You raise your feet higher when you walk and land with your knee locked in most instances.

It is called WORK-ing out for a reason.

I said getting fit was simple, I did not say it was easy.

Cardio burns calories, strength work burns fat.

Eat well to lose weight, exercise to get fit

I would recommend bike riding, weight training and yoga.

I can’t jump rope anymore because it hurts my bad knee. It seems pretty high impact to me.

Strengh training would be a first choice which is something you can do at home using resistance bands. Biking and jumping rope are both low impact cardio workouts. Contrary to the current myth jumping rope is low not high impact, you only need to come far enough above the floor to pass the jump rope under your feet which is at most 1 inch.

Hi Hannah

The good news is that when it comes to weight loss, the majority of your progress comes from diet, not exercise. So even if you can't be as active as you'd like, you can still lose weight by making good choices when it comes to what you're eating.

Biking is another low-impact activity you might consider. Are you doing any strength training? That might be another option.

Hope that helps,

Hi! I'm looking for some ideas for low impact but high intensity work-outs. Doc wants me to avoid the classes I love until I lose more weight :( The pool will be closing soon, so the water work outs I've been doing will be out soon. I love walking, but it's not really intense enough to help lose weight as fast as the HIIT and Zumba work outs were helping.
