Drink 3 cups upon arising in the morning and you're well on your way to getting the hydration that you need. Then drink 2 more cups around lunchtime. Drink 2 more through the afternoon from your water bottle. One more cup finishes off the effort, but I'm tall and need extra water to be comfortable, so at that point, I just enjoy it right up until bedtime...and I don't need to get up during the night to take care of business. My body must really need the water!

All things are possible.

I find between the water bottles and carbonated water that I am drinking more than 8 glasses a day. I only count plain water in the water count but I also drink unsweetened flavored water.

I'm thirsty in the morning when I first get up so I drink 2 cups of water first thing. When I have breakfast, I drink another cup to get the meds and vitamins down. I remember to drink 2 cups of water when I come back from my exercise class...that makes 5. I drink 2 more cups before dinner and 1 cup with my vites and meds before bedtime.

I enjoy herbal tea and this adds extra fluid to the count. So, scheduling the hydration has been the key for me.

All things are possible.

I am struggling with drinking enough water. I take my refillable 24 oz cup with me to work every day, but it never needs refilled, and I always bring it home with some water left. I have tried lemon in the water, but I don't like it. I just need to remember to drink!

I live in Colorado, and with the semi-arid climate and high altitude, many people carry a water bottle with them. If you go for a walk, on a hike, for a bike ride ... water bottle (refillable preferably).

In the office, a good percentage of folks, including me, take water, not coffee, to meetings, work sessions and demos, and in their cubicles. We have an ice machine with water, where I fill my 32 oz bottle several times a day with ice and water (on the long way to the rest room to get rid of my last batch of water, lol). If you make a conscious effort and think about it, and drink when you think, pretty soon it becomes a habit.

That said, I must admit that when I work from home I do not drink as much as when in the office. Not as convenient and enticing I guess. :) I also do not get as many steps at home, since my house is much smaller than the office.

I find if you make drinking water a routine during certain parts of the day (just like brushing your teeth), it's not that hard to get enough water. Reminders can be helpful, if you're just busy and just never think about it. I love the "Plant Nanny" app. It sends you reminders to drink water and you get to grow a little virtual plant.

First of all, I got rid of everything but water. That ended up with me loving the taste of water. Tip 2 is to freeze the water. I buy 10 oz. bottles, and after they are frozen, I drop them to the fridge ( 2-3 at a time ). So by the time I go to use them, they are half thawed, and I have freezing cold water. I rotate them, so I always have cold water, and drink 8-12 a day.

I like using a 16 oz glass with handle like a mug and a large straw and drink early morning, lunch, 2 more in the afternoon.

Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4.

Using a larger cup or bottle for my water helps me get more than my goal of water. When I use a regular size cup, I barely get my water intake for the day

I'm finding that the older I get, the slower my body and brain is to signal "thirst". I tend to forget to drink water and then become chronically dehydrated, yet I still never get thirsty. So weird.

The following system is working for me: I score my cups of water in my "Diet Minder" food journal and start each day with three full 8 ounce cups of water. So that's 3 checkmarks, only 5 to go. I have breakfast and another cup of water to wash down my supplements and meds. That's four. Four o'clock in the afternoon is my stopping point. I drop whatever I'm doing and have 2 more cups of water. Good. Only 2 to go. I have a cup of water with my dinner. I do another cup near bedtime, with the nighttime meds. So, I got my full 8-8-ounce cups of water for the day. Added to that is a whopping 16-ounce cup of Sleepytime Tea at bedtime. You'd think I'd be up all night peeing, but this is not the case. I sleep through the night and never wet the bed. Getting up in the morning is a bit of a rush, though...to be expected. How's that for 67 years of age?

All things are possible.

I make a 40 oz hydroflask of iced green tea (unsweetened) every morning and drink from it all day. I don't bother aiming for 64 oz of water. If I'm thirsty, I drink my tea or water. Simple.

NYTImes article by a professor of pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. :

"If there is one health myth that will not die, it is this: You should drink eight glasses of water a day.

It’s just not true. There is no science behind it.

Many people believe that the source of this myth was a 1945 Food and Nutrition Board recommendation that said people need about 2.5 liters of water a day. But they ignored the sentence that followed closely behind. It read, “Most of this quantity is contained in prepared foods.

Water is present in fruits and vegetables. It’s in juice, it’s in beer, it’s even in tea and coffee. Before anyone writes me to tell me that coffee is going to dehydrate you, research shows that’s not true either."

I like Classico spaghetti sauce (no added sugar), and discovered the jars have volume markings on the side - 4 oz, 8 oz, etc.

Each jar holds 24oz, or 3 cups. I keep one in the bathroom, and fill it up as soon as I get up. I then drink the whole thing before I leave the bathroom to go downstairs to start my day.

I keep another jar near the kitchen sink, and before I start cooking dinner, I fill it up, and aim to drink the whole thing before dinner is ready.

Just those two jars gets me 6 cups of water in a day, and then I keep a 24oz cup at work that I fill up when I get there, and at lunch.

Add to that my 24oz water bottle I take with me to the gym, and I'm getting 12-15 cups of water per day, depending on whether I fill up my work cup once or twice, and that's not including the water I drink with dinner (I eat breakfast and lunch at work, generally, drinking from my work water cup).

I also typically have 16oz of decaf coffee per day.

So that's how I get more than 8 cups of water in a day - link drinking water to regular activities (getting ready, making dinner), and keep water bottles (or jars!) in handy locations.

Take life one day at a time - enjoy today before you worry about tomorrow.

Every morning I set out four 16oz bottles of water, and I sip on them all day. I always take one with me if I go out in the car. I used to drink only diet soda, rarely water, but when I gave up the diet soda completely (I only drink one occasionally now) I found I enjoyed water more. Most days I drink 5 or 6 bottles.

Usually first thing in the morning I drink a couple glasses of water. When I work-out I have another couple glasses and at night I try to get more. Like right now I need to get up and drink some more. I also find that chia seeds in my water with lemon is good as well as pineapple water.

I have a 12 oz glass I use. It doesn’t look to big. Also then I don’t have to fill 8 times, so it seems easier but turns out to be the same. Sometimes I even drink more now that I’m getting use to water.

Here's the ultimate tip: DRINK WHEN YOU'RE THIRSTY, PERIOD. The whole idea that you need to drink X amount to meet some arbitrary quota is bull and not supported by science. People have gotten by for millenia without carrying around water 24/7 and no other animal bothers to track how much they drink. This is just a new fad in the last 20 years or so and it has gotten ridiculous with the misinformation.

I definitely have to push myself to drink! I have tall glasses (16-oz) that I fill & drink twice a day. A couple of 10-oz decafs & an instant Miso broth. When I go out I usually bring along a 16-oz Perrier with grapefruit essence & sip as I go; the bubbles & taste are fun :) Sometimes, if I really need a little more help, I top the big glass of water off with an oz of grape juice (I track the grape juice).

At work I have a big Yeti cup (32 oz) and I fill it up at least three times a day. Those plus 8 oz in the morning with my thyroid meds, and another 16 oz glass with dinner put me well over the suggested 8-8oz glasses, and much closer to the idea that you need an 0.5 oz of water per pound of body weight.

I only like water if it is really cold, and the Yeti cup keeps ice frozen all day. I also like a little food grade essential oil in fizzy water to change things up a little.

Hi, I would like to share that before pregnancy; I used to drink so less water and ended up being more and more dehydrated. My skin started becoming more dull and dry after pregnancy. I noticed the increase in dark circles. One of my friends suggested me to drink two cups of mildly warm water after waking up to detoxify the body. I gradually started drinking water throughout the day and now I always have a water bottle with me where ever I go. Pregnancy demands a lot and what you get as a return is truly what a woman desires for.

I was finding it hard to drink 8 glasses of water a day, until I found a large glass that holds 2 cups of water. Now I fill this glass with water and drink it with each meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks). It seems easy now to drink more water. On some days I even drink more than 8 glasses of water!
