You can't make him change, but you can change how you look at what he says. Instead of allowing what he says to hurt your feelings, look at it like a challenge, think of it as a challenge to prove that you can do it.

Oh, I've told my Dad how it makes me feel. He just changes the subject. In his eyes he never does anything wrong. But, I am not gonna let him discourage me. I am staying true to what I need to do. And I was looking at my readings over the week. I haven't gone over once! I am so proud of that. Hope you are having a good day & staying warm.

Its a hard lesson to to truly learn.
Unless it will make things worse, let your dad know how it makes you eel when he makes those types of comments.

You are so right. And it's a shame that it has taken me this long to get that through my head. But, this past day has me second guessing living with my Dad if I seriously want to lose weight. He is acting like it's a big joke. He has no idea how he is hurting my feelings. I have always been supportive of him. And now when I need him, he just says & does things to make me mad. Sorry, didn't mean to vent like that.

Hi Pam, welcome to the team!
It sounds like you have a lot of difficult things going on in your life. Remember that taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do. If you don't take care of yourself, it makes taking care of anyone or anything else even more difficult!

Hi everyone. My name is Pam. I'm 48 years old & recently moved in with my elderly father to take care of him. In that process I stopped taking care of me. I have many health issues. I have a disease called Lymphedema that makes my whole body retain an ungodly amount of water. Which makes me look 60 pounds or better more than I really am. I also have chronic back pain. My doctor is doing his part in helping me all he can. But, it's getting pretty serious for me as my Diabetes is now out of control. So, he recently put me on this 1,200 calorie a day diet. Told me I would start feeling much better when the weight starts coming off. I am doing this for my health & for my Daddy. He needs me & I'm not gonna let him down. And also, I am tired of being single. I would love to find a true gentleman. I guess I have it in my head that if I lose weight I will find him. But, I know it doesn't matter what a person looks like. It's what's inside that counts. But, not everyone can be that open minded. I WILL lose this weight for me & my health! I choose to live!
