Hi, I'm Suzanne and am happy to be part of your team. I will turn 60 in January and really need to get a handle on my emotional eating. I ordered the 100 Days of Weight Loss book when I signed up for this team. It arrived from Amazon this afternoon and I will start reading it tomorrow - Day 1.

Has this book helped motivate you? I am really looking forward to Day 5 and the "magic notebook" that I read about in the Amazon preview. Sounds very helpful.

Glad to be with you, Suzanne

Welcome

There is a post about what day you are on. This is where we post about each day.

I found the book so very helpful. There is a lot of information and you should spend as many days on a "day" as you need. Some of us are reviewing days done long ago. I did 60 days really consistently, then took a big break and now I am finishing the rest.

Hi all,

Lindy here, from Australia. I am 49, happily married, no two legged kids but I have 3 beautiful cats and one lovely dog!
I found the 100 days book last weekend and am currently doing day 3. Actually, I have been doing day 3 for 3 days! LOL I got "stuck" on it... sheesh, it's only day 3 for pity's sake! emoticon
Anyway, it's nice to find this group and I hope to meet you all as time goes on.
BTW- I can't seem to see a section where I can look at other people's posts about their experiences as they work through the days? Can someone help please?

Thanks a lot,

Lindy

Hi everyone. I am 55 years old, will be married 30 years in July. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, right beside the Atlantic ocean.

I've been on Sparks for almost 3 years, The most I have weighed is 305 lbs, lost over 75 lbs by last summer, but have struggled off and on for almost a year now. Have gained back some of my weight and for me I really need to learn to stop using food as my crutch when life gets out of whack.

Kitt has inspired me so much that I have decided to listen to her advise and read these books. So am patiently waiting for both books to arrive and will be able to participate more with the board.

Hope to get to know everyone here.

I've posted a few time but never really introduced myself. I am 62, retired, live in an active over 55 community in central Florida, have a wonderful husband of 14 years, and a really sweet 10 month old puppy.

I never remember a time when I was not seriously overweight. At age 11, height 4'11" I weighed 123 pounds and was no longer able to wear children's clothing. Time did not improve things. Unfortunately for many reasons I was a very unhappy child and that leaked over into a very unhappy young adulthood. Things started to turn around for me at age 30 and my life gets better and better. Food however has been an on-going problem. I am so ready to control what I eat.

Spangle has really struck a chord with me and I am committed to changing how I eat forever. I am not on a diet, I am learning how to eat to stay healthy.

I am glad to find this group.

Hi me again! I joined once before by faith of course this time I just ordered the book emoticon . I am vowing that this is the last emotional/dieting book I am ordering. I started misusing food in the 6th grade sort of off and on. I had some personal issues ((who does not have them))?? But since getting married and having kids. Seems to be going down hill. I am a mom of a special needs kid so stress is a daily factor. Got some health challenge but I do not allow that to stop me. Give me a challenge and I will attack it full force. Still I am determined to over come this. I am married just had our anniversary 20 year. Two teenagers and An 11 y/o. In the past the most expensive diet book that I brought was the Beck Diet Solution book/activity almost 75 dollars. it did not help. Too many activities and card reading NO WAY!! No more this is it. Not knocking it if it worked for someone... Just not me.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

you can order them online at weightlossjoy.com (& sign up for her free newsletter & download some free stuff to go along with the 100 day challenge. if you order both, i think there's a break.

i ordered mine at 2 different times from Amazon. One of them from her & she signed it, i was so surprised. So, she's a real person, seems to really care :)

Or maybe have a local boookstore order it in :)

I hope the books help spark you! Medical issues can make things so much tougher & slower but everything we can do to help slow it down or improve all adds up! Hang in!

emoticon emoticon emoticon Hi Rogue! Welcome :)

So very cool that she signs the books, huh. I was so surprised!

and the eating "impulsively" rang a bell with me too. At times I wonder if it borders to compulsively in the worst of times but there are so many times when I can make the choice to eat well. I tend to trigger over pizza or ice cream if I see it (like dh brings it home) so the impulsive just hit the spot for me.

I think we have some good reading ahead to ponder!

Hi everyone! I am so happy to have found this group (after finding Linda's books). I just got my autographed copy in the mail yesterday (100 Days). I also have Life is Hard, Food is Easy. The title of the book just grabbed me...I am a major, major emotional eater and have been eating "impulsively" (per Linda) for years. I've had bouts of bulimia but that's under control. I just want to get control of the bingeing once and for all.

I'm 40, married for 12 years and have two children, ages 5 and 4 (girl and boy). I work full-time as an elementary-school teacher. I am so tired of holding onto this weight. I've had it and am ready for a big change!

emoticon emoticon emoticon Hi Diane & Tammy! Welcome :)

sorry, i was away a few days and am so tickled to see new friends here!

I think a lot of us have done the yoyo & struggle getting past a certain point... i'm sure we all come from a bit of different background and i'm always amazed how we end up facing so many similar struggles. as we really face those, we'll be learning the skills we need to really deal with these things, grow and learn to keep the weight off.

i'm excited & so far have found a lot of Linda Spangle's ideas inspiring. Hope y'all do too :)

Cheers, jules :)

Hi, I'm Tammy! I joined Spark late last year. I've struggled with my weight for years. I seem to lose a gain the same 10 pounds over and over. Whenever I get close to onederland, the scale begins to move up away again. I'm about to turn 50, life is changing and I'm having a hard time adapting to it. I don't pretend that my troubles are bad, just sad. Does that make sense? As if the whole world is moving on EXCEPT me! I feel out of control. LOL I suppose that is actually a topic for my blog. Anywho, I can't even remember how I found my way in here, but, feel this will help so much. Because, one thing I DO know, I'm not happy with myself and I truly believe we must be that first before we can commit to ANYTHING. I am going to order those books today and look forward to following this team as I read and learn.

Tammy

Thanks Jules I found it and order the books from her site...I also got the first part of the book, I down loaded it....
some powerful stuff.
I made my list why I want to loose weight...
I'm going to try and follow it step by step.
I loved what she said about getting the tools to calm, nurture and energize yourself so that food doesn't have too do it for you....
that speaks loud and clear to me...
thanks for telling me about this.

How do I get the news letter. I'm going to order both books on amazon as our book store doesn't have either one and says it will be 2 weeks to get them.

Hi Kitt :)

I think sharing support with teams & friends here is maybe the 1 thing that keeps me going the most! I'm so glad you joined the team to check this stuff out & hope it will spark you :)

Some of the ideas I really love, like day 1 in the book. I skip the ideas I'm not comfortable with.

The material in the 100 days book and the Life is Hard book are similar. The 100 days was written later and is daily readings/ideas and uses a lot of the same material as in the other book. So I'll probably read Life is Hard after I read the 100 days book.

I love her email newsletters too. They are always inspiring :)

I know a few of you and wanted to join to get some new ideas on how to stay on track...I am almost to my goal but know the journey will never be over...
I have days that I wonder why I bother and then days that are easy....I'm trying to learn to find that happy place, and wonder if that is possible...Thanks jules for all your support and help.
I don't have the book but am debating about buying it...I have been at this most of my life loosing and then gaining it all back and then some, I'm to old to do this again so I'm determined to get it right this time....I gather strength helping others..
please read my spark page when you get a chance it has more about my journey, I don't want to bore anyone.

Have a healthy day

emoticon emoticon Hi CindyLou ~ Welcome!

emoticon i still love day 1! I think it will be one of my all time favorite skills, and I think that's the whole point, eh? Find the ideas that really work for us.

I also have found I do a few chapters a week instead of daily... some things really hit the spot, others not as much.... but it's even good to know what isn't working well right now, maybe later. We do change as we grow through the process!

Good Luck with your goals! I look forward to going through the journey with you :)

Hi team members, I just re-joined SP yesterday. I was on another site that uses the 100 Days of Weight Loss book. It was a nice site, but there isn't any site support or professional nutrition or fitness guidance at all. And I liked all the fun stuff here, so I came back. I have the book and have done the first 3 days of exercises. I'm going to do them over though, so I can add my notes to the special notebook section that created here for me. I'm not going to overwhelm myself with thinking I have to do one assignment every day, however. I'd like to just work through them at my own pace so I can remember all the information and even practice the new tools. I'm thinking maybe one each week, but I'll see. I have also been getting the e-mails and enjoy reading them all.

I look forward to getting to know you all and hope to make some new friends here on SP. Cindy

I do most of my work at home, and i think that's partly why i love SP so much! It's a way for us to connect with other people who get it! :)

I've found some nice ideas in the book that work well for me. Hope you will too :)

Hi all I have been looking at this team for a while. I am joining by faith and hope to have the book at least this weekend. I've struggled with mindless and emotional eating for some time. I want to over come this, and get more healthy. I been a member of sp for a long time now. I've been married almost 20 years, got 3 kiddos. One just turned 18 , soon be to 16 and 12. So my time is tight. I am a SAHM. Looking for some friends on my journey. See ya on the threads when the book arrives.

Jae, i got mine on amazon, and even a used copy will do! i'm a cheapskate, lol, and i even got my books last year & promptly ignored them!!!

but i've been reading her newsletters all year, and they are a bell ringer for me.... especially with the emotional eating & craptacular stuff that makes me want to dive back into food!

some of the stuff is gr8, i skip the stuff that's not a good fit with me & i think that's ok... we all have to find what works for each of us :)

Hi Donna! As you can see there were a few of us who read the book before Christmas (I was the leader). I personally will not be going through the book again but maybe a group will go through it together if there's enough interest. It was a really good book with great ideas. Good luck to you!

Hi I'm Donna, is it too late to join this group? I don't have the book, but was doing a search and this is something that I need. When will the group start again with day 1?

Welcome to the team Alison! You can check out some of the old posts from earlier in the book if you like. Also to the daily chat thread. This is a quiet team but there are a few of us here everyday. Looking forward to getting to know you and what you think about the book.

Hi, my name is Alison and I am new to this team. I recently bought this book and I am now on Day 15. I am using these strategies in conjunction with another similar book "The Beck Diet Solution". It's interesting that many of the daily challenges are so similar. I have been following the "Beck" approach for over a year, but I felt like I needed some new ideas.

I am currently a team leader on the "Living Binge Free" forum and am doing my best to apply all these great ideas within a "binge free" model. My main goal is to develop a healthy relationship with food.

I am 41 years old and Mom to two young boys (9 and 6). I never learned how to eat to fuel my body. With a high metabolism as a youngster I just ate as much crap as I could get my hands on because I could get away with it. I never made the connection between eating healthy and my body. With my metabolism slowing down, NOW I FINALLY get the connection!!Lol!!

Anyways, I am hoping to add some of Spangles ideas to my tool box and get closer to my goals (weight and relationship with food).

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Alison

Hey! My name is Jessica and I found out about this book from someone in one of my other teams. She was reading it and posting about it in her blog. I decied to start on September 23rd (exactly 100 days from the end of the year) and I finally got my book in the mail a few days ago. Today I am on day 8 and I am liking it so far. I am also using some of the tools she has made available on her website. I am using her calendar to put a sticker on each day and how well I did that day and I am also using her money jar technique. So far I am loving it. I am excited to get to know everyone in this group.

A little about me, I live in Idaho and I currently work full time and I am a full time student. I am a junior and majoring in Marketing. I live with my boyfriend of almost 3 years and I love my life. I have so much planned for my future and I can't wait to meet my health goals. I like to meet new people and I am always busy 24/7. I am 20 years old. I am originally from northern idaho but I am living in southern idaho to attend college.

Hi I just turned 57. Married for 35 years. I have a daughter at home and will be as she has mild cerebral palsy and a son also with disabilities but now doing well on his own. I have two labs that are very much family members and not just dogs! I love needlework of all types. I do therapy with home health 4 days a week so travel a lot each day.
