Hi There, Introducing myself to the group!

I'm here to lose about 15lbs, and then take it from there. Gotta start small ;)

Anyway, LOVE books. I just finished reading a Michael Connelly book called Void Moon which was pretty good. I'm into reading lots of different types of books though, poetry and also non fiction and newspapers too!

Nice to be here... get my mind off food.

Cheers

Hello there! Avid book reader here - already a part of two in person book clubs and one online bc as well. I couldn't resist when I saw a spark group book club as well. I do most of my reading in the summer since I'm back in college again :) Two of my children are even more voracious readers than I am! (To which I'm thankful!) Anyway, I hope to participate in a few of the discussions at least during the summer if nothing else.

Hi Sarah, I used to be with WW and now very happy with SP. Glad I joined, because the support is every day instead of the weekly meeting at WW. I am an avid reader, but probably not in your class of reading. I live on the West Coast, Sacramento Ca and happy to be here. Have all the seasons except the dreaded snow and freezing. Love your cats names. I have just one Maine Coon cat, Franklin. He is 16 yo and if I have him another two years I will be happy. I have had 7 at one time, you know the kids, left their cats with me and swore they would come back for them, but you know that never happened and they all became my family. I lost 4 in the last two years, unfortunately I got them all as kittens around the same age, so I knew when it came time for them to go over the rainbow bridge, they would all go around the same time. Franklin is my last one and I don't think I could go through the grieving process any more times, so he will be my last. I am having a difficult time with weight loss right now and have to get my head around losing weight. I have only been retired for a year and getting into a routine is the hardest thing for me to do but I will do it and get back to the weight loss. Take care and have a great weekend. Bev

My name is Sarah, I'm 36 years old, and I live in Michigan. I've been losing weight for about a year. I was on another site during that time, but I like SparkPeople much better!

I have insulin resistance and PCOS, which pose challenges while losing weight and make for slooooow weight loss, but I'm pleased with my progress so far, and I feel 500% better than I did a year ago. I can't imagine going back to my old, lazy, unhealthy lifestyle. I love eating good food and working out! I'm at the point where I'm pretty much addicted to exercise. :)

I'm an English major at WMU. Obviously, I love to read. I'm finishing up my senior year, and I plan to apply to graduate schools to pursue my MLIS (Masters of Library Science) once I finish.

My boyfriend and I have been together for three years, and we're planning to move to the San Francisco Bay area next summer. We have two cats, Sherlock and Winter. They're spoiled rotten.

Hi, I just found this team and I am really excited. I am an avid book reader, carry a book with me at all times. Reading three books now at the same time. Have one by my outside porch swing, one by my bed and one in my purse. I guess it is four because I have one in my car that I take when I go to Starbucks, which is a hardcover in a beautiful Vera Bradley case. I also belong to a book club that I joined when I worked and have been with it for over 10 years. Have read some books that I would never have read that I loved or hated. Right now I just finished The Paris Wife, which was a real joy to read. She was Ernest Hemingway's first wife. Awesome read. I have two book shelves loaded with books I read and have to read. Love Janet Evanovich, Debbie Macomber and Sandra Brown to name a few.

Hi there, I love to read and formed a local book club years ago. Enjoyed that very much, but it outlived itself. Last fall I joined our library book club, and I LOVE it! The discussions are always lively and I leave feeling rejuvenated for a whole week. I may not read every book for this club, but I am curious to see how it plays out.

emoticon Whitneyteacher! We are glad you've joined our team! I listen to audio books while I walk, too~it does keep me going just a little longer at times. I also listen to them while I'm cleaning the house (except when vacuuming~lol!) We started discussing a new book for this month, so check out the thread and join us if you'd like to. Every month we ask for suggestions, then we all vote and highest becomes our monthly read. We have some just for fun games to earn some extra spark points. Jump in wherever you are comfortable. Hi Everyone,

Like many of us here, weight loss for me has been a challenge. I don't give up easily and am usually a pretty positive person. Like everyone on this team I love to read, my favorite form of exercise is walking while listening to one of my many audio books. I only allow myself to listen when I'm exercising so it encourages me to do more so I can hear more of the story. I also always have at least one regular book I'm reading. Most of my books come from our local used book store so I don't use Kindle or Nook, I do have Kindle for PC on my computer though. I'm limiting the number of Spark Teams I belong to because I check in regularly with all of them so this morning I un-joined another less active team so I could join all of you. There is a lot more about me on my Spark Page and I post blogs frequently so feel free to drop by and take a look.

Don't know how I missed these intros, but I just saw them and had to respond. We are so glad you've joined our team and hope to get to know each of you better. We just started our book for May and there is a challenge going on, too. Hope you will decide to jump in.

ADEAN5~I love YA novels, too! I used to use my kids as an excuse to read them, but now I just have to admit that I enjoy them for myself :)

SKINNYROBIN100~Glad you found us to take the place of your book group at home for the summer. Be sure to post suggestions for June once the thread starts and then we vote on all the suggestions.

TRESA7~You have definitely come to the right team with your love of books! There are a lot of avid readers here and you will get lots of suggestions for more books to add to your To Be Read pile :)

Hello, I just found your team and I just had to join. I am a book junkie (if that's possible).

I love books so much that I have two full bookshelves, a Nook (e-book reader) and I still check books out of the library.

Finding readers like myself is awesome.

Hello, all. I recently joined SP and just started joining teams. Reading has been a mainstay my entire life. I'm not loyal to any one genre. Neither is my boyfriend, who also reads a lot. We live in the basement efficiency in a townhouse. We have a wall of bookshelves separating the living area from the bedroom. We both have Nooks, but prefer our books. I'm looking forward to being a part of this team and meeting the other team members.

There are a lot of avid readers here with a variety of tastes, so hopefully you will find some ideas for some great reads. Be sure to let us know about the books you are reading, too. We have a March challenge going on and you can jump in now if you want or wait until our April challenge. This month's book hasn't generated too much discussion, but we are taking suggestions for next month's read. We will take a vote and the winner will be the book we discuss. Join some of the Just For Fun games and wherever else you are comfortable! Glad you are here! Good luck on your spark journey!

Hello all. I'm Caitlin. I was pretty active on spark people in 2011 and then I had a rough 2012 so now I'm working on making my comeback here in 2013. Books are a huge part of my life so I thought why not join a board that combines weightless and books together :)

Hello! I'm Cheryl, my husband claims I am addicted to reading. I disagree. ;) I've always been a reader. I write (nothing publishable) too, but reading is easier. I am also on the website Goodreads, which was the greatest find in the world for me as a reader - I could keep track of the titles I read, the ratings, etc. Love it.

emoticon Penny! So glad you've joined our team! You will find there are a lot of avid readers here with a wide variety of tastes. You can find ideas for good books under the "What are you reading" thread. I never thought I would give up "real" books, but I LOVE my kindle! I still go to the library and of course I have books I will never part with, but it's so nice to have several books all in one location since I usually have 2-3 going at the same time. Jump in some of our threads and let us get to know you better! Good luck to you on your spark journey!

Hi, I'm Penny and I am a reading junkie!! I must confess that I haven't succumbed to the electronic version of books yet...i have no Kindle or Nook. I love my books...my good, old fashioned books. (that's not to say I wouldn't take a Kindle if I could get one) I spend a lot of time at my library and discount book store. If I am being completely honest, I also buy books from Harlequin. Don't judge!! I like those silly, romance stories sometimes. I used to read a lot of Stephen King but got tired of sleeping with the bathroom light on. Anyway, I am ready to get healthy and since I will be reading anyway, I think it will be fun to combine what i already love with something that I want to learn to love (exercise and eating right) Glad to be here!

Hi, everyone! My name is Cody, and I live in Alabama. I LOVE to read, and I read all kinds of things all the time. It just depends on my mood. I love the idea of a book club on SP! I've been a member of SP on and off for a couple of years, but this time I'm doing it under a new username and with so much more resolve. I look forward to reading and discussing great books with this group!

Hi everyone! I'm Sam, I live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I joined Spark People just a few says back, not only for the awesome tools and info but also to get in touch with people going through the same process.
I love reading, anything I find really, so I decided to join the club as a way of taking some of the focus out of food and sharing other things I love with other people. Plus it helps me to improve my english.
Can't wait to be an active member of this book club! Wish you all the best!

emoticon Amberzade67 and CC2013! We are glad to have you join us here on A Book Club! Please look around our team page and jump in wherever you are comfortable. We will be starting a new book to discuss in February and should be starting our voting process soon. We would love to have you be a part of that. We will also be starting a new challenge for February. Our challenges are a great way to stay motivated and connected to other people on our team. They are not high-pressure, but do keep you accountable. Looking forward to getting to know you both better!
Happy reading and sparking!

Hi,

I have been on sparkpeople before but started all over in Oct of last year and have had more success this time.

I work at home doing tech support. I work a lot of overtime because I just moved into my Brother's house and there are things I want to buy and money I need tosave. I go to school full time. My son just went away to school.

I absolutely love books but because I don't have much time I don't get to read as much as I would like. I actually carry a book or two around with me at all times but sometimes go for days without having a chance to read. I take one to bed with me at night, I take my medication, and then all my intentions to read go out the window.

It's a sad sad story. LOL

I also belong to 2 bookclubs that I go to when I am not working overtime. I often have not read the book. But, since I've been going for years, I continue to go.

Tomorrow I will buy a stack of books that is on hold for me at my favorite bookstore.

Now that my son is gone, perhaps I will find time to read after all. So, I decided to join this team.

As far as exercise I use my wii. I do zumba and ea active sports. I just started going to a live zumba class when overtime permits.

I do weight watchers, sparkpeople, and use my bodymedia.

I have lost 46 pounds. I can't wait to get to 50 so I can get another award at weight watchers. I get real excited about those awards. LOL

emoticon Gwyn! We are so glad you've joined our team! You are joining a lot of other avid readers here and I'm sure nobody will think you're odd for wanting to buy books! You can get some good ideas for books under the "What are you reading" thread. And there is also an older thread called "Book Reviews" where you can share your opinion on books. We also have some just-for-fun games to earn some spark points and get involved here. We look forward to getting to know you better. Good luck on your spark journey!

emoticon Brandi! You are definitely an avid reader! I love reading, but don't read nearly that fast! I'm not much of a non-fiction fan, either. I'm glad you are going to join in the monthly read The Paris Wife if you can get your book in time. I've had to bow out this month just to catch up on some other books I have going. You will also find some good suggestions by checking out the "What are you reading" thread. We have quite a variety of tastes here!

Sparkpeople is a great place for information, encouragement and support for your weight loss journey. Those skinny jeans are a great motivator! We are looking forward to getting to know you better, too!

Hi, my name is Brandi. I live in Maine. I work full time and am the mother of two. I read alot. I average about 3 books a week. I will read most anything with the exception of non fiction, but love series the most because I feel like I can actually get to know the characters better. If I am not reading a book I am most likely listening to one in the car during my commute.

I am looking to lose about 60 lbs and get back into my skinny jeans. I am looking forward to reading something and actually being able to talk about it. I have put a hold on the Paris Wife through the library. They have six copies and I am next on the list, so I hope my wait isn't too long.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone,
Brandi

Hey my name is Jennifer and I am new to the team. I am trying to lose weight and maintain a healthier lifestyle. I love to read, but it feels like I struggle finding material I can get lost in. I have gotten in the habit of picking a section of the library, picking a shelf and finding one book on that shelf to read, and while that has led me to some interesting novels, it has also left an uninspiring line of books in my wake. I hope joining this team I can find some great reads and follow along with you all on the books of the month.
