It means acting in my own interest....it helps me digest my food better, and thus I am spared the discomforts of indigestion. It helps me look better in my clothes, which boosts my confidence and helps me be at my best in social situations. I deserve to look, feel and function at my best. Because I am not acting out of rebellion, or a need to do anything and everything I want. I am an adult, not stuck at the level of a ten year old child.....
1. I don't want to be diabetic 2. I want to avoid having the problems my mother had with her weight 3. I want to be in family photos and feel good about them 4. I want to fit into my clothes 5. I want to feel comfortable seeing friends and family and not be thinking about how I've gone downhill since the last time we met 6. I want to take good care of my organs and live a long healthy life 7. I want to achieve my goal (no quitting!) and be proud of myself
Thanks everyone for your powerful and inspiring responses!
I want to eat healthfully and exercise to honor and unite with my body and not feel like we are at war. To make choices that are the best for me and for the planet. To live kindly - and that includes kindness to my own self.
"Lasting happiness cannot be found in pursuit of any goal or achievement. It does not reside in fortune or fame. It resides only in the human mind and heart." - The Book of Joy
I want to to be healthy, live for as long as I can and just get my self under control. I know what I have to do and this is what I need to do. I'm doing it not just for me but my grandchildren who lost the other grandmother and my granddaughter is troubled about not someday being able to say goodbye besides that she just loves me as I love her.
