I've been watching a youtube guy who really promotes resistance bands as an excellent tool. I've picked up a few new things to add to my regimen from him. As you say, cheap, portable and truly challenging.

Libraries - they pftem have workout videos/dvds and other items. you dont keep them long but if you have a something for a short time you may be mroe motivated to use it a lot during that time. it is a fun way of finding a variety of items.

savers, salvation army and goodwill are also food for old fitness items. i ve gotten a few new items that way.

for physical items resistance bands. they can be used to aid stretching, add intensity to some cardio exercises and can be used fir strength as well. they are also easy to pack if traveling

YouTube: FitByAmy, or any workout you wanna do.. I was searching for 20-30 min work outs and it will give you soo many cool things to choose from.. Be specific in your youtube search: No weights workout, body weight work outs etc... Good Luck~

I have purchased some cheap Leslie Sansone in home walking videos over the years from Amazon, Ebay, and other sites, like less than $10 a dvd. They are very challenging and she even does some with weight exercises for over all work outs.

N.Rey is the person that has a website called darebee.com. it's a free site, but you can contribute to it's upkeep. She also has some phone apps for Android that are free and some that you can pay for.
These are all wonderful resources and no end to possibilities

I crank up some electronic industrial, soca or club dancing music and just DANCE. I flap my arms, stretch my legs, bounce up and down and shake it all for 30 minutes. Done. And I love, love, love it.
Best of all its free. Just turn on your radio or TV music channels.

Life is too short to spend it hating your body.

My provider is the ever greedy Comcast and all the great workout videos they once had are all now PPV. It does give me direct access to youtube using the voice remote which is just about as good. We also have Netflix and Amazon Video (or whatever they're calling it now) and I think there are some there as well?

Another place to look for workouts is On-Demand from your cable provider. They have free workout vids. Sometimes you have to really look to get to them, but they should be there.

I like to point out to folks that a workout can be cheap or free to take away the "couldn't make it to the gym" excuse or the "I wish I had a treadmill" or other space-hogging and expensive equipment excuse. If you belong to a gym or have your own, that's great, but don't let being away from either one prevent a workout. That's another old saying that got old because it's absolutely true. "You're only cheating yourself".

I found a Kindle book for $6 on Amazon that I put on my Fire for the workout room. I've done a few of the workouts and it looks like a lot of workout variety for only a few bucks. Combine something like this with the SparkPeople Exercise Finder and I can't see how you could possibly not find something to provide a good workout and variety for a long time to come. The book is called "100 No-Equipment Workouts, Volume 1" by N. Rey and gets good reviews.

The other item is actually something I haven't tried, but I thought looked good for those many folks I see here asking about compact home resistance equipment that takes little space. It's called the "BodyBoss Portable Gym 2.0" and is available from NewEgg for $150 (and you get a $15 NewEgg promo card with it for the next week or so). That's about $40 cheaper than elsewhere and it gets a bunch of good reviews on Amazon.
