Hi
I am Summer, and have been on Spark before. I used to live on the beach in FL, but moved to Europe a few months ago. I had my third baby 2 1-2 years ago and still have weight from that pregnancy. And I gained back an addition 20 in the moving process. I tend to eat when stressed. I am really hoping Spark will help me get back on track. My two older kids are 10 and 16, and I am 39. We moved here due to my husbands job.
Look forward to getting to know y'all.

Hi everyone. What a great group!
I didn't know that crunchy was a good word for me, but now that I've seen you all here, I think I've found the right place!
I don't really know how to introduce myself properly, but I'll make some crunchy confessions to start things off.
2 things that happened today gave me a sense of accomplishment.
1- My son tried tofu tonight and begged for more. (I normally avoid soy products because I think they're an evil GMO nightmare, but this was organic, so I compromised.) My 9 year old has sensory issues, so I decided today to be proud that he loves his veggies and is eager to try new foods!
2- This evening, my SIL posted pictures of a random plant. I recognized it's family, and was able to find it almost instantly, and tell her it's important properties. There are so many ways I feel like an idiot in social gatherings. But today I felt like I'm just the right kind of nerd!
We hunt and fish for food. I make my own yogurt. I own a spinning wheel (and know how to use it.) I homeschool. So yes, I guess Crunchy Mamas might just be the place for me. Nice to meet you all!

Last year was our first year in a new place and new house so we didn't get a garden in but have had one in the past. We are planning to plant a garden this year but we are keeping it small. We live near my parents and my mom has (I'm not joking) 4 gardens amounting to well over an acre. So we get a lot of stuff from her. I am hoping this year she can help me with some canning because even though I know how to do it I'm fairly unsure of myself and with a pressure canner you really need to be confident that you are doing it right.
We also raised our own beef steer last year and have two dairy goats who provide us with milk which we drink, make cheese with, make an awesome milk caramel with and this year I am going to be branching into the goat milk soaps, lotions, and other cosmetic type products. We are also hoping to become certified to sell raw goats milk. It has so many benefits and I want to help others have organic, raw, delicious milk. After having our own milk for a year I can't stand the store bought stuff. My husband won't even drink store milk now.

Samantha :)

Hi Samantha! Welcome to the group (we are still really quiet around here!). I wish you lots of luck with your road down fertility treatments. I know that can be a stressful path. Eating healthy and exercising are always good habits to start. Eating clean is actually pretty easy once you start. Just don't buy stuff in a package! Do you garden? We are starting our first real veggie garden this year, last year we grew tomatoes and peppers. We had some other stuff, but it didn't make it.

Always looking for spark buddies!

I'm Samantha. I live in Idaho. My husband and I are trying to become more crunchy by being more self sufficient. I am tired of not knowing where my food comes from and the food being so expensive. I have just started getting interested in some alternative medicines including herbs and essential oils. We have been able to have children of our own (he has one from a previous relationship) so we are looking into natural treatments for infertility. I hope to be a nursing, cosleeping, baby wearing mama soon!

Samantha :)
