Hello Everyone,

I have been using my Fitbit Flex for about 2 1/2 weeks now and I love it! I walk

My name is Alisa and I'm from Philadelphia. I am a doctoral student in Philadelphia in my second year. Have been battling health and weight problems for a while so decided to take matters in my own hands again, for the better. I love being active. Swimming, volleyball and working out are my thing, but I also love to cook and eating new things. I'm currently considering taking Salsa lessons. Hope to get to know you all!!

Hi there! I have had my fitbit for about a week, and the only thing I can understand about it, is how many steps I have taken that day. I am really technically challenged when trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do. I was thrilled when I found out about your site, for me it's FitBit for Dummies. emoticon
I don't know how to get things synched to my computer for one thing. I haven't seen anywhere to figure out how my sleep is going, except for letting the stop watch run until I stop it the next day. Which probably burns the battery up like crazy.
I do have the fitbit synched now to my new laptop (another part of the problem-new technology again) I think. I don't know how to get my newest figures to synch. Then there's the little plug-in thing-like a tiny usb for one of the ports. Where does it get the material to synch?
Okay-that's most of my fitbit problems. (That's certainly enough)
My name is Kathy, partially derived from my call sign TomKatKahsey. I am now retired. Had to retire earlier than expected. I got adult onset hydrocephalus. My neurologist blew me off, saying this only happened once in thousands of people. Between being a nurse for 10 years, and from my symptoms, I decided I knew my diagnosis, and I was right. Hydrocephalus.
The left ventricle was not draining, and was putting all this pressure on in my head that effectively removed some of my memory, and my balance area. I lost past experiences, and continue to have short memory problems too (and all this after brain surgery)... I trip, stumble and fall. I have a walker, and a wheelchair, but I'm resisting them for as long as I can. I can ride my horse, but sometimes I lean a little too much to one side.
Before I was diagnosed, my good ole horse and I had a HUGE misunderstanding. I went to step up, he went forwards. I lost my balance in mid-air, and fell hard on my shoulder.
I broke my shoulder, my collarbone, 3 compressed disks in my spinal column, broken left leg, and ribs on both sides. In bed for almost a year, unable to feed myself for awhile. Thank God for my wonderful husband of 38 years. That's the things that come to mind-you can check out my SparkPage.
Hope I didn't bore you to death, but at least if you get through all that, you'll basically know me today. I can walk alone, stand, feed myself-just a little slower..Including learning maybe??

Hi all,

I am 48 years old male from... shockingly... New York.

I have had my fitbit since June 14th and just today saw a message that ROCKMAN6797 sent to me back in June. So thanks to Raul for the invite.

I linked my fitbit to sparkpeople and my wife, also on sparkpeople / fitbit as KDJ1202, told me I was doing good in the sparkpeople/fitbit challenge. It was great motivation for me and hopefully for everyone else too. We all have the same goal... to lose weight and keep it off.

My goal was to lose weight through exercise but without dieting. Diets have beginnings and ends and the end usually means getting gaining weight for the next diet.

On June 14th, I was 229 pounds. My goal was to lose 20 pounds. So I started logging my food and walking as much as I could. I lost 21 pounds by August 18th eating the same food I always did but learning portion control. The great thing was that I was never hungry.

So I changed my goal to 199 pounds. I hadn't been below 200 ponds since the mid-90s. But I got there on September 14th. Again, eating what I wanted but keeping portion control a priority.

So, I changed my goal once again.... to 189 lbs. I hadn't been under 190 since my older son was a baby... and he is 25 now! I got to 189 lbs on October 5th.

So now I have lowered the goal to 185. Not sure I can get much lower than that. I am in the best shape that I have been in in about 25 years and it feels great. The best part is that I have grown to enjoy logging my food and I actually look forward to walking.

Well, that's about it. I hope all of you reach your goals and maintain them.

Good luck & God bless.

Hi Everyone,

I have had my fitbit for a little over 4 months and I love it! I get a great deal of motivation from my little wrist band! I only found out about SparkPeople a few days ago, and so glad I did.

Happy to see the Challenges here with the Fitbit, and a group of people who are making a difference in their health. I am running a proverbial marathon when it comes to my weight, and overall health. I hope this group will be a great motivator to keep me moving.

I have been watching Fitbit for some time and finally got it. It has helped me to set my goals and to be more active. I love it. Looking forward to hearing what you all have to say. First week dropped 2.4. Of course I know it will slow down but I've been inspired.

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to be joining this lovely group. I just go my FitBit Flex last night and its currently charging. I'm Canadian but I live in Guatemala. So I had to go through a lot of trouble to get this as they don't sell them here. I'm really looking forward to learning all that it can do and make full use of it. I'm also hoping that this will be a good motivation to help me lose the last 11lbs!

So glad to be back with the group - how are you all doing? Nothing less than GREAT I hope

I'm doing it - email now and find out how!

Hey, I'm Rissa. I've had my One for about a month now and it helps me get out so much. My goal is only 5,000 steps a day and a couple days of 8,000 steps. I want to work my way up to 15,000 steps to get that badge! The closest I've gotten is 11,500 steps. I'm working on it!

I'm Lesley, and I just got my Fitbit One earlier this week. Finding out how many steps I take on a normal day was sobering! Trying to do more, but haven't made it to 10K yet.

I work FT and go to grad school PT, so I'm trying to fit in more activity in different ways, including walk breaks and parking farther away.

LOL, RedPoppy. That's the last darn thing we need - getting shorter! I'm a great weight if only I were 7 ft tall. Not doing so great at 5'8" though. emoticon

Back again to SP! Dropped about 20 pounds last year, and gained back 5. Really can't complain too much. I have my FITBIT charged back up, and it does help me stay motivated - when I sync and see what I've done. So, I'm back and need to loose another 20-30. Recently had a bone scan, and found out I was shorter than I thought, which made my BMI jump! Darn!

Hi. I'm Linda. I bought a Fitbit Flex in mid September and love it. It has helped motivate me to (finally!) get back on track with trying to get healthy. Part of that is getting back to Sparkpeople. I've used SP several times before and was successful when I was doing it but would end up "falling off the wagon" and abandoning Spark along with all my other healthy behaviors. I'm back to try again. I think the awareness that Fitbit gives regarding activity level will be a helpful tool in my journey to fitness. (Really hate the thought of missing that daily step goal!). I wish you all luck in your efforts to get fit.

Hi all! I have lost about about 50lbs and I am doing my best to get down to a healthier weight... my goal is somewhere around 160lbs or so. I am starting off by eating right and getting this body in motion :) I recently switched from a body media to the fitbit flex and already I am loving the more comfortable feel of it.
As of today I am weighing in at 231, so I have a looong way to go. I would really appreciate any tips that an of you have ... recipes, exercises, relaxation techniques... I'll take whatever I can get! I have been alternating biking with C25K which I love. I never thought I would be able to run at all and even though I am on week 2 I already feel stronger.
So it's great to meet you all! Hope to be able to chat with you soon :)

All said and done I want to loose about 170 lbs but right now I'm focusing on a short term goal just to get under 300 lbs. Even to do that though I have to lose 69 lbs. I think the fitbit will help keep me on track and a reminder. I see it on my wrist every time I eat :)

Hi everyone!

I'm Laura and I'm currently in Madison, WI. I just purchased a Fitbit One last week and I'm loving it so far! It's been a great motivator and even has me logging my food regularly again, no small feat when I'm in school. Right now my goal is 7500 steps a day, which is a stretch sometimes, there are days when I just have so much classwork and homework that I can't move around much. However, having the Fitbit is definitely encouraging me to keep trying to fit movement in. I love the sleep tracking too!

Hey Y'all! from NC!

I just purchased my flex last week and love it so far! I even had to walk around the house for 30 minutes last night to make sure I met m 10,000 for the day before I would go to bed. My goal is weight loss for sure. I'm hoping to lose 30 and be back to 130 within a year.

Howdy Ya'll:

My name Is Darrell. I decided to go with the fitbit flex. I started wearing it two days ago. So far I'm really impressed with how its doing, the readings, and I really like the website and app for the phone. The best part to me is that its waterproof. I don't have to constantly keep taking it off like I did with my bodybugg. They are opening a new gym in my works parking lot on Wednesday and I'm supper excited to give it a test run at the gym. The only downside for me is that it was black. I am color deficient so when I did take it off it blends in with a lot of colors. I ordered the bright orange one and I can't wait for it to come in the mail.

Hello, my name is Lori. I joined this team because I recently purchased a fitbit flex and OMG!!!! The best $$$ I've ever spent. I just love it. My goal is 10,000 steps per day and for the most part I succeed. Some days I have to push myself and almost make it but I feel that with the flex I am consciously always aware of my goal and am always trying to hit it.

Glad to be on this team!!!

I'm Jenn. I love my zip and might treat myself to a flex in a few months and give the zip to my hubby. His work just started doing contests for daily steps. It helps that we're now trying to outdo each other!

I love my fitbit zip! It really keeps me motivated to continue moving. But I am stumped on how to get my fitbit "address" or number that everyone talks about so I can signup as friends. Can someone tell me where I can find the info? I looked on fitbit and didn't find anything. Thanks.

Each new day is a blessing. I am thankful for each day that my eyes open and I take a breath.

Welcome Amber and Karen (I'm a Karen too). FitBit is a wonderful little tech toy that motivates us.

Enjoy!

Hi! My name is Amber. I bought my Fitbit Zip in April as a birthday gift to myself and it was the best gift! It keeps me motivated to reach my daily goals!

Hello from Maryland. I have been using fitbit since July and love it. I have also been using the Spark Solutions Book and find it helpful. Trying to be more active and plan on running a 5K on 1/1/14.
