I am following a plan that is written by a nutritionist, who not only has diabetes, but created a diet around managing insulin levels. Her theory is that even those who don't have diabetes or technically pre-diabetes can have certain symptom that can be helped through diet.

I did this plan once before and lost quite a bit of weight, and I'm trying it again.

It's called Metabolism Miracle - I have no affiliation with it, I just think it makes sense and know that it has worked for me.

Her website intro lists what she considers Metabolism "B" - which is the type of person who has trouble processing carbs - a bagel isn't filling, you eat less than others, but feel you are heavier:

"____ You tire easily and frequently feel fatigued, even upon awaking.

____ You feel mildly depressed.

____ You feel an energy slump in the late afternoon.

____ You frequently feel anxious.

____ You crave carbohydrate foods, such as bread, chips, sweets, or pasta.

____ Your midsection has a roll of fat., lovehandles, muffin top, or back fat

____ You gain weight easily and find it difficult to lose weight.

____ You have racing thoughts.

____ Your sexual drive has declined or vanished

____ You find it difficult to focus and concentrate and are easily distracted.

____ You are irritable and have a "short fuse".

____ You feel slightly dizzy, flushed, or "weak in the knees" after even a little bit of alcohol"

What everybody else said! It does work. You can do it.
You're going the right way - cut the carbs and just eat real food. Don't fall for the hype about "healthy grains" and lose any fear of fats that might be lurking around your thoughts. This is a good forum -- also visit us at the Atkins forum. The info is nearly identical, but I think that one is a bit more active.

Howdy all: I am trying my best to eat healthier, and keep my carbs in check. I am on day 5 of my new journey. I am not on any meds as of yet. Hoping by changing my lifestyle, losing weight and eating smart carbs to avoid being diagnosed with Diabetes. Being told, I was pre-diabetic was my wake-up call for sure. I am very glad to have found this team.
