Thanks for the welcomes! Sorry for the delay. I somehow didn't have it checked to receive updates. Look forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi Suzie:) I am new too, but actually hadn't posted over here because I am an in-between trail runner & hiker. Sorry to hear about the surgery, but glad you are able to get back on the trails. I have found that the trails have been easier on my metal ankle, even with all the lateral stuff. The pavement destroys me at times. I hear you on having to shift to paved paths as winter approaches. I am sad thinking about it:( Think I may take up snowshoeing this winter just so I can hit the easier backwoods trails!

We ARE all trail lovers:) Trails are what brought me to enjoying running, however bad I am at it. lol

Welcome! I don't run all the time either, I mostly hike right now. I think this group is really Trail Lovers!

I just thought about looking for a trail running group and here I am.

I'm not new to SparkPeople and I'm not new to hiking. But I'm newbie to trail running but I don't consider myself a runner yet. I joined a 5k trail beginner group a few weeks ago that meets one evening per week. Due to a slow healing foot (from a surgery last Feb.) I was told not to run and I've been working with a physical therapist. Then I sprained my ankle jogging when I was shouldn't have been... I'm cleared for some running and I'm loving running on the trails so much more than pavement which is just a chore and about time.

Our group has to move off the trails for the rest of the fall/winter because of lack of light but I'm looking forward to challenges of mother nature until we get back off road.
