It is VERY confusing to be diagnosed with ADD as an adult! I wasn't diagnosed until I was in my mid-60s & I'm still struggling to get everything sorted out! The best advice I can give you is read as much as you can about ADD, watch everything on tv (PBS) that you can, join support groups if they're available in your area, etc. And take it slow! You can't fix everything all at once & if you're anything like me, trying to do so will only aggravate the ADD and make it worse! Go slow, be compassionate with yourself. One day at a time, as the old saying goes!

Welcome to the team! We're glad to have you here!

Thank you so much...this makes so much sense. Since being diagnosed a month ago it is amazing how many of my "problems" can be attributed to my disorder, I am not surprised this one is too. I am taking my meds and taking it one day at a time (now if I can just get my family to understand).

I am going to take the plan B thing, and stock up on healthy choices for work. I also think I will put alarms on my phone so I won't forget to eat.

I am so glad to know I have people to share my journey with.

Jennifer

Welcome to the team. When i read your post, I thought about MY problem with overeating. I looked up this article. I don't know if it would help you or me. But I will say after reading the narrative. I definitely overeat and most of the time it is with carboyhydrates. This is one of the biggest reasons that I am overweight.

I have just been diagnosed with Adult ADD and am confused about my life. Having suffered this my whole life, but not being diagnosed until 42, how do I undo all my bad habits and still try to create new ones? One big habit I have created is eating to deal with my feelings of inadequacy.

Where do I go now? emoticon
