emoticon Howdy! I joined a few days ago and thought I would jump in and introduce myself. I'm Tonya and I live in Wisconsin. I'm a mother, wife, blogger, etc, etc... and I'm aiming to keep up a streak of fitness. I walk a lot as part of my fitness program, but I really want to push myself to get those 10,000 steps a day.

Hello. My name is Yvonne and I have been doing horribly with my activity level. I just found out that I gsve a ridiculous number of food allergies that have caused me to gain 73% of my body weight since 2007. Of course, doctors told me that I was lying about walking 4 miles a day and eating a healthy diet so, I gave up a long time ago. I have very recently left the Army and am now embarking on a new career in healthcare (ironically, dietetics) so, I need to become more physically representative of my medical beliefs. I currently live in an area with no sidewalks but, I'm moving to my internship site in 2 weeks and there's sidewalks plus a trailhead only blocks from the apartment building so, I plan to enjoy the city trail system when weather permits. Right now, I'm working on relaxing and enjoying the walk instead of tracking time and/or distance like I did in the Army so, working on daily steps will be an easy, no pressure, approach to improving my activity and reducing stress simultaneously.

Hi walkers! I am so glad to join this team. My goal is 5 miles walking every morning before my physical job and more on the weekends. I am rebuilding myself from 13 months of ridiculous eating and non-exercise.

Long distance walking is something that I can easily do and have accomplished in the past. I am adding steps very slowly while my body adjusts to eating very healthy once again.

Hi, there! Walking is my favorite way to exercise, and I'm getting back into the groove after a very sedentary summer. My current daily goal is 7,000 steps. I'm not there yet, but I'm feeling better than I did when I was averaging 2500/day.

I'm looking forward to getting to know the "10K Steps a Day" team, and getting my step count up!

Hello 10k, I'm Vickie. I blew the dust off my old pedometer over the weekend and wore it for a day. What an eye opener! I can't believe how sedentary I am lol.

So I've been wearing it ever since and am working toward 10k everyday. My ped is a cheap crappy one, but I ordered a better one online and am waiting for it.

I am on the MediWeightloss Clinic diet (low carb) and I use my FItbit constantly now that I have a flex. I have lost 50.5 lbs and still have 105 to go. I have started aiming for 10000 steps in the past month and I hope this helps keep me motivated to do it!! No excuses!!!

Between Weight Watchers and sparking, I lost 25 lbs from March to the beginning of July. But, I cancelled my WW account (too expensive for what it was) and have fallen off the sparking wagon (and using my fitbit) the last few weeks. All of this has resulted in me gaining back 4 of the lbs I lost, and that is the wrong direction (I still have 80 lbs to lose). So today I get #backontrack and joined this group looking for some accountability! Thanks for having me!

The whole basis of my program is 5 miles a day (this time). I've been wearing a movband device. There are tons of new and pretty cool devices for those of us that have a problem with pedometers. my problem was I hated wearing it on my waist. I like one that you can wear as a watch. I got a great deal through our work wellness program but movable.com has them shipped for $29.99 and the reports are free. It's fun. (no interest in the organization, just like it a lot)
Now that I'm regularly getting in 5 miles a day... a goal that eluded me for 5 years after my knee surgery... it feels good to be in touch with it. I came to spark to pull it together. I need to get back on a good healthy eating plan as get my mileage up there. I have done ww like 3 times and all I lost was cash. Most folk that are heavy know a lot about nutrition, just following it through to the completion is the issue. I get rolling on some pounds dropping, then for some reason, I just stop and gain it all back. If I could just stay with it long enough without backsliding that would be fanstastic. hey I as long as I keep hitting the restart instead of the I give up button, I still have HOPE. My hope here is to connect to inspiration when I need it. and I need it! emoticon

Hello Everybody! My name is Ann and I am a FitBit addict! *hi ann* LOL

I enjoy walking outside in my subdivision everyday. I think that this team will be a great fit to keep me motivated to get my 10K steps in. Next week will be a challenge for me, I normally work from home and am able to walk around a lot more BUT I have vendors coming into town next week and have to be in the office. Getting up early to get my normal walk in is my daily goal to get thru the week.

Hi everyone, emoticon I'm joining this team because I know what good exercise walking is. Hi;
My name is Marianne and i am so glad to find this team.I love walking and recently purchased an Omron Pocket Pedometer.I have slowly increased the daily steps.And today was my very best so far with 9201 steps.I am allready itching to do it again tomorrow and want to push for that magic number of 10000 steps a day!

Hi, my name is Cheri and I am normally a runner but ever since finding out I was pregnant I haven't been able to run which unfortunately led to me gaining a bunch of weight . My husband and I just moved to Oklahoma where the weather is much nicer and I have just recently taken up walking to help control my weight. I am very happy to have found this group. I am hoping that I will get the encouragement I need to continue on this journey to a better me.

Hi. I'm Susan. I started trying to walk because I found I didn't have time to get to the gym. This gave me the ability to spend time with my kids and my friends (a few of us started taking evening walks together) while still getting excersize. I have a long way to go and see to be moving backward rather than forward in progress, but I haven't given up yet!

Hi, I've just joined Sparkpeople after years of surgery and I'll health which has left me unable to walk far. A month ago I couldn't manage 50 yards without stopping and starting. But I bought myself a pedometer, and began with only doing under 1000 steps a day. I can now walk 2000 a day, and walk 100 yards without stopping -still need my stick at the moment though. I have 150 pounds to lose and hope that exercise and getting to that 10000 a day will help. I look forward to the future
