Hello. I live on a farm, and I am owned by several horses. I ride a paso fino (she is 6), a rocky mountain horse (he is 11), a breeding stock paint (he is 2). My husband and adult daughter also have some horses that I feed and take care of and they ride. My husband would have horses and take care of them himself if he didn't have me, so really I am lucky that I have him too! He takes care of the cow herd, which is much bigger than the horse herd, and I am happy with our division of labor. I have 3 dogs, various barn cats, chickens, ducks and the previously mentioned horses and cows.

I got my first horse when I was 31. Didn't have horses or lessons before than. The horse I bought was a 14 year old part arab and I loved her, she made me learn so much. She was not what I would call a beginners horse, most people would have quit, or at least gotten themselves a different horse! I have owned several horses since, lots of different breeds, but she was special...

I have gone to clinics for reining, working cows - team penning and sorting, and taken a few lessons. Mostly I like to trail ride or work in the arena on young horses. I have never competed in any horse events, not my thing.

Hi, my name is Katie. Other than a few trail rides as a teenager, I came to riding as an adult newbie. I ride English pleasure and have just found a horse to part-board. I will be riding 3 times a week and am looking forward to the physical and emotional fitness benefits.

I've been on Spart off and on for a while, but am just re-starting again today.

Best of luck to everybody!

Hello I am Diana and I am from Alberta Canada. I joined Sparks in March after a good friend of mine showed me this website. I really enjoy all the information and the recipes I have found. I recently tried to keep up with tracking my fitness and nutrition but I do miss somedays.
I have owned quarter horses most of my life. I used to show reining horses for several years. About 4 years ago I gave up showing and tried a little cutting.
We now enjoy just going on trail rides it is so much fun and we camp with the horses. My new project is learning to drive. We just purchased a buggy and my mare is going from reining horse to driving horse. Should be a hoot.
I am working on weight loss getting really fit I have 5 - 10 lbs to go to get to my altimit goal weight.
I really enjoy this team and will try to check in every day if I can.

Hi, my name is Bridget and I live in south Texas, just outside of Houston. I have been on and off Spark since 2009. I have loved horses since a child and was blessed enough to be around horses all my life. I didnt actually have my own till 4yrs ago.
I have a Off the Track Thoroughbred, that I got from a trader who in turn had bought from a auction. Sammie is super sweet and laid back. I have had several rescues and a few horses that I bought that were a little more than I wanted. I ended up giving them to people I knew. I love my horse, love the ranch I keep him at and could hang out there all day long with the owner and workers if I could.

Hi Everyone,

I just joined sparkpeople yesterday, partially because I want to get back in riding shape! I was one of those little girls that knew from the first time I met a horse that I was meant to ride. I didn't grow up in a horsey family, but my parents scrimped and saved to put me in lessons when I was about 7, and I rode every chance I could get from then on. I shoveled stalls in exchange for extra lessons and riding time, and spent just about every free minute I had at the barn. Then, as often happens, grown up life and work got in the way - when I was about 15 I fell in love with a boy, got busy with jobs and school, and riding fell by the wayside. I haven't ridden regularly since then, but this spring nothing is stopping me from getting back into it. I'll hopefully be starting lessons again next week, and my goal is to get to a physical and financial position to lease a horse by next summer.

It's nice to read all the introductions and see that everyone here is as horse crazy as me!

I have been horse crazy ever since I can remember emoticon

I was never able to have my own horse as a kid because my parents didn't know anything about them, but they always encouraged my love of them by taking my to lessons and trail rides.

Now that I am 23 I can't officially afford my own horse, so I lease.

My boy is a 6 year old 16hh Paint Gelding, hes is the goofiest great guy ever! I love him like my own.
For the last year we have been focusing on his training and getting him to listen (it's been a challenge, stubborn I tells you!) but now we are getting ourselves ready for show season. The plan is to do some eventing with him, he is fast and loves to jump!

I'm so happy that the weather is finally getting better to ride! bring on the sunshine! emoticon

Hi, My name is Marie and I'm a horse -aholic. We have 2 horses and try to ride and work with them as the weather allows. I give lessons on horsemanship and riding to non-horse owners using our horses as 'schooling horses'. My dad surprised me with "Misty" when I was a teenager. I'm a 4-H Horse mom. Our daughter competes in 4-H in the driving division and also rides her 13.3 hand POA. We love to go trail riding. Last night we went to a "Girls' Night Out" at our trainer's arena and had a great time. We took another teen young lady and on the horses the girls played with the equi ball. Then I set up an obstacle course and gave the girls a pattern for it to perform. I had the girls let me get on my mare and ride the obstacle course too. It was all lots of fun and exercise.

I've been crazy about horses since I can remember. When my husband was stationed at Ft.Bragg, NC in 1977, I saw the child across the street receive a pony for Christmas. I told him then that before we started a family, I just had to have a horse. He was wonderful and not knowing anything about horses, I ventured out and bought my very first horse--Midnight. I bought her complete with Western tack, grooming equipment, feed and hay for $500! She racked and I decided that I was going to use her to jump. Ignorance is bliss. At that time the post had a hugh barn with wonderful horse people. I decided on English lessons. I took group lessons and individual ones on Midnight. A pony club started at the barn and I was able to get dressage and jumper lessons from the pony club instructor. Believe it or not, that little horse turned out to be a wonderful jumper. As our farewell present, the barn trailered us to Southern Pines where they have wonderful jumps.

We were transferred to Hawaii. I sold Midnight and had horse withdrawals. I bought a chestnut half Arab/QH gelding, Stormy. I again took lessons and progressed with jumping. Family time had finally come, and I leased out Stormy. It was not finacially feasable to take Stormy with us and we left Hawaii for Massachusetts. Then came long years of family and no riding.

My husband retired from the military and we decided on Virginia. He knew of my love of horses and we looked for a place for horses. I bought a sweet bay TB mare by the name of Dream Catcher. I was thinking of getting into jumping again. My husband gave me lessons for mothers day and I was hooked on Dressage. It was only local schooling shows but dreamer and I worked our way up over the next couple of years to being the champion at most of the shows for entry level and then training level. Unfortanely she was an older mare and she succumbed to colic. My trainer raised Arabs, I bought a filly from her--Klassi Lady. Mean while I had helped to break and train a couple of horses for my friend, and had decided to try my hand at raising some of my own. I bought a Hanoverian mare in foal to an Arab, and another Hanoverian mare to breed and a Arab mare to breed to a Hanoverian. I won't go on with details, but had four gorgeous foals. It was an experience.

It is a great feeling to know that you have done all the training of your horse your self and a little scarey. As the years have gone by, time has not been good to my health or weight.
I had knee surgery twice and then problems with my back and then neck surgery. Each time I'd gain a little weight and a little more and like some people have posted, before you know it you don't feel like you should be on the back of a horse.

Last year I lost about 30 pounds and have felt much better and this year I decided that I really needed to get fit along with watching my weight. I've been exercising regularly for 6 weeks. I saw my trainer last week, she had said that I needed to get back riding and I said my usual about my knees always hurting. Then I remembered that the exercises I had been doing included knee bends and although achey some times, they weren't painful.

I then watched an old video taken of a lesson of me on dream catcher. Watching it, I could see things that I had been doing wrong with Klassi. I had just read an article in Practical Horseman about stacking your hips and shoulders. Using your breasts as "headlights" to see where you were going. It all clicked togther. All of a sudden I just couldn't wait to get back on and ride. So I just want to let the world know that for the first time this year and in a long time Monday March 7th I rode Klassi Lady! It was the most amazing ride. I was able to post. I remembered to keep the outside rein steady and lift up on the inside rein when asking for the canter and for the first time ever I had her given me the right lead canter when I asked the first time. I had to yell out to my husband, "did you see that." No, he didn't, but he wanted to so he asked me to do it again. I was afraid that it would go all wrong, that she would be anxious now that she knew I'd be asking for the canter. But no, it went perfect again. The left lead went well too.

So I had to let some one know that I'm so happy and I want to be back riding again!

A few years ago I got back into horses after raising my kids. I really enjoyed it, and even raised a filly. The problem was that my hip joints would hurt so bad I couldn't ride. I found great homes for our horses. I miss them like crazy!

Now I've discovered that I have a sensitivity to gluten and that is what was causing the inflammation that made my joints hurt so bad. I'm already having some improvement, and I can't wait to ride again.

I'm mostly a trail rider... I love to be out in nature.

I've set a goal to buy or lease a horse again by mid-summer. I hope to see you out on the trails!

Life's a song; let's sing from the heart!

Hey Everyone!
My name is Lori and have been on SP for a few years and love it! I'm 34, married with 2 girls. I joined this team as a barn mom but I am truly a wannabe rider - lol! I've never owned a horse or have taken lessons (well but a few) but I used to trail ride quite a bit! My problem is that I've always been too heavy to ride (or at least believed I was). Lately I've had a few people tell me that I'm not too heavy and I'm just trying to get that in my mind. Riding and owning a horse has been a dream of mine for a very very long time and I've always had it set as a reward once I reach my weight loss goals. My 14 year old used to ride untill she had a fall! Afterwards she has always been nervous. Not too nervous to get back on, but nervous to want to continue. My youngest daughter who's 8 has the love for horses that I do! I dream of riding with her and I feel like I'm getting closer to that dream - YAY!~ So after all that I look forward to meeting you all!!!

Hi, I'm Catie. I just joined Spark since I need to drop some weight and get back into shape as I get back into competing. I've been riding since I was 5, so twenty plus years. I've done hunters, jumpers, dressage, even dabbled in western pleasure, but am currently at an eventing barn. I also have interests in endurance and fox hunting.

My partner in crime is a 16.2h chestnut thoroughbred mare named Fiona (Can't Drive 55 at shows) who is eight. I've had her for six months now. I got her off of Craigslist when the owner didn't have room for her. She didn't do much other than sit in a pasture, and she was a broodmare, so she's mentally a four year old. Hopefully this summer we'll make it to our first Beginner Novice horse trial, but we'll see.

It's nice to meet everyone!

Hi! I'm Amanda, I'm 25 been riding since I was 9. I've done a bit of everything in the horsey world, ridden at the race track (badly), started 2yo's for racing (much better), western pleasure, barrel racing, hunter jumpers, and more recently Dressage. I was doing okay with that. I broke my pelvis a few years back in a freak accident and I've steadily put on weight from that. I'm trying to lose it and start riding professionally again, maybe even get my own horse or mule to train. I'd really like to stay in western riding. The community of it is so amazing! Now I'm about to have a baby, am trying to improve my eating habits, I'm also teaching centered riding, dressage and western pleasure on a private level. I loooove to teach! But man I can't wait to ride again! Good to meet you all and I hope to make some horsey friends!

Hi everyone,
I just joined SP yesterday. I joined mostly to help me reach a higher fitness level and maybe lose a few more pounds. I share our horse, a 12-year-old quarter horse mare with my daughter. We've tried many fun things with her, western trail, dressage, jumping and now some bridleless, but no interest in competion. Our horse is the main reason I wanted to lose the last 10 lbs. and get more fit because my goal is to ride well bareback.
I'm 47 years old and have only been a horse owner for the last five years.
Horses are incredible teachers if we care to listen to them. Looking forward to meeting some other horse lovers.

Hello, I am not new to Spark People but I am new to this group. I joined Spark People in 2009, lost a few pounds, got pretty "proud" of myself, stopped working on my weight loss and quit visiting the site. Gained back what I lost. Added another 17#. Now, I THINK I am ready to "get back on the horse that threw me" and go to work. I made a New Year's Resolution this year that even I can keep. My resolution is "Start" to lose weight in 2011. Now that problem is out of the way, I feel good about keeping my resolution and have lost 9# since January 2.

I joined this group because you talk my language. Horses! My life's passion is horses. I was born with a horse waiting for me and I have been so very fortunate to have always been able to keep at least one horse. For the past 25 years (oh, that sounds like such a long time....) my husband and I have been raising Arabian horses. We live in the mountains of Northwest Colorado and right now it is snowing, again...

I'm Shannon. I'm new to both the team and Sparkpeople and took horseback riding lessons, but had to give them up due to the increasing difficulty of my honors and AP classes in high school as well as practicing my saxophone to be a music major. I hope to get back into riding, maybe not until I'm out of college and have more time. I've always wanted a horse and hopefully I can have one someday.

New to the team and SP (well a week!). I'm Jenn, live in Ontario, Canada and have a lovely dutch warmblood named Symon. My goal is dressage (well!), so need the lbs off so I can look remarkable in those white breeches. I have been riding since the age of 2 and have had horses for 15 years now. First was an OTTB oliver who was only with me for 6 months, bad accident at the barn while I was on vacation. Next was Beau, great teacher but his love was jumping mine, not so much (bad accident for me when I was younger). The Celebration (one I always wish I didn't sell) a ISH filly who I never did ride. Now Sy.. my rehab horse but is AMAZING and absolutely the perfect dancing partner for me.

Hello!
My name is Sarah. I've been riding horses since I was 7 years old and first discovered the sport at summer camp.

I recently moved to the UK from Canada, and after a few years of deciding what to do with my beloved mare, Tess, finally took the plunge and arranged to have her shipped over here to be with me!
She's awaiting quarantine at the moment, but we should be reunited by the middle of March. I am so excited!

Here are some pictures of my baby:

Hi, I've loved horses my whole life, but never had a chance to be around them (poor city kid). A couple years ago I took riding lessons for about 6 months and loved it, but I felt bad that I was so heavy, and it made my hips hurt. So I'm losing weight, and I really hope someday I can have a horse of my own. My husband and I have a nice little 3 acre property with a beautiful 2 acre pasture, right across the street from a state park with horse trails. I need to build horse-safe fences and a shelter, but I think it will eventually be a nice place for a horse. Finally fulfilling my dream of having a horse is one thing that's motivating me to really get in shape and lose weight.

Hi all!
I'm going to start taking horse riding lessons in February. I used to ride when I was younger, but I haven't been on a horse for about 15 years!

I love to be outdoors, I love animals, so this seems like a pretty good idea.

I'm hunting around for a good riding school to go to. Wish me luck!

Hi all horse lovers. I have been a member of Sparkpeople for two years but did not realize this team existed. I have lost 32 pounds and kept them off.
My husband and I live in NH and own 2 four year old miniature stallions, an eight year old miniature mare, a seven year old miniature mare and a 4 year old 1/2 Gypsy Cobb, 1/4 Paint and 1/4 Percheron filly. We are just learning how to train the minis to driving and the Gypsy to bridle and saddle. We are very new at this and reach out to all we know for advice. Good luck to all on your weight loss journey.

I will do what I need to do in order to do what I want to do.

Hey everyone! My name is Katy and I have 2 American Saddlebreds, Kappy and Griffin. Kappy is going to be 16 this year and I've had him from 6 years. He was my first horse and is the love of my life. He is retired from the show year and loves going out on the trails. Griffin is turning 4 in March and I've had him for a little over a year. He is my new show partner, who was bought as a project to resell eventually. I've been riding since I was 11. I rode huntseat for 3 years, did a little western, and the rest has been all saddleseat. I also teach part time at the barn. I show regionally around New England and have been since I was 15. Horses have been and will always be a major part of my life.

Happy riding!

Hi Everyone. I just joined SP today and I love meeting other horse people.

I've been riding since I was 11 (29 years - don't make me do the math). Mostly I rode hunter style. I was never really competitive though and did a few shows now and then riding in equitation and hunters.

10 years ago I moved to a dressage and eventing barn. I stopped competing around that time, but still enjoy the principles of dressage (as one person put it, dressage is like yoga. It may not be everyone's main sport, but it benefits horses and riders alike) and like to pop over a few jumps once in a while. I'm too chicken to do any serious cross country though.

I have 3 horses, although none of them are really mine.

Jenna is my husband's mare. She's a 15yo, 15 hand, chestnut Quarter Horse/Arab cross. She is his other wife. DH likes to ride her in basic level dressage competitions. She's a total handful though - one of the most challenging horses I have ever ridden. She is a beautiful mover, but freaks out easily.

My mother has two horses that I like to call "mine". She doesn't ride as much as she used to as she gets on in years, so it really is like they're my horses more and more these days.

Starbeam or "Baby" is a 22yo, 13.2h (I'm really short) POA. She doesn't have many spots though. She looks solid white unless you look at her up close. She has an enormous attitude (pony+mare+appy after all) but also enormous talent. Although she hates dressage, she's a lovely mover and jumps just about anything you stick in front of her. She LOVES to jump. Mom used to ride her in dressage competititions, but what she has really loved over the years is taking kids through the first levels of eventing. She has never gone further than beginner novice level, but I think in her younger years she could easily have gone training level.

Finally there is our newest addition, Riddle Me This or "Riddle". She is a 4yo Chincoteague Pony, born in the wild on Assateague and purchased at the Fireman's Auction on Chincoteague in 2006. I just started riding her this year. She's still developing, so I don't know where her talents will lie. She definitely had that "feral scrub pony" look in the first year or two of her life and I wasn't sure she would grow up to have much ability. She is turning out to be a nice mover. A trainer rode her in a dressage competition where the judge called her an "awesome mover". Just this week she went over her first jump with a rider on her back. She went over it cleanly and boldly, so we have high hopes for that too.

Riddle is just under 13 hands right now and I'm really too heavy for her. I am hoping that will change soon. I want to jump her some day, but I wouldn't make her haul my considerable bulk over jumps right now. She is one of the main reasons I want to lose weight though.

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to Spark People and was thrilled to find this team. I am a life-long horse girl. I started riding english at the age of five, switched to western at age 15, got my national coaching certification at age 18 and began training and coaching professionally at age 19. I did that for a couple years before deciding to go to university and am now a child mental health worker, still doing the odd equine job on the side. I am a "mom" to two beautiful horses, an appaloosa and a QH. Ok, now onto weight stuff.

I have gained 40 lbs since quitting the competitive horse world. Yuck. Well actually I gained 50 but lost 10, and now hope to lose 50 more. I do believe that walking away from my competitive horse life definitely impacted my weight gain, that and being in university where I drank and ate everything I felt like. Since then, I have not been able to lose much more than 15 lbs and have lost myself. I love my horses but my passion is gone. I rode maybe 4 times in 2010. How is that even possible?! Horses and riding have been my heart and soul for as long as I can remember... I don't even know how to find my way back. Maybe you all can help me here... I'm desperate to both lose weight and find myself again.

Best of luck to you all... I hope that we can support one another in achieving our goals!

Hey all, my name is Jen and I live outside of Austin, TX. I have battled with my weight since I was a teenager and especially after having 3 kids! I'm finding that as I get older it's harder to lose weight and so much easier to gain it back! I started the spark diet Dec 9th and have lost 8lbs since. I also am trying the C25K program (on week 2.) I've never been much of a runner but I like it so far. Give me a horse any day :)
My husband and I have 2 quarter horses, a sorrel gelding (my baby) and a black gelding. My husband is a roper and I have taken up the sport of cutting with some barrels in between (woohoo!)
I would love to get motivational tips and meet some new friends on here. God Bless!

Hello fellow horse lovers! I'm new to this group, but not to sparkpeople..been on the site for a few years. Gained and lost weight over and over again! This time I want it to stick!

Ok, on to the FUN stuff! I have 2 AQHA mares, 4 and 5 years old. The one my hubby rides is a dapple grey, and my ride is a chestnut with a coon tail...she is my baby that I do penning and sorting on. Any other cow horse crazy people here?

I also have 4 year old twin boys (see picture, LOL!). One of my boys "is a cowboy like mommy", and the other prefers video games. I'm also a certified teacher looking for a job since the economy took a turn for the worse. Look forward to "meeting" you all!

I have been on sparkpeople since February 2010. I have lost 61lbs since January 26, 2010. I still have over 50lbs to lose and trying hard to get rid of it once and for all. I love horses and currently own two, a quarter horse and a Thoroughbred.

I have been on sparkpeople for over 2 years.
But, have never touched base with any of the teams that I have been with. I have been working with thoroughbreds for about 6 months now and am loving truly loving it. I only get to work with them for about 6 hours, I do 4 stalls and brush a bunch of horses and do alot of ground work with them. I just don't know how to mark how much of a workout I'm truly getting. If anyone can help.

I have started fixing one dish each day to take down to lunch, to put a lower calorie dish to add to the meal, and leave leftovers for mom and Dad to have for supper. This seems to be working. Wild Rice has been a good base for dishes, and today, Broccoli slaw.

Karen,

It sounds like you need to sit down and plan for emergencies. If you have a plan in place you will be fine or at least for me that is a big part of staying on a diet or not. If I don't have a plan in place then I will end up at a fast food place or eating whatever is available. So, I am trying to make it easier on myself by having so many things in place that the easiest answer is my "eating program" foods.

I too have an odd schedule as I drive 1.5 hours to college and 1.5 hours home each day, plus taking care of my house, my husband, and my horses, while trying to do homework, study, and get some exercise in each day. So, whatever I am planning on eating has to be in the car and ready to eat or I will end up picking up chips at the gas station or going to a fast good place. If I have a plan in place then it is easier to eat the sandwich and carrots in my ice chest than to grab chips or a burger. Also, we have removed all of the "off program" foods from our house and that makes a huge difference in what I grab to eat if I have the munchies.

As far as eating at your mother's house, its all about portion control and you could work your dinner around whatever the calories were that you had for lunch by either adding a few calories or taking a few away.

good luck!!

Melissa

I can and will do this.

You are lucky. Planning meals for the entire day is what I try. But we always eat lunch with my parents, so my noon meal is at the mercy of her cooking (and if I fix something to take down, so I can have my kind of food) and by evening, we could be chasing after kids (sports and horses) or running a towtruck to some city or destination. Then I am at the mercy of Fast Food or waiting til we get home, and DH is against that. He likes for me to ride with for company, and then he wants to eat (so I don't have to cook.
Or we have company show up, and I have to fix according to what they will eat.

I did real well for couple of years about always ordering chicken and drinking water, but have gotten tired of chicken, and back to diet pop......which is my own will power giving up after 3 yrs of maintaining 15 lb weight loss. Since March of this year, I have gained it back. And it isn't going away easily.

Hi Karen!

I wake up in the morning and plan my food for that day. For me that is what one day at a time means. I just have to make it through today. Tomorrow will come and I will deal with that day when it comes.

I think that the "take one day at a time" attitude is what gets me in trouble. I keep thinking I will do better tomorrow. And tomorrow never gets here. I live a very hectic life, where we do whatever priority issue comes up that day....we very seldom get to do what we planned for on that day. (We farm, 80 head cow/calf, 3 tow trucks and I have office in home with 400 clients)

So it seems to be very easy for me to figure on eating different tomorrow, and I am not going to easily get on a horse pretty soon, in a today, unless I change my attitude/motivation.

Thanks for the welcome.

my problem is life gets in the way and I lose motivation. Go back to "surviving each day' mode, and eating goes by the wayside.

You came to the right place for moral support Karen. Your farm sounds wonderful. Be sure and use the Nutrition Tracker, and the Fitness Tracker. Both of those tools show where your strength and weaknesses are. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I am new to Spark message boards......
I live on a farm in iowa, and ride horses with my 2 daughters. I have 10 quarter horses that we have raised. I realizes Friday when I went to ride that my weight has gotten to the point where it is hard to mount. So i must find a way to lose some weight and get back to enjoying my horses.

Continued motivation is where I seem to fail in weight loss. I have had success in the past losing weight, but it slowly creeps back on when I get busy/distracted from paying attention to what I eat.

Hello! My name is Kristy. I am 18 years old and have loved horses since grade 7. I took lessons for a summer back then and loved it. However, I really didn't like the trainer and stopped riding for about 2 years because of it. I finally got back into it when my friend took me to the stable she went too where the horse I use to always ride was now at. I heard about about a summer program and immediately signed up. I spent the summer working as a "Captain" and mucked out stalls/paddocks, fed the horses, gave them water, helped tack up all the horses for lessons, swept the barn, cleaned the tack, helped with the lead line, brought in and took out the horses... I didn't get paid but I got free lessons. I was there about 3-4 days a week from 7am to about 4:30pm. It is the best job I ever had. The owner of the horse I use to ride let me ride every weekend for free in the winter time. Then the barn got shut down a year later.
After that I went with my friend to the barn where her horse is boarded. I leased a wonderful pony for 2 weeks but didn't like the trainer once again, so I ended that. I felt very sad because I loved that pony.
Now, my friend moved her horse to a wonderful board that has a great atmosphere, 2 indoor arenas, three outdoor arenas, and a beautiful barn. I am leasing a 5 yr old grey arabian at the moment named Stella. She can be a handful but is a big lovebug :) I am going this weekend to try out a 93% arabian gelding who is 13 yrs old. I am so excited and if all goes well, I will finally have a horse of my very own!!!!!!!
Sorry for the long description lol. I love horses :D

Hiya, I am 26yrs old and really love horses. I do not have one of my own due to time constraints and money but I absolutely love them and still assist with some training. Thought it would be good to see what was going on here and chat horses!

Hey
I just watched the flying frenchman video. It hit me that my riding is sometimes limited due to my back hurting. I bet if I tried standing instead of sitting my back would not hurt. ( yeah right)

Hi, my name is Sheila and I haven't rode in about 8 years. My son owns a Quarab and I am looking for a horse now.

I did find a great site for those of us who think we are too "fat" to ride. It is called " A fat girl and a fat horse." She is amazing and has lots of insight on overweight people who ride.

I really need some motivation. I do good for a while and then fall off the wagon and get ran over!

Nice to meet you all!

Hi guys,

I'm here with a new account, though I'm not new to sparks.
I haven't ridden in ages, unfortunately. I'd love to get back into the saddle though, it's something I really really miss.

I keep being unsure about contacting a stable again though, cause I worry I'll be told I weigh to much.
So, how much is to much? I'm at 282lbs now.
