I am "new" to SparkPeople....while, I have signed up before I was never mentally ready to committ to the site or to my weight loss journey....this time is real....

I am an over-eater....I eat when I am bored...I eat when I am stressed...I eat when I am happy.....basically, I eat....I eat....I eat....

I need to change this and hope to get some great tips/advice from this team and sparkpeople!

Weight, Organization, Nails, and Food...OH MY! (my 2011 Goals!)

2011 is my year to SHINE! SHINE! SHINE!

Hi, my name is Lauran. I am 37 years old and I have 100+ to lose to get to a healthy BMI. I have been on SP before and it really works as long as you stick with it. I was also on this team once before two years ago (under a different user name) and it was a wonderful experience. EVERYONE on this team is extremely supportive! I am so glad to be back! :) I had some serious health issues interrupt me, but I'm happy to have returned to SP for the new year. I am absolutely determined to make 2011 a healthier year than 2010. I know that rejoining this team is a step in the right direction. It's really nice to meet all of you & I look forward to being on this team again. Good luck to everyone! Happy New Year!

I want to lose 2 pounds per week & 100+ lbs. in 2012!! Reward: Trip to exotic locale with my husband. :)

New to the Team, although not to Sparkpeople! I've been here off and on for the last 3 years... and now more 'on' then 'off'.

Already lost a little over 100lbs and seeking to lose the last 30 or so, or at least reach my goal size.

I've struggled with compulsive overeating (or binge eating) my entire life. A recent diagnosis of depression led to being placed on a medication that curbs cravings. for the first time in my life I'm living Binge free.

I'm really excited to focus on my goal and finally achieve it in 2011!!!!

Looking forward to the support of fellow binge/emotional eaters.

Welcome to all 3 new team members. You have picked a great place to learn a lot about binge eating, and to help break that habit. Read lots of posts, and post your triumphs, and bad days too. Knowing you are not alone in your struggles really helps.

Hello team, I'm a binge eater. I was looking through the teams and clicked on yours to read some of the posts. I really didn't think I was a binge eater and have never read up on it. Turns out that I am and usually when I do and start gaining again I just quit following Spark or any diet and give up. Time to change that. I have joined all the team goals and am willing to learn something new about myself. I will be 60 in one month and I am hoping that you can teach an old dog some new tricks!

Merry Christmas and hi to every one. I haven't been actively using Sparkpeople since March...yikes. I really really NEED to get back on track.

This team caught my eye because I am constantly struggling with binge eating. So here I am, a newbie to this team.

Welcome to the team. My binge eating is at night too. I found that keeping busy for the first few days really helped. I found excuses not to be home in the evening, even. Read a lot of posts on this site, especially on the 21 Day Binge Free Streak and I am sure you will find some "tricks" that work for you.

Hi. I've been a binge/emotional eater for so long now that I don't know when it started, but I've never wanted to really admit it to myself, much less to other people. I'm glad to see that there's support here for this and I'm now on my third day of being binge-free. So I look forward to being part of this team. emoticon

Hi everyone...:) Just joined the team today but have been with SP for two years. Would love to learn some info I can put to use that'll help eliminate the binging, since it continues to erase all the progress I make and sends me back to square one every time. Ready for some lasting changes. emoticon

Fact: however long it'll take you to reach your goals, just remember that the time's going to pass anyway, so either you'll stay where you are now, or you'll be the "you" you dream about today:)

The only thing stopping me is me!

Welcome to the team Angie. You came to the right place for support, encouragement and education, too. I might suggest that you read the 21 Day Binge Free Streak posts and join the thread, and the Binge Free in December thread, too. We share how it's going, both good and bad and what worked for us. It helped me get over a summer long binge and now I have gone 51 days without a binge. You can do this if I can.

Hi, my name is Angie. I am a binge eater. I can go all day sticking to my plan. Then I go for a sugary snack, then another, then another, then pretty soon i dont feel too well. Physically and emotionally.
I need to learn some tricks for saying no to those moments.

Ann-Welcome to the team. This is a great place to learn some ways to deal with binge eating. If you had a handle on binging once, you can do it again. Don't worry about your weight right now, just your health. When you are ready and able to start your journey of weight loss, then weigh yourself. Until then, good luck and stay close to this team. We're here for you.

Hi! I am Ann and I am trying this one day at a time. I had not binged in a while then I went home for Thanksgiving. I was nervous and afraid of my parents saying something about my weight and I overate everyday until I returned home. Today I have done the same thing. i ate so much that I when my class started I was miserable and felt like I needed to throw-up. I do not want to continue this way and every time I think I have it conquered I fall again.

I don't know my true weight because I stopped weighing myself years ago. That actually helped me because I stopped obsessing over the number. I weigh somewhere between 260 and 300, I think. So, my ticker's wrong.

My name is Amanda and I am a BOREDOM eater. I will sit and watch tv and eat, eat and eat and if I'm not eating I'm thinking about food, I am one of those people that if subway comes on the tv I am like "ooooooooh that sounds good", then 5 mins later a Red lobster commercial comes on then I want that. I am constantly thinking about food and my husband thinks its funny. I eat way toooooo much and need help!!!!
I think one of my biggest problems with food and binge eating is I don't know when to stop, I just love the taste of it and crave more and more so even when I am full I still want to eat. If only they made a gum lol. I need to learn a way to not overeat because I will literally go to the store at 11pm to get ice cream or whatever because of impulse and I need to learn not to do that!

I can relate to the overexercising and overeating, Becca. As to back to normal, who know what normal is? I talk to friends about their eating habits and even ones who are normal weight and seemingly only eat to live, not live to eat do what I would call binging once and a long while. I'm not saying binging is normal, only that our concept of what is clean eating is so skewed that just not binging may be all I can ask. Good luck on your journey to being binge free. Be good to yourself today.

Initially I was binging and overexercising so I didnt gain weight....then I became anorexic ...then therapy and I've been eating again for a year and a half
.....but....the binging is getting worse and worse again
So now I'm 12lbs overweight and am having such trouble getting control!
It's been 3 1/2 days with no binge then today....hungry (legitimately) after dinner and so I had a small snack which ended up being my small snack and a bunch of bread and cheese :(

Argh

Is there anyone who has successfully stopped binging and gotten back to normal? Its Been sooo long that im starting to wonder of this will ever go away!

I'm new! I finally realized this year that I have a binge eating problem. I've hid it from my loved ones and friends - no one would ever suspect I do this. I would not say it is severe, but I do not want to be burdened with this the rest of my life.
It has been very helpful to read through your posts - I have already ordered a book and meditation CD based on your suggestions.

I find that keeping busy and exercising in the early evening really helps me prevent binging - but I do find this time of year (grey cold weather) makes it worse, AND the weekends are tough. I am a student and food has always accompanied my studying - this is my biggest struggle. If there are any other students out there like this - please let me know your tips!

Thanks creating this group :)

Hi everyone, I'm Heather. For reasons unknown to me, over the past year I've become a closet binge eater. I've put on thirty pounds in the last eleven months. I'm terrified, and I don't know how to stop myself.

I'm here to get the tools to break the knee-jerk reaction to eat and get my life back.

Wow, so glad I discovered this page (thanks to Island Sharon for commenting on my blog).

I was on a three year long binge (the longest I've ever had) and a very big weight gain (the largest I've ever had). Just couldn't take the self-abuse any longer, not to mention how tired and depressed I became.
Started out on another food tracking site and somehow found SP. emoticon
Trying to take this a day at a time (seems to be working!) but am terrified of the upcoming holidays.
So nice to find yet one more group of like-minded people.

Hi. I just found this team that I absolutely need to be part of. When I'm completely honest about it, I understand that I binge because I've always felt like I've been deprived and missing out.
I can't believe I just said that out loud!
Thanks everybody!
Be well!

Hello, everyone. I have been a member since June, but have not been active. I have been dieting since age 13, and have only gotten bigger and bigger. I am a binge eater. At this point, I am nearing 300 lbs., have been on every diet known to man and am now considering a lap band. I know these things do not have any effect on the eating disorder, so basically I need help and probably professional as well. Thanks for being here. I am not too good with the computer, so that has been a stumbling block as well. I have been reading all of your comments, and they are helpful. I am going to try to learn how to white-knuckle it, if I may coin one of your phrases, and try not to eat through the next struggle. Hang in there, everybody! emoticon

Hi everyone, I've been off and on Sparkpeople and off and on many diets, eating plans, and exercise plans. I'm just coming out of a period in which I wasn't doing anything to help myself. I was injured and couldn't exercise but recently had surgery so I'm healing. I'm trying to change my eating habits but I deliberately binge and seek out bad food all the time. I attribute these behaviors to stress and loneliness...having a void that I've been unable to fill. Just wanted to say hello and I hope I can get to know some people on here.

I've returned to Spark after not having internet access for a while. Have done well on my own, but can use the extra support now that the holidays are approaching. Haven't binged since July 15th. Stopped trying to "diet". Am eating healthy and getting some exercise.

I was a member of this team a year ago. I am much better with my binge eating than I was, but I still have problems with unconscious binge eating or just feeling so hungry that I don't care what damage I'm about to do and then when I'm done I feel terrible, when in fact, it really wasn't hunger, it was something else. I often eat out of emotion or mood.

I really need the daily help and support of a group, so this will be very helpful to me.

Hello Everyone,
My name is Angel and I am a binge eater. I recently lost 60+ pounds while doing this diet. I don't feel deprived or anything but, I believe when I am doing great on my diet and somehow in between my binge start. First I'll have something small and have several other servings of another food unitil I realize what I've done. I really want and need some help from the group because my eating is out of control and halting my progress. I don't want to go back from where I started. I hope that soon I will be able to help myself with the behavior. I will not give up neither should you if you are anything like me. We will overcome this together.

Use negetivity and name calling as your motivation.
