HI all.
I am a new member of this great team. I am so happy to find a Catholic team as I feel prayer is a strong part of my journey. I became disabled a little over a year ago and I am struggling with the weight I have put on. I have gained more 35 lbs over this last year. I have come to terms with my life and now it is time to do something about this weight. I look forward to your support! Thanks for being here!

Welcome to the Team! A blessed Easter to you and your family as well.

Wow. You chose your own religion at 8 years. How on earth did you pick?

All the best with your health issues. I pray that God will grant you understanding perseverence, and acceptance.

Hi there. :) I am relatively new to SP, and am so thrilled to have found a Catholic community to turn to! I am a cradle Catholic in the Seattle archdiocese, and am so excited about our Catholics Come Home campaign (check it out at CatholicComeHome.org). I joined SP to lose 20 before my new husband and I start a family. I look forward to meeting new people here!

Hello, all. I just learned a new term from reading some of the messages here. I guess I'm a revert. I left the church for about 20 years, and am so glad to be back.
I've been a SparkPerson for about 6 months, but only recently got active. It, too, is going to help me lead the life I want to lead.

Hi, I'm Anne. I've been with SP since 2/09. I joined this team because the profile picture is pretty, and because I want to connect spiritually with others on SP. The dumbest thing I have done this Lent since breaking up with my long suffering boyfriend, is not eating dark chocolate. I'll stick with it, but, that was dumb, dark chocolate is good for me. What was I thinking on Ash Wednesday? Check out my SparkPage, thanks for letting me join CC.

Hi! I am Cheryl, a 43 yr old Catholic from NE Ohio. Life has been a struggle as of late and I am thankful for my Faith more than ever. In 2004, my 49 yr old BIL died suddenly of a massive heart attack. In 2006, my house flooded, and my dear, dear SIL committed suicide. In 2008, I lost my job, and my sister was diagnosed with bile duct cancer. In 2009, I lost my dear sister. I am finally back to work, and trying to dig out of this financial mess. It is hard for me, because as much as I believe the Lord will get me through, my husband does not. I pray each and everyday, that my husband's heart will be opened. Look forward to being a part of this community.

Hi ,I am Carol and joined SparkPeople Jan.21,2010. I have a Sparkfriend who is also a member of this team and I am so glad I now know about it. I was raised Catholic and my daughter who is also a Sparks member is also Catholic. It's nice to know we have another good group to chat with for support in reaching our goals. I need to tell my Daughter about this team as she will want to join right away. We live in Calif. just 3 minutes from each other's houses and we are both really glad to be Spark members. We new we had to get started right away as the weight problem was getting out of control for both of us. There are so many wonderful people we have been chatting with and we are both feeling so motivated to reach our goals this time. We learned a long time ago this cannot be done on our own as we find we need support from others who know what it's like to back slide. So we are here to stay and just knowing there are so many out there that are in this with us , we know we can do it. Everyone have a good week. Carol in Sunny Calif.

Hi,

I would like to introduce myself to the rest of the team. My name is Lynn and I happened to find this team by responding to a blog from a new Spark member. When reading the e-mail she sent. I noticed she belonged to this team. I excited to join a team with others of the same faith, especially during the Lenten Season.I'm looking forward to actively participating with this group.

Hello, Just a little about me. .. My name is Kathy....I am going on 58 and I was so unfit at last year end...I finally decided to make time for a better me....as I have allowed myself to decline physically because of the stress of trying to help my husband fight his battle with severe anxiety and depression (for past 3 years)....I have been very unhappy with myself for falling into the trap of trying to eat away my stress. Today, He is managing a little better....now I have to manage my own health.
I joined a Community Ed. weight loss challenge program and have started eating right and exercising for 60 minutes every morning.
So far I have lost 13 pounds (4 weeks).....my goal is 50 or 60 pound loss by Summer....(happy to make 30).
Since my husband is the complete opposite of a cheerleader...(really!!!) I hope to find here others who might help and also inspire me to keep on keepin' on!
BC Survivor...7 years....Retired, and Church & Community Volunteer.
Love to fish, travel and smile.
Thanks so much for the welcome and needed support!
Hope to add you to my buddy list!
God Bless, Kathy

Hi All,

Just stumbled into this by accident (one of God's planned ones I'm sure) I'm a retired Catholic school teacher and am missing being surrounded by my faith. A new life, and new surroundings have kept me busy and just realized how little time I spend with God(not that He isn't always there just that I'm not mindful enough.) Well this should keep me more centered. Thanks for being here.

emoticon Thanks for the warm welcome, good way to start my day, that is, after I have taken time for God first and foremost. Looking forward to being an active Catholic again. Last couple of months since starting to feel a little better have had an ernest desire and heart-felt longing to get back into active Catholicism. As stated prior, my inner body just kept God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit close to me during the bad times and I am honored to acknowledge and enjoy his presence as I start recovering and feeling better. emoticon Praise The Lord!!!

Hi, I'm new to this team. Am 58 years old and have been disabled for 3-1/2+ years due to heart and lung problems, not to mention diabetic complications. Have had 2 open heart surgeries, last of which they did not give me much of a chance; have congestive heart failure and major breathing problems. Also have diabetes mellitus, type 2, with severe diabetic neuropathy of both legs and hands. Having been a business woman working in medicine all my life, am finding it very hard to be disabled and dealing with a total life change. Was a practicing Catholic up until about six years ago and IN DEALING WITH ALL THIS AND NOT WANTING TO LIVE, MY INNER SELF TURNED TO MY LAST SOURCE OF STRENGTH AND HELP, GOD, WHO IS STILL WITH ME FOR THE GROWING AND IMPROVEMENT TIMES, NOT TO MENTION THE SPIRITUAL GROWTH I HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO ACHIEVE. I WOULD NOT GIVE UP MY SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND PRAYER TIME WITH GOD FOR ANYTHING....IT IS TRULY AWESOME.
Joined Spark about 1 months ago and I have noticed lots of improvement in food thoughts, fitness level and mental improvement. Am still working at starting to encompass spiritual growth with the Spark program. emoticon I need help and support for continued progress with lifestyle changes for the long haul!!! I TRULY WANT TO CONTINUE ON MY SPIRITUAL PATH AND GET BACK TO BEING A TRUE PRACTICING CATHOLIC, disabilities and all!!! Barb. emoticon

Kiena (and I pronounced it correctly in my head, lol!) - welcome to the Team! That's wonderful news about your marriage validation.

Hello- I'm new to this team but not to SparkPeople. With Lent starting tomorrow I just thought to look up "Catholic" in the Teams listing and here I am.

I'm married w/ 3 kids. My DH is going through RCIA and we were just able to validate our marriage (after 15 yrs) this past Saturday!

I'm looking forward to 'meeting' everyone on the team!
