I had/have the same problem and same frustration! It is maddening. No matter what I do, the scale doesn't budge.
I read a lot of books and articles on Perimenapause and Menapause, and this is what I found that worked for me.
The one piece of advice I tried that really worked was the Re-set eating plan.
I tried it for one week. Six meals a day, 3 - 400 calorie meals, and 3 - 100 calorie snacks.
Each "meal" is scheduled at least 2 hours apart (but no more than 3).
I switched to decaf coffee, green tea, and no soda.
I cut out extra sugar and extra salt.
This really helped! I never felt hungry or deprived. And without the extra sugar or salt, my cravings absolutely subsided.
I have two friends who are diabetic and they eat like this as well. It regulates their sugar throughout the day. No swings. And with six meals a day, planning is crucial and deliberate.
Like I said, it was only one week, but the differences I noticed in myself were astounding. I wasn't running to the kitchen for cookies or chips, I just had no desire--that's a miracle for me.
And, like anything else, not everything works for every body. My husband tried it with me (at a few more calories) and he no longer craves a sweet desert at night.
Good luck on your journey, we are all here and know what you are going through. Our experiences may be different, but our frustration is alike in so many ways.
