Oh how I wish we had a Trader Joes. I also use Julian bakery website for some things also. I generally get it from Wally or HEB. I will have to get prices on the flours. I'm still struggling letting go of the bread and gluten...how do you do it...just driving me nuts. I don't normally have an addictive personality but I just cant shake this wheat stuff. I know it will make me feel tons better from what I am told. You'd think that'd motivate me but nope. Guess I have lived this way for so long it makes it hard to change. :(

When you start looking around for flours to cook with such as tapioca flour or potato flour or coconut flour, do consider running a price comparison at amazon dot com and swansonvitamins dot com. While some local places may have good prices on the flours, you may discover even better prices at amazon or swanson (yes, even after shipping).
Trader Joes and Walmart have decent gluten free pastas that don't fall apart after cooking and actually taste good.

Thank you so much, I am currently getting active on pintrest as well and finding all kinds of recipes. I just have to find the products down here where I live. I am going to sit and plan this weekend and see how I can make it work better for me. It is a challenge I am willing to take, I will get off this gluten. :)

It's hard to kick gluten - it is one of the hardest things because the wheat has been genetically modified over the years to produce higher amounts of gliadin (precursor to gluten). Gliadin is an addictive substance. It makes the breads and stuff all have a nice texture and gets us 'high' (that 'feel good' feeling some people get immediately after eating wheat products - not everyone gets the feeling, but a surprising number of people DO). All that was done with intent, I believe.

My advice is to start looking around now for products and recipes that you will feel comfortable using.

Maybe it would help to get a forum going here on the team for sharing information on gluten free foods, etc.

I am struggling bad with getting off the gluten. I didn't think it would be this hard. I guess because it's not just me. I have my son and my boyfriend....granted the gluten free would help all of us. I am excited about it.

Welcome! I share your pain. I recently was diagnosed with Hashimoto's, gluten intolerance, and I've had endometriosis for years. I've learned so much in the past 7 months, and have had to change my diet drastically. The first couple of months were the most difficult for me, but it's gotten a lot easier. I'm happy to help you out in anyway that I can.
