I will turn sixty this month. The only issue I have is forgetting sometimes and not being careful over doing things. Used a leaf blower a couple of weeks ago and my shoulders hurt. I will remember to be careful the next time.

I don't mind BEING my age (56) but i do mind LOOKING it. In terms of fitness and weight, I am very close to where I was 20 years ago when I was at my best, but I'm nowhere near as toned, and my face looks like it needs ironing. Wish there were some way to turn back the clock.

The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

I'll be 70 soon and am working out with so many who are much younger. I do what I can and strive to do my best - but I don't think about my age while I'm doing it! One of the coaches once told me 'It's not what you can do in here, it's how what you do in here helps you live your life out there!'

Checked with my doctor and she told me what is safe for me to do with my heart condition and other. So I follow it. Since April 14, (2 1/2 months) I have lost 15 pounds. I'll keep going forward because the reason I do it is to be healthy, enjoy my great-grand-son who is now 2 and have many more years with my daughter, grad-children and my sweetheart of a husband! We are both over 70 and will live every day as it's our last - give it our all built on many happy memories!

I am feeling different kinds of pains especially in my hip which I found out after an xray I have a touch of arthritis. I just move differently but I won't give up I keep pressing I need to add more exercises to my day but at 50 I'm feeling good.

If hunger is not the problem, then eating is not the solution.

Another good reducing exercise consists in placing both hands against the table edge and pushing back.

I'm 63... I've always been quite active until recently when my knee started to give me some pain. I think losing this extra weight might help me. I agree... life is different and I must adjust. Have to get used to what I can do TODAY, not 20 years ago.

I'm 67 years young and looking forward to being an ex-mess. Time seems to have gotten away from me. My cards read a life expectancy of about 75 years, given present shape and condition, should I choose to just sit back and watch. Nope...it's time to do something, probably way past time even. There's no time like the present to jump out of the way when you see a train approaching...gotta get off that track!

At age 50 I went into a deep dark depression for 3 years. I finally reralized that there was only one alternative to aging so I picked myself up and decided to be grateful for every day I wake up.
At age 63 I became a runner and did my first race. It was a half marathon. I did great and although I power ran/power walked it, my time was 2 hours and 36 mins for 13.1 miles (21.1K)
I continue to power walk, do strength training and every year on my birthday I stand on my head to show that I can still do it. This year I will be 67 years young.
Age is just a number. I plan on being around until I am at least 103.

I'm a 66 yr old male. Would really like to get rid of about 15+ pounds. I weigh 192 and just feel the mid-170s would be good. Dr. said don't worry about any weight loss - -but....I want to do this for me. End of week 1 - -I lost .2 pounds..... Is 15 pounds going to take forever?

Hi! I am 70. I survived breast cancer and a heart attack. Since I joined SP a little over 2 years ago, I have lost 85 pounds, walk 4 - 5 miles a day, and have been able to ditch all my medications except for a multi-vitamin and a baby aspirin. My hair is gray and I'm proud of it. I plan on being around for a long time. I say, you can do it no matter what your age. All you need to do is start and.....keep going.

I don't really find it applies when I am working out. Sometimes after when the soreness sets in then I feel about 50 years older than I am.

I'm 72 and have no pain, and I take no medicine. I do Paleo with NO GRAINS, very little sugar, no dairy. Lots and lots of veggies. Eggs and nuts and seeds often. Almond milk. Use food as medicine and come off the prescription drugs as soon as possible if you want a happy life.

Sometimes I feel double my age.

I am a born again Christian and I love the Lord with all my heart. He has changed my life so I now live with more peace and contentment. I no longer desire to have what some of my friends have , but know God knows my needs and I am so grateful that He has given me my needs and not my wants. I enjoy writing my daily blog Bible Verse for each day. I enjoy spending time with God every day.
I enjoy Spark People and the ones I have become friends with. Thy have become an encouragement as I go al

I agree with you. Many of my friends, at the age of 65, run marathons, ride bikes long distances and on all terrain, and do various other other activities. These friends look and feel young. Others, the same age, sit around and are afraid to do anything. The age number has taken control of their mind and body. I'm with you and will go as long as I have a breath in my body. Keep on keeping on!

I believe all that about age is what you feel, but I know age is how people see you. I hated it the first time s service person called me, "Dear". I warned my sister when she was thinking of not coloring her hair, "When people see grey hair, they stop seeing a real person."

On my way to my new normal.

Age is just a number. Some days the aches and pains really intensify that number.

I think part of it is listening to your body. I have some major health problems, and i know what i can do and what i cant exercise wise..but i always try to push it a bit and see if i can squeeze out a little more. some days yes..some no. listen..feel..and be positive!!
