Hi, I'm Lynn from Metro Detroit , Michigan. January marked my 9 year Sparkaversary, In reality I was very active 2008-2011. I was/am on a very supportive team Late in Life Moms. I have had my Fit bit for a year, to me it's like checking in on Spark . Keeps me honest with myself. When I fade (from spark or my fit bit ) a one or two day slide can turn into a months long rest. Then the weight piles back on.

Committed to the long term.

I received my 2015 Fitbit update on January 30th while awed at how many steps I had done, was not happy with where I am at now. I took 2,520,132 steps in 2015 and walked 1,717km but I needed to go farther and that was when I was introduced to Spark People. According to my profile, I have taken over 5 million steps in all kinds of weather and walked almost 3,800 kms since May 24, 2014. I appreciate your reply and yes, walking in the cold is much easier than in summer heat! I live in SW Ontario around the Great Lakes so our summers tend to be hot and humid except in El Nino years like the last couple have been! Good luck on your 5k:)

Getting into the gondola of a hot air balloon takes faith and so does the journey to a healthier, fitter me. It took courage to get in but once done, it was worth it. Changing my way of eating, exercising and living is worth it too!

Hello. That's sounds crazy walking in that kinda weather but it does sound refreshing. I don't mind the cold. I'd rather do that then walk in the NC heat of the summer. I wish you all the best in the "new" adventure. I to have fallen off the wagon several times. Some friends of mine are getting ready to run/walk a 5K in Mid-March. We are all looking forward to it. emoticon

Hi, my name is Jeanette & I've been using my Fitbit One coming up on 2 years. I did really well for the first year even through the bitter cold Ontario winter last year. I walked over 10,000 steps almost every day through blizzards, 70 mile winds, sleet and rain but this year I've fallen off the rails. Today is day 3 on SP so I'm hoping this will help hold me accountable and get the weight off. Thanks to my One, I found out I actually love walking and it doesn't matter what the weather is. Nighttime is actually my favourite time to walk; I'll head out at 8pm and walk for 1 1/2 hours no problem. It's my time to decompress and it doesn't affect my sleep at all. Everyone tells me morning is the time to exercise but I am a night owl, not a morning person and just can't get the motivation up - especially when it's -20C outside and windy!

Hi y'all! I'm Kaitlin from Oklahoma and I've been a Sparkpeople member for a long time but kept falling off the wagon. I'm keeping to it a lot better and I know my fitbit is a good motivator for me. I'd love some new friends on here and on Fitbit so feel free to add me! www.fitbit.com/user/37ZN6L

Hello all
I'm Amy (I know kind of obvious with my spark name). I'm from South Louisiana.

I started my fitness journey 4 years ago. Had gotten to 18 lbs from goal (losing 60 lbs) and returned to old habits.
Rededicated myself and was back on the right track then developed a foot injury (planter fasciitis). Couldn't do any weight bearing activities so gained back 40ish lbs.
I am now cleared and back on track. I joined Planet Fitness in December. I have lost 8 lbs and 2.5 total inches. I just got my FitBit and love it.

Hugs & Well Wishes -- Amy

My name is Melissa and I live in south Florida. I've been on SP before; I can lose the weight, my problem is keeping it off! I want to be in great shape so that I can keep up with my 21 year old daughter. We went to Spain over Christmas and it was painful for me to walk around for hours. We're hoping to go to Japan this summer and I want to be able to walk and hike without problems.

I just linked my fitbit to SP; go to your fitness tracker & towards the bottom under tools you'll see the connect my device link.

Hi everyone- My name is Mary. I have been a Spark member since 2011 and just this year want to use the features. I use a Fit bit Zip and aim for 8K 4 days per week. I also use an elliptical and bike; two days a week I go to water aerobics. I am physically fit, unfortunately,I like to eat also.

I have a goal to lose 45 lbs. this year.

ARTEMISHEALTH you absolutely can link your fit bit to your fitness tracker because mine is. I do not remember how I linked it. There is a search icon on the top tool bar and I have found information on every subject I have searched there.

Hi - I've been on SP for 4 days and using Fitbit for 4 months. Just 'downgraded' from a Flex to a Zip since the Flex started giving me a rash. (Fitbit was great by the way, giving me a full refund without a receipt and even paying the return postage). The Zip isn't fancy, but it's discrete and I love not having to to charge it - just change a $2 battery every few months.

My current challenge is how to get the numbers up while dealing with a stubborn foot injury (tendinitis). Lots of gentle marching in place at home I guess.

I see you can link FitBit to Spark. Has anyone had issues with that? I also link FB to LoseIt, which is my meal tracker of choice.

I'm not sure I am doing this right. Hi, I've been a fitbit user for about 3 years. I started with the Jawbone band but that kept falling off and eventually I totally lot it. I stopped keeping track of my food for the last year and have watched my weight just slowly increase. So I am back to logging it. The fitbit app is better than it was three years ago. I noticed on the fitbit site I could link spark and it together. So here I am. In my older days of logging food, I would use spark to find the nutrition of my recipes. What I would love to be able to do is export the nutrition data to the fitbit. Keeping track and slowly loosing is my goal.

Hi, I'm Karen and just joined a few days ago but have been a Fitbit Ultra user for 3-1/2 years. Just pre-ordered the new Fitbit Alta and am looking forward to receiving it sometime in early March. Have never had one of the wrist trackers so am hoping I'll like it as well as what I've been using.

Hi All,

My name is Robert. I have been using fitbit for about 3 years and love it. First there was the Flex, then the Surge appealed to me and I love it. the only restriction is the battery that needs to be charged quite often and... Of course while you charge it it is not on your wrist (...).

I find it works pretty well, together with Sparkpeople web site.

Hello, my name is Ruth & I have a Fitbit Flex. I've had it for quite awhile, but health issues has been keeping me from getting serious with it. Well, this week, my health issues came to a head, my heart went in2 A-fib. Thought I was having a heart attack, but I wasn't, BUT, was on the verge of having 1. Hubby got me to the hospital 50 miles away as the blizzard was starting. Took 12 hours to get the heart to sync, but once it did, I felt better than I had in YEARS! Over the years I KNEW something was wrong, went to cardiologist after cardiologist doing stress tests, EKGs, echo cardiograms, heart monitor, & the 1 where they put dye in your blood stream & then then look at the heart (can't think of it's name right now) to end up with nothing showing.

I've been a member of SP for a decade, was even a leader for 2 different teams. I lost 65 lbs back in 2006-2007 when I lost my mom due to complications from Alzheimer's. After that, over the years I slowly gained all my weight back, plus 9 extra #s. Some of that MIGHT be the new meds I'm on now, for I gained that extra 9 just in the past week.

I'm looking for a team that has challenges w/o berating people if they don't meet their goals for the week. Thank you & have a great TGIF!

Hi, I'm Sharon from Florida. I bought a Fitbit Zip a few weeks ago and love it. I don't care for anything on my wrist so I though the clip version would be for me. I have linked it to SP and have the app on my phone too. I like that I always know if I'm "over" or "under" or "on target" with food/activity each day.

Hello everyone, I am a new proud owner of Fitbit One. I received my last night so today will be my first full day. I put mine on at 4am this morning and at 8:30 I have almost walked 2000 steps. My goal is to be able to walk 10K steps a day. As an Insurance Agent, I am in a chair more than I would like. I plan on walking at least 5 minutes each hour and devote 30 minutes of my lunch to walking, unless I am writing insurance. Obviously this will take time but I am up for the challenge!!! Spark On!!!

Greetings. A friend gave me a FitBit and I wear it almost all the time. I also use a Polar M400 to measure calories and heart beat during workouts.

Been spending a lot of time on a spinning bike and have developed a real love/hate relationship with it. HIIT and hill climbs really hurt, but burning 650 calories an hour is quite satisfying.

Thinking seriously about buying a new bike.

Hi, 'fitbitters'! I have been off track for 18 months - but I'm back and know from the past the value of the Fitbit in motivating towards achievement of goals. I just hooked up today and was very pleased to learn I could sync with Sparkpeople - makes for smooth transitioning and tracking!

Glad I found the Fitbit team - let's get those points rolling in and be #1....go team! emoticon

Hello, all.

I've kind of been in and out of here, but I'm back, hopefully for good. I'm jumping on board with the weekly goals once this week is complete. I hate starting in the middle.

I have a Fitbit One and love it, but for some reason I can't get it to sync properly today-the first time I've tried in a while. It gives me calories burned, but doesn't record the steps.

In loving memory of Andrew. 1985-2004

Hi group,
My name is Sue. I'm 65 yrs young and retired. I've had a Fitbit Charge for a while and had no problem connecting to Sparkpeople, although sometimes some of my food isn't picked up by the Fitbit. Anyway, I've been tracking in Sparkpeople for the past month and only just got around to reading my mail. From now on, I will give our group my points. Glad to be making this journey with all of you.

Hi all - like many others, I've been on SP for many years. I lost a lot of weight and kept it off successfully until I had a few bad years in a row (multiple knee surgeries, torn muscles, sprained ankle, terrible job problems) but now that things are more stable, it's time to get serious and lose the weight.

For my birthday, as a toy, my husband bought me a Fitbit Charge and it's been interesting. So far, it's been most useful to me to prove to myself that I was sick and needed to see a doctor, because my sleep got really terrible. Haha.

Also, it's proves that I'm REALLY sedentary at work so I need to work on that. Sure, it's winter, but my workplace does have a couple of treadmills and I think even a couple minutes walk on it would be good for me, emotionally, if nothing else!

Good morning everyone!! I got a Fitbit Charge HR yesterday for an early Valentines Day present because my boyfriend new I was out to get one as soon as my taxes come in.

I have been on sparkpeople for a longtime now, over 5-8 years. Maybe up to 10. I heard about Sparkpeople through the YMCA weightloss class, when my daughter was into Y sports. Now she's 18.

I have went up and down, up and down, up and down with my weight. Highest being 160ish to my lowest being 136. I re-got down to 137 earlier this year.

Why did I gain weight? Now at 155 ish. Well because I met a wonderful man who swept me away from my job and town. I moved 2 hours away and I don't have to have a job. The move was barely before thanksgiving. So we got comfortable and lazy and I gained pretty much 20 DANG O STUPID POUNDS.

I have been working on getting back on track by doing my Homemade Calendar Poster for healthy habits, from flossing my teeth, putting lotion on after my shower/bath, getting on my Wii Fit (to at least move around more) to drinking green tea and eating my vegetables. I noticed that Sparkguy was implementing something of this nature. I have been an on again off again sparkpeople person. Hoping with all this time I've been given that I can get back to regular sparkpeople check ins and active on the site!!

So now I have a fitbit. I tried the Bodybug from the biggest loser show when I watched it during the earlier seasons.

Build good habits!! Extinguish bad habits!!

Hey everyone! I'm Myranda. I've had my account with SparkPeople since 2008 (I think) but haven't been very active on it for some time. I have my FitBit Charge HR and I love it! I've had some issues in the past...started having problems with my FitBit Flex not charging so I was sent a replacement but upgraded to the HR and now I really want the Blaze when it comes out. I think that will be what I use my tax return on (if I get much of anything back).

I've had a really trying year in 2015. I slipped a disk in my lower back and had SI (hip) joint pain to go with it. I ended up losing my job because it wasn't a job related injury. Shortly after landing a new job I found out that we were moving across the country (military family) and I spent 6 more months job searching to find nothing.

I decided to go back to school and this time I'm following my passion and I'm going to culinary school! I'm loving it so much but I don't get to wear my FitBit in class twice a week so I keep in in my pocket...not sure how accurate it is though.

Happy to be here!

Hi, I'm Frances,
I've been a member of sparkpeople for nine years now. I've lost a little over 100# but due to menopause have put back about 40, beginning as I was training for my first and last half marathon - the Flying Pig. I have and still feel like my body is betraying me. I'm working at trying to loose them and keep them gone.

From the beginning I've used a pedometer - every day for the last nine years, my daughters got me a fitbit for Mother's Day and I've switched to that. I just have the basic that I clip to my underwear. It tracked the 42 miles I walked with my family while on vacation in Italy this past summer including a couple dips in the Tyrrhenian Sea and surprisingly it kept working when I forgot to take it off before swimming.

I used to be very active on the team forums, but have not been the past couple of years, so I can't promise a lot of activity now, but I'll try.

Best of luck everyone!

Hello, I am Kyo. I am a 25 year old female that needs to lose about 90lbs. Just got a fitbit Charge HR today. Just finished setting up and syncing to Sparkpeople. I am pushing for this weight loss to work and the fitbit will help keep me on track for fitness.

Joined here yesterday - and I got my Fit-Bit Charge HR set up today.

I have been on SPARKS 10 years this April. I have the app on phone but rather come here to the computer when using it. You miss too much on an app.

I have an 8+ hour day computer job coordinating grocery ads - looking at & proofing food all day in a cubicle. Hoping this gets me out of my chair during the day.

Been a walker but moving into running more this year. Hubby & I belong to a local gym, we walk jog run every weekend 4-6 miles in our neighborhood or Chambers Bay Golf Course. I use the Kinesis Machine to lift & stretch at gym. We also do lots of 5Ks.

Excited to learn more about it from everyone here....

Lynn J. :)

Hello, I am Tosha. I have been using a Fitbit for about a 1 1/2 years. I have had my Surge for about a year now. I love it. I did SparkPeople about 6 years ago and lost 60lbs. I have gain that all back in the 1-2 years from pregnancy and nursing school. I have now been at my job for almost 5 years and love it. But 2 years ago I took an office job at our facility, hours are much better for me and our family. I now sit at a desk most of the day. I have been on the Beachbody rollercoaster for the last 3 years. I have now found a program that I love, but I am sure in the next few months will get bored of. I am doing Turbo Jam on my own schedule. I thought I would try SparkPeople again to help me on my new and final wt loss journey.

Hello! My name is Debra - I live in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. I love my Fitbit One. It has been really helpful in keeping me moving! I just upped my daily goal from 7500 to 10000 and so far I've been doing really well. Because the weather is really nice where I live this time of year - I walk to work in the mornings and then usually walk with friends in the evening.

Hi everyone,
My name is Arnette, and I got the fitbit flex for my family (hubby, daughter, and me) for Christmas. It's been a fun to use and a great motivator. We are aiming to hit the 10,000 steps daily. My hubby is retired so he has more time than I do. Daughter is very active so she has no problems reaching the 10,000. I, on the other hand, am still working and do workout at our weight room two times a week. I have been aiming for the 10,000 steps and have made it most days. Only a few days where I didn't reach my goal....oh well. I will continue to strive for that goal.

Hi there. Just got my first fitbit today. I bought a fitbit zip because I don't like wearing things on my wrist. And I can clip it or tuck it anywhere. I'm still not sure what or how it works other than counting steps but I synced it to SP and was surprised to see my steps listed in my fitness.

I learn as I go and look to this board for info and support.

Hi, my name is Danielle. I'm not new to SparkPeople but am new to FitBit. A few years ago, I bought the scale and just purchased the Charge HR FitBit last week. So far I'm enjoying it.

Hi, I'm Ali.

I love my fitbit, because I am awful at losing pedometers. I tend to focus more on my calorie goals than my step goals, but this week, I've been moving a lot more.

Nice to meet you all!
