Hi, SPARROW and D! Welcome to our little team.

We'll be started 100 Days of Weight Loss around beginning of June probably. I hope you find the team useful - there's no weigh-ins here, we just share the 'stuff' that gets in the way of us achieving our goals.

Feel free to join the Chat thread if you like a chat.

Hi, I'm D. I'm new to this group. I have a lot of weight to lose, but I'm more focused on feeling healthy. In June of 2019, I started to work with a trainer. I didn't see a lot of weight loss, but I got strong, enjoyed my workouts, and my body didn't ache anymore. Then in the middle of the pandemic, I had a new job opportunity. The catch, I had to move across the country. My life was turned upside down, and I gain 25 pounds in six months and stop working out. ARGH!! Help. I'm looking forward to joining this group.

Hi Everyone,

A friend just told me about this Spark team, and just looking at some of the members I see a number of familiar faces! If no one objects, I would like to join this group as well. I don't have Linda's book yet, but I will order it soon! I feel like tackling my weight issues once again and getting back up on that horse!

Looking forward to renewing old friendships and making new friends along the way!

Hi, emoticon

My name is Cheryl and I joined the team 2 days ago. I am newly retired and ready to invest some time in myself.

I know this team will be a big help as I figure out where I am and work on developing some new habits.

I'll start with the daily reading and emails.

I'm Blessed.

Hi Glyn

I'm really pleased that you've decided to join us here. As you've heard me say before, this team doesn't offer diet plans, or require you to post your weight anywhere - it's about slow and steady small changes to our thinking that help us gradually improve our relationship with ourselves and food!

We will begin 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss on 1st January - if you don't have the book, you might be able to pick it up cheaply at the moment - sometimes it's free on Kindle if you use that. I started with an ebook, but have a paper copy now - and I do find it easier with a 'proper' book to read.

We don't always start on 1st January - it just worked out that way this year. You've done brilliantly to lose those 100lb - it shows that you can. Those last 10lbs are the hardest in my opinion! Keep going!

Hi, my name is Glyn and I am an emotional eater. I am hoping this will help me stick with my eating plans. I am 54, I work a lot, and enjoy xfit at the gym. I had finally hit my doctors weight loss goal of 100 pounds but I have put back on 6 or 7 since Halloween. That just started and fueled the emotions. The plan is to lose 10 more than the doc says so I am going to try to get off the roller coaster and back to being consistent. I think this team will help me.

Hi my name is Kathryn I have read the book and want ti chat with others who have read the book.

I know today you are on lesson 78 but I would like to join in

I am married and 63. I am the main caretaker of my husband who is 75 and a functioning quadriplegic with limited use of his àrms and legs. We have been together 15 years and got married last year. We are both pretty much home bodies. I get out for walks and shopping. I love Starbucks and my favorite drink is iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade.

Good morning everyone, and happy Friday. My name is Carolyn, and I am very excited to be here as a new member of your team today. I have been a member of Spark people
for several years, but during the last few years I became inactive and only used the nutrition section occasionally to tack my meals. Unfortunately I've been struggling in my weight loss journey practically every day, and am finding it very difficult to get back on track. I am looking forward in getting to know you as I join you in your weight loss journey.

I'm so happy that you've found us! Yes, these books, based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy certainly do have application to every area of our lives - you're right there!

Sounds like the short daily lessons will work well for you. Don't feel you have to check in every day, or do the activities every day - but do keep going with us.

Hi, I am happy to gain support and a place to learn more about dealing with the struggles with my weight and life. It's day 3 and I can already see how these goals pertain not only to weight loss but work and discipline in our daily life. Short and sweet has always been the way I like to learn - this book is perfect for that!

Hi, April. I hope that this next 100 DWL will support you in your goals.......... we have about 20 weeks before we reach Day 100 - in that time, you can find your own inner drive, and achieve 20 weekly goals. One day at at time.

Hello my name is April and I live in the Midwest state of Missouri. I stay very busy with work, husband, kids (even though they are grown and own their own houses), dogs, mother-in-law (she has Alzheimer's and I'm her primary care giver), etc. I have been stuck and possibly slowly gaining for too many years at a weight that I am not proud of in any way. I HATE looking at myself in pictures. I used to love shopping and now I dread it. My goal is to find that inner drive that will keep me on track so that I can achieve my own personal goals.

Sorry I missed your message when you posted it in November! Are you still here, I wonder?

We will be re-starting in January 2020 - the 100 MORE Days of Weight Loss book by Linda Spangle.

You are not alone in craving sweet things - sugar is my big pitfall too!

How this works is that we work, together, through the book 1 day at a time. We have been working Monday to Friday, and taking weekends to catch-up, rest, review etc which has worked well. So - 5 lessons a week for 20 weeks gets us through the book.

The lesson of the day can always be found at the top of the Lessons Forum each day. Check out some of the threads and see what you think.

Hi! I am Em. New here, old to SP. I lost 70 lbs using SP, then life interfered, and I slacked off, then dropped out, and need to lose 30 more. My attitude has been adjusted and now I am ready to begin again...one less bite at a time.
My Diet plan is to use SparkPeople/Low-Calorie/Low-Carbohydrates tracking system.
My Exercise plan is 5+ days of Cardio, and 3+ Days of Strength Training--mostly using SP and other on-line Videos.
I will follow the plan for 100 Days, beginning on Monday. I hope to lose 14 lbs during those 14 weeks. 8-).
I will keep a record of my progress by blogging on this site.

The sea is so great, and my boat is so small....

Wow, Moomshine! You've made great progress and have great realistic daily goals. I have the book . . . in a desk drawer! (Ok, now the team knows.) I've printed out the journal and look forward to starting Monday also. I've been working on my "Reasons I want to lose weight" list.

I'm new to the group and to Linda Spangle's book. I've read bits and pieces of it, and have finally ordered a copy for myself. I hope to find insight into the reason(s) why I'm unable to lose the weight and more importantly what I can do about it. Not looking for a quick fix, but something I can use and feel comfortable with in my daily life.

I worked through the 100 Days of Weight Loss, years ago. I have made many changes to the way I eat, in the last few years, but I am very interested in the why's of when I eat. I hope that makes sense. LOL I struggle with emotional eating. I have an autoimmune disease that messes with my stamina and I would like to prevent other health issues.

I found this team by a link on Olderowl’s blog on Positive Thinking. I’ve lost 90 pounds in the last 2+ years and have been in maintenance since June 2018. Weight wise I’m doing okay. Although I’ve made great progress and feel happy about that, I have always struggled with emotional eating and continue to do so. Hoping to work on this problem during the 100 Days. Wishing the very best to all as we make this 100 Day journey together!

Hi everyone. I'm new to this team, but I'm not new to Spark People. I joined about 10 years ago and have been losing and gaining the same 5-10 pounds ever since then. At one point I had lost about 30 pounds but managed to find it again. It's time for a change. I was reading a blog entry where 100 Days To Weight Loss was referenced. I looked it up to find out what it was all about and I decided I need to do this. I just ordered the book on Amazon. I'm looking forward to getting started. Having homework to do every day will help me stay motivated and keep focused on my goals. This is gonna be my year to shine. emoticon

Hiya. You have a couple of options.
1) jump to Day 18 and jog along with us.......each Day is valuable, but none of them are totally dependent on you having done the previous days.

2) whizz through the days in binge mode - just read them - won't take long

3) keep going at your own pace

My advice would be option 1) because it is SO much more fun with company!

Hi Gill. That is what I am blaming on. However it just seemed to happen quick. And now taking much more effort. I am giving some consideration to "is this my happy weight"? However not pleased with my stomach. So a few more anyway. It will happen. Patience has never been one of my super virtues, and age hasn't helped that either! emoticon

Hi I am Pam. I am pretty much in maintenance but put on a few pounds. I have taken most of it back off, but am still struggling with 2 to five pounds. I have been exercising every day for at least 10 minutes, usually more like 20 to 30. But these last few are making me work.
I did the Spark Coach program which really put me back on track with my eating and got me going more on exercise.
MawMaw told me about this program. She is my spark buddy on the 5% fall challenge.
I think the bottom line is I may have to cut my calories even more but I am resisting that. My measurements are pretty much what they were at my goal weight with just a little extra and I mean a little here and there.
The thought has crossed my mind that I could actually be building some muscle which I know weighs more than fat. I would like to lose that little bit more, because I think I would feel more comfortable in some of my clothes.
So, that's my story and I am sticking to it! emoticon
I figure each extra thing I do can help me along the way!
I thank you Gill for being so diligent with your encouraging emails and the links each morning!

This time is THE time!

I'm just seeing this now, SWEETENUFGILL, and thank you . I don't know what happened to all the weekly Digests that I receive, as I only received one last night and almost zero spark mail. I went to that area late this morning, where we sort of renew it, but I don't see much of anything from the teams I connect with. I was not notified of any spark messages, but see I got to from this team.

I will check out Linda's website. I'm excited about doing something new.

Sincerely, Janis

Spark People Team Leader, GLITTERGIRL, from Team, "I Can't Do This On My Own", helped me reach my goal in 2012. I was able to maintain my weight for several months, but now I have to get serious again as much of my hard work I let go of, putting my focus on another issue. I will keep on, until I get back to my goal.

Hi Janis!

I have certainly had my money's worth out of my copy of "100 Days of Weight Loss".

There are always links on Linda's website to where you can buy it from her. There are also usually cheap copies on Amazon as it is not a new book. There are kindle versions, and an audio book version.

Click on the team logo to take your to the website.

Linda has a few books now. We use three of them:-

100 Days of Weight Loss - our main one.
100 MORE Days of Weight Loss - a new one that we've worked through recently.
Friends with the Scale - a shorter 28-day book we do from time-to-time.

I just posted a getting ready thread in the Lessons Forum you might find helpful.

I am feeling I need to try something new to me, and I'm being driven to this team. I believe it may have been 2 years ago, or possibly longer I had emails sent to my email box concerning 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda, but I never went anywhere with it. Sometimes I'm trying too many things. Now I am feeling this will be a motivating time for me.

I definitely want to get the book too, so I don't know if it may be available at Wal-Mart. There are no book stores in my area where I shop. I suppose I may have to buy it on amazon, or does Linda sell them on a website? I only want to start with one book. I've never been one that reads a lot, but believe me I've bought many, many books. If it grabs me in interest I read it. I sure want to give this a try.

I'm really excited about this, I will be looking for feedback tomorrow.
Looking forward to becoming acquainted on this Team.

Sincerely, Janis
