1- Yes, most of the time. 2- Moisture wicking. (I have some cotton leggings that will do on laundry day) 3- some hiking/backpacking works better with shorts with built-in liners rather than undies. 4) mainly that they fit. For materials, if there’s no cold issue, cotton. Otherwise, poly and merino wool.
I think that undies serve different purposes based on gender. People with penises need some support, people with vaginas might need, shall we say, other containment?
