i too had that problem. i now set aside a certain dollar amount that i can have fun with, whether it be to buy something or go to the movies or something that way i don't deny myself anything but know that i only have a certain amount and when it's gone there is no more til the following month. it works because i'm more frugal with what i use my money for.

Thanks so much for the great welcome & advice.
I will be sure to check out the link for my budgeting & I also like the idea of the envelopes.

I need to start paying for stuff with cash only rather than just whipping out my bank card. I know it's easier for me to keep track if I use cash.

Have you read any of Dave Ramseys books? Put yourself on an envelope system. When the money in the envelope is gone, you are done spending. It really helps me to curb impulse buys out of concern that I will run out of money, especially for food. It will also help you to know how much you are spending on any given category.

emoticon POKERSOPH to SparkGuy's Savings Jar Club,

Glad you joined us. The team helped me to get on track not only with spending but savings.

Start working on the budget. Here is the link to spark savings.com, which helped me set one up. sparksavings.com/

Keep goals simple and develop one healthy area with not spending so much at a time - it really does add up. I started by not purchasing coffee at Dunkin Donuts everyday when I realized I was spending at least $60.00 a month on this alone.

I save my $1.00 a day and put all change aside daily. I have saved over 3 years worth of one dollar bills (over a thousand dollars). It helps to give yourself an incentive/reward - I always say I am going to use this for a vacation - but honestly, I now like those bills piling up.

We are here - so don't hesitate to ask questions.

I have a bit of a problem with money, spending money!
If I have it I need to spend it. I don't have any savings & I know that I do waste a lot of my money on things I don't really need.
I need to work on curbing my spending & cutting back. I'd like to get a budget sorted out so that I can start putting some savings aside.
