I joined SparkPeople in 2010 and lost 50 pounds by 2013. Since then, I got married, had a baby, moved, changed jobs and now weigh more than I did in 2010. Glad to have this program back in my life because I know it works.

We have a new group "Begin Againers" ;) I've done it a number of times over the last several years but something always deterred me from sticking to it. Just got diagnosed with diabetes last month, along with high cholesterol, and elevated blood pressure - so if that's not motivation, I don't know what is. Was hard to get on track with eating healthier, but I do find I'm getting better at it, and keeping myself accountable by using the SparkPeople app and tracking what I'm eating/drinking is really helping. Now I just need to start exercising more and getting myself into a regular habit. Good luck everyone - let's do it this time!!
I too am starting over for the umpteenth time. I am 62 and at my highest ever. I am determined to do it this time. I have joined Spark premium and am going to go to an eating therapist starting next week. Hang in there. We are going to make it this time.

Hello Everyone!! I am having a hard time getting back on track ugh! I lost 30 pounds this last year but fell off the wagon and gained about 10. I'm so disappointed and having a hard time staying on track.
Yes...you really can do this! I'm 67 and doing what I'm doing finally and for good. I'm finding relief from the on-again, off-again wagon by refusing to think of this as a wagon at all. That way, there's no falling off of anything. Instead there's just a steady, one-day-at-a-time/one-pound-at-a-time, finding of ways to make my diet healthier and move more. And I journal, (track) everything (food, weight once-per-week, exercise, etc. daily). I find I have to do the journaling to make myself accountable.
I'm doing this for me. I'm worth it. You're worth it, too. Keep up the good work!
I've decided to restart, but this time I'm taking it seriously. I suffered injuries to my arm and foot in December and it was an eye opener how much my excess weight hindered my independence and recovery. This time I will use the support that Sparkers offer
Found a wonderful resource on SP. Coach Dean Anderson is a psychologist and has written many articles here on SP. Put his name in the search box to find the articles. He gives answeres to why motivation goes away, what’s really going on and what to do about it. I’m reading 1 article a day and it’s like private counciling.
After reading some of his articles, I set some new goals. I focused on 4 things. 1. I decided to eat a low carb, high protein diet between 1200-1500 cal. per day.
2. I decided to track eating, exercise and my moods each day. I use the make a note on bottom of the nutrition tracker. This helps me learn from issues.
3. I decided to exercise 10 min./day to move more.
4. I decided to review my week on Wednesday to prove to myself that I can do this.
So far going strong after 3 weeks.

At 65 years of age, I am beginning life again. I have started on this Spark Journey many times in the past ten years and I keep allowing me to be DeRailed. Not Good. NOPE not good at all. I must Stick with it like I did quitting Alcohol and Tobacco. Alcohol free for 31 years. Tobacco Free for 10 years and 10 months. I can eat Healthy. I can exercise. I will improve my health more! Period. Not taking no for an answer, I know down deep it is do-able!
