Hi and welcome to the team. I've always wanted to visit New Zealand but have only landed there twice when visiting Australia.

As you can see, this is a great team with lots of support. I also find that when I eat carbs I tend to crave more so I really try to limit them.

Nice to have you on board.

Welcome to SP & the team. We need to eat carbs but have to be careful about which ones we choose. Getting rid of the processed ones will help you. Make sure to eat the healthful kind from whole grains, fruits & veggies. Our brains need carbs to function and 45 - 65% of our daily intake should be carbs believe it or not!

Wishing you success. Take it one day at a time and start with small changes. You can do it!

Welcome! you won't believe how well the Nutrition Tracker works for keeping track of what you eat. Most of us do eat to many carbs. I found out I don't get enough protein. This is a fun way to change your old habits and make new ones for the New You! emoticon

emoticon Welcome to the beginning of your healthy lifestyle. Diets don't work, but making small changes to your lifestyle does.
emoticon Most of us are here for the long haul, so feel free to get to know us. Questions ... wonderful, that's the only way we learn. Aha moments ... share them. We love them and they even open some doors for us to get further in our journey. Rants and pity parties ... we all have those days. I will warn you though … this is a pretty upbeat bunch of people you'll be talking to.
emoticon Check out a few Spark Pages. You'll soon find some like minded people to hook up with as friends. Join a few teams. I find that the challenge team I am on motivates me when I don’t feel like doing what I know I should. It's also small enough that I can get to know some people going for the same goal.
emoticon Don’t let all the information that is here scare you. Just try to make two or three small changes, and when you've got them mastered, and then move on. Before you know it, you'll be amazed at how long you been here and how far you have come!
emoticon Statistics say that those who interact with others do better with their weight loss. Don't be afraid to reach out. None of us is perfect and most of us have fallen … several times. We all know where you are coming from and how hard this is sometimes.
emoticon May you experience success in your journey!
I know what you mean about the carbs. I started creeping upwards again, and finally broke down and now am on a very low carb diet. When I go into the grocers, the carbs call my name. I have to get in and out quickly.

Welcome!

Yes, the simple carbs (sugar, white flour, white rice, etc. and the processed foods). Those were my downfall. And eating without paying attention to portion control.

You can do it but just give yourself time.

Hi folks,
I am a Kiwi and live in Northland, New Zealand.

I have 50kg excess to lose if I want to get really slim, but up to 30 would probably suit me better.I am older and the sagging and bagging may get me thrown out of town! I don't know how it is to be slim...have always been obese.

My goal is to see how much I can lose in the normal everyday pace of life by controlling the much loved carbs. I believe they are my downfall and the key to my gaining kg, and also the cause of finding it almost impossible to control or lose any weight and keep it off. The carbs make me crave and demand food. Does anyone out there have this problem too? Cheers
