I’m editor. That's why my work is far from everyday activity. I put my fitness off all the time. But one day I've realized that time is come! And it was my motivation - get rid of laziness. I accidentally found this board. But seems I will find a lot of helpful information here.
My advice is to not wait for motivation - because that comes and goes. You need to build a routine that works for you and becomes a habit. Make a reasonable plan and then follow it. Take it one day at a time - try your best but dont just give up if you aren’t perfect. Just keep going. You can do this! 😎👍🏻

A couple years ago I actually came up with a moto for myself - it was: "EMBRACE THE SUCK."
I knew it was going to suck to have to say no to that tray of cookies at work. It was going to suck to get out of bed at 5 a.m. to get to the gym. It was going to suck to spend 10 minutes on the treadmill and still go do some weight machines.
Yup, it was going to suck, and that was just too bad. If changing things was important, then I would just have to embrace the suck and do it anyways.
You know what? It DID suck LOL. It wasn't fun - at least not at first. Once I finally got my fitness past the initial shock of getting back to the gym it started to become easier, and something I actually enjoyed, but that took MONTHS.
I'm going through a bit of relapse of needing to embrace the suck again - almost a year ago to the day I badly broke my leg. There have been 4 surgeries, on the worst kind of lower leg break you can get. Walking was a challenge most of the year, but now, it's getting better and I can get back to the gym. I was missing working out - I wasn't missing getting up at 5 a.m., and getting fit again can still suck once I'm there, although it IS easier this time around, there's still an element of "embracing the suck."
So, make it a priority, and make it happen, and do that no matter how badly it sucks!

For me, it's not about motivation. Laziness and bad habits (not to mention the influence of other people) overcome motivation very easily. What worked for me was cultivating discipline: scheduling active time, workout time, and food prep time into my day and doing it, whether I liked it or not, just like I would with a dentist or doctor appointment. Five years in, I no longer even have to think about it. Of course I'm going to eat right most of the time and exercise 5-6 days a week!

If you certainly want to lose weight, then it's ideal to find a partner in this matter for yourself, and also to find some kind of stimulus within yourself. You have to force yourself to go to the gym or just for a jogging. It's important to start and get involved. The further, the easier it will be. And then you can motivate yourself with your own results, since it's unlikely that you will want to return to your past state by following such a difficult path. Also, my hobby for writing and exact sciences helps me, so I work in the field of economics and I'm engaged in constructing abstract-mathematical models. This allows me to switch to another type of class and keep balance.
Today was a rough one to get motivated to work out. It took all my focus to get my butt up and exercise. Finally at 9pm I literally rolled out of the chair put on YouTube music videos and did it. Once I started, maybe a minute into cardio, I felt it kick in and was able to clear the laziness fog away. Remembering why I need to do this-- For ME! I completed a great workout. Woo-hoo. Grateful, happy, and proud.
I don't know if this will help you, but I always thought I struggled primarily with motivation, thinking that IF I was Motivated, then I would do what I need to be doing to lose weight and be healthier. Then, I realized that I am Motivated, because I want to lose weight and be healthier. What I was not, was doing anything about losing weight and being more active. I decided to TRY every day. Try to track my calories, even if they go over. Exercise, even if it is only for 10 minutes. I don't "stay on the band wagon" very long, but I keep getting back up to try again. I haven't lost any weight yet, but I am not down on myself as much.
This is not too hard for me. I can do this.

The late fall and winter time are the most difficult times for me, I have never been diagnosed but I do believe I suffer from a mild case of seasonal depression. I also suffer from edema localized to my feet/ankles. I know it is most likely due to my weight and my job. If anybody could give me any ideas of how I could get motivated, I would greatly appreciate it.
