Hi Bill and MC,

Thanks so much for the welcome and encouragement. Well, I did it... I got on the scale this morning finally. Oomph. 309. Yikes! But... it's a starting place. There are only three options from here: up, down, or stasis. Well, I think this is one of the rare cases where things will get infinitely better when you go down rather than up. ;)

So, onward and downward! Bill, I completely agree that a review of my eating habits are in desperate order. I know generally speaking what I need to change first but I haven't done any sort of complete inventory of my eating habits yet. That's my goal for this coming week.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. :)

Hey, Kate! Welcome to the team. Like Bill said, there are great folks here who will be encouraging and need to be encouraged...it's a great family!

You can do this, girl!! Get on that scale...do the first, hardest thing and then start making small choices to get you gong in the right direction.

Welcome,
MC

Welcome to the team! I remember the first time I went to get on the scale last year and I saw ERR. I was too heavy for my 350 lb max scale. Pretty depressing but my first goal became to see a number on that dang scale. Took a couple of weeks and then by then I was rolling.

Recommend you get back into tracking nutrition to start. It sure helps knowing what you are eating and it quickly becomes easy to say no to things that are way too many calories. There are a lot of great people on this team in all parts of the journey. Feel free to post in the daily chat thread.

Again, welcome to the team!

Hi all. I'm a 33 year old woman who has tried one too many times to lose weight. I've got...180? 170? 160? pounds to lose. I'm afraid to get back on the scale since I stopped weighing myself in January. I know I need to but I'm terrified, frankly.

I've been a member of spark before -- made some AMAZING friends -- and I'm back for the support and community it offers. This is my first time in this forum.

A little more about me... I'm a phd student and scientist, recently divorced, stressed, no kids, a great dog, a sweet cat, and an AWESOME boyfriend I don't feel I deserve who loves me just as I am. I'm hoping to become a great stepmom to his little girl one day. My weight loss goals are all about doing and living the lifestyle I want -- not how I look. I love the outdoors like hiking and camping, all sorts of crafts from jewelry making to sewing, and I'm a darn good cook. I also love nothing more than snuggling with a good book or movie. I've got mobility issues for a while (left leg), so I've got to stick with no impact activities like swimming or get really creative. I broke the leg a year ago and now I'm back in a boot while I await a third surgery. Yuck.

Please cheer me onto the scale this weekend, guys. I need to know, for better or worse, where I'm at. It doesn't matter how many times we fail as long as we keep getting up again.

Cheers,
Kate
