With the viruses folks are getting and the warnings that the site isn't safe, I think it is time for SP to start taking a look at all these video ads, pop up ads, and those opinion polls that keep flying across the screen and figure out exactly who is messing the site up. It can't be a coincidence that so many people are suddenly having big issues.

I am waiting for the therapist-he should be here between now and noon. I'm hoping I won't have to go for a long walk outside because it's maybe 50 degrees and rather windy. We'll see.

This Restasis I picked up last night is kind of crazy. They tell you to use one little tube for one drop in each eye then throw it away. I did what my Doctor told me which was to use it twice (one tube a day) so you don't waste the medicine. The twist off top just pops right back on after you open it. Well, after two doses there is still enough medicine in that tube for another day. Why put that much very expensive medicine in one tube and then tell people to throw it away. What a waste of money. Just another way for the drug companies to get richer. Today I hear they've found another way to make millions-they are saying nearly everyone should be taking cholesterol medicine basically just because. Yeah, because they are afraid they won't be able to all retire as millionaires or is that billionaires. Kind of like expecting a cure for cancer when a cure stops the money flow. Okay, that is my rant for the day. emoticon
Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

I am so frustrated right now. I am having so much trouble getting on this site and getting to this message board. I have no idea what's going on. It seems every time I try it takes forever. I hVe not tried coming here on my main computer, I always use my IPad. If this doesn't get better real soon I might have to go back to it.
Dessie I did read your post and congrats on the new granddaughter and the move. I have never been to Hawaii but know it is a beautiful place to live.
Kerry so glad you are getting along so well. Now we have to get Mary through her surgery and recovery. We are all here for you Mary if not in person define in spirit. I think it funny all of a sudden the school is paying attention to,you. Can we see fear I their eyes? Hang in there this too will pass and you will never ever stand on a small chair again!
MaryLou how is the job going for your husband? I have been so wrapped up,in my daughters goings on that I haven,t been here much. I hope he has returned to the pay he deserves for the job he does.
Sandra good to,hear you had such an enjoyable weekend. And a big Happy Birthday to you. I created a card with a appt I have on my IPad but for some reason it will not send. If I have to I will take a picture of it and send it that way. We will see.
Well it is almost 10 so I need to go get my stuff ready for tomorrow. Pat

Mary, I was just kind of wondering if they are paying you to do the lesson plans for the sub or just expecting you to do them. Seems like after the first day or two the sub should be doing them. Just wondering.

Mary, I really don't want to be cynical, but it seems like they are more concerned now then when you broke your ankle? I'm glad they have realized how necessary it is for you to heal. Did you say the sub is doing lesson plans? You need time to relax and heal. So happy to hear you will be with your children for awhile. I probably never told you this before but I started subbing when my dd was in first grade. I was offered a position at the preschool by the school pta president. I worked there for one year. The preschool went down in numbers so I lost my job....I went back to subbing. The preschool director offered me the position again this year, but I declined. I discovered I enjoy working with the older children.

I believe I got the call the day before my surgery as to the time to be there. Seemed kind of strange but that seems to be the way they do it now. Got back to the grocery store and got the $150 supply of restasis. That is what the 3 month supply cost even after the discount card. The instructions are to break open the little tube, put one drop in your eyes and then throw it away. My eye doctor said that was a total waste and to close the tube up and use it again in the evening. That should make the supply last 6 months. I also picked up a loaf of the stores Breakfast bread which has lots of fruit in it and is really good. I haven't had it in a long time and I'm kind of tired of my cereal. Better finish up here.

Heehee, Donna, you are a bad influence, lol. Both the principal and the business manager came and stayed about 10 minutes. They saw a messy me, the brace, and how hard it was for me to get around. They both said everyone asked about me and they are trying to get this week's sub to take on a sub job for me "Until I come back, hopefully after Christmas!" I said I hoped it was sooner rather than later, too. So I'm glad it sounds like my job will be there when I get back.

I still haven't heard about the date or time for the surgery yet. I did call my hairdresser to see if I can get an appt. tomorrow. I haven't heard back from her yet.

Hugs to all!

mary: All the better for the boss to see you disheveled. And throw in a few, OUCH!!! and groan a lot so she gets the idea that you are in no shape to be doing paperwork. You might even consider babbling a bit so she thinks you are strung out on drugs. Surely she won't give you work to do then.

Donna, I will stay with Greg for the weekend and Cherilyn the week after. Then I will just have to see what they tell me as far as the progress I'm making and whether or not I can go home, climb stairs, etc. I hope your crazy day will settle down soon!!

My principal called and is bringing me supper. Hmmmm, she will have to see me grubby and so disheveled. I keep having to adjust the brace. Every time I get off the couch it slides down. It hurts!!

I thought the same thing about rehab for Mary but it sounds like she is having out patient surgery so I am thinking rehab is out. Mary you are going to have to come up with someone to live with until you can function at your own home.

I am at work and it is another whirlwind day, chest pain in one room, a hospice death in another, and a huge fall that took me an hour to do wound care on not to mention that we are missing 1/3 of our staff.

Oh, wow…peace at last, sort of! My sister and her husband left an hour ago. For all her foibles and his, too, they really did help me. But talk about directionally challenged: I had specific directions like ‘look in the top left dresser drawer, on the left side, for white and beige bras.’ She had the hardest time with that! Once she brought me some of Dave’s clothes and said, “I couldn’t find the grey zippered jacket.’ I told her I didn’t HAVE one and didn’t tell her to get it! She was always confused and that was worrisome, but they got me organized to an extent and I have what I need downstairs now. Greg is coming here after school and he will help if there’s something left undone. We should have a big cold snap tonight and I need him to check to see that the outdoor faucets are covered.
Kerry, you are feeling so much better, it seems, but you will maybe need to not do so much too soon! I’m glad you enjoyed the outing, though. So glad your daughter was able to help. The doctor didn’t say anything about rehab…it’s outpatient surgery and he told me that between yesterday and Friday I needed to think about who I would be staying with!
Marylou, I’m so glad the teachers still recognize how valuable you are! I hope these sub jobs will fit the bill until something more permanent comes along. You’ve come a long way from the preschool assistant!! I haven’t been approached for lesson plans after this week so I hope they will step in and do it. My resistance is so low and I’m so tired!!
Sue, you make me smile. I wish you were running my show! I am better today than I was yesterday, for sure. I will stay with Greg post-op through the weekend and with Cherilyn next week. She and Steven are going out of town this weekend with friends and I’m not about to ‘make’ them change them. I’m hoping that another sister might come to help for a few days AND help with our mom.
Sandra, if you get bored at your house or need a couple of days away again, I can pay you a dollar a day for nursing care and you can have free room and board, lol! A win-win situation for all!! I’m so glad you had a great birthday weekend. Believe it or not, my sister brought my box of greeting cards downstairs so I sent your card this morning! I hope the actual day is a lovely one for you.
I need to take a nap but my heater guy just now showed up so I will have to wait!!
Hugs to everyone.
Mary

I am back from lunch and the grocery store and am totally exhausted! I will need to go back later for my prescription since I have the card needed for the payment so I can't just ask Larry to stop on the way home. bummer Lunch at the Metro Diner was great. I think everyone enjoyed what they got. I'm not sure I saw two of the same meals and there were two dozen of us there. I had a Grilled Three Cheese with bacon and tomato. I only ate half and brought the other half home for dinner. Trish also brought home half of hers home-she had a club sandwich that took 3 bites to get from top to bottom it was so thick. I just talked to my mom-she calls to see what info I've gotten on FB about the rest of the family since she can't really see a computer any more. My nephew is in D.C. doing a few more tests before he donates bone marrow for a guy in Spain. Jason has been the only match they have found for him anywhere.

Marylou, hope the jobs keep coming in at least until you find something else or your husband's paycheck returns to normal or thereabouts. Sorry you're having to go through this when you're also getting ready to send a child to college.

Okay, I think I'll grab a pillow and take a nap!!

Hi girls, just a quick note. I sub for half a day at the new school. It was an easy morning. A fourth grade teacher asked today if I could sub for the next two days. So my week is planned.

Dessie, so good to hear from you! Wow, how nice to be headed to the beautiful island of Hawaii. I wish you well. Great news on your soon to be new granddaughter Lauren. You will be joining the others here in new grandbaby status. :) hugs and hope to hear from you more often.

So good to hear from you, Sandra. Sounds like you have been busy. Hope all is well.

I have prayers for you, Mary. Your assistant is very kind. I would take her up on the stay. You really need some help right now. I agree with Sandra, hope the sub is working on the lesson plans. That is the last thing you need to worry about right now. Hugs and feel better soon.

Well off I go. I need to get some errands done.

Sandra, that sounds like a fantastic weekend. I'm glad you got to get out for the weekend and really enjoy yourself.

Mary, I'm really sorry to hear you have to have surgery. Did the doctor say what exactly was wrong that they have to fix? I would guess that after surgery they may have you go to a rehab center where you have help 24/7. It was kind of nice when I did that after my second knee replacement though it did get boring after a while.

Okay, I've now forgotten everything else. I am going out to lunch today with the XYZ group from church. Trish has the day off so she is driving me and maybe one or two others who may need a ride since we'll be carpooling. I also need to stop at the grocery store/pharmacy-I've had a prescription from the eye doctor for more than a month that I do need to get filled (Restasis for my dry eyes) and I need some groceries. Yesterday my husband brought home chips and dip-not what any of us needs.

Hello to all,
I am worried about getting on this site because our computer found a maleware (sp?) Virus an supposedly it came from here but I'm taking the chance because I am missing everyone. I had a wonderful weekend in SanAntonio at Cindy's with my brother Lonnie and his wife Tina. We went to Floors country store on Friday and saw a real good band, on Saturday we went to a farmers market at the pearl beer brewery, then on to the japanese tea gardens. From there we went to the Mia Tira (?) Mexican restaurant for lunch. My brother paid the mariachis to sing to me for my birthday (its wed) and they sang everything in spanish. Then to the mexican mercado (flea market) Then we went back to Cindys and rested some. My sister in law was actually feeling pretty sick but didn,t want to give up her weekend. While they were resting I went to church and when I got back we went to the movies and saw Gravity. It was very good but I didn't like the ending. On Sunday Cindy made a breakfast cassarole an we just sat around and visited until Lonnie and Tina left for home. Then I gave Cindy a curly hair perm. By that time Doug and Jennifer and her daughter Kacy came to visit and also my granddaughter and G-granddaughter Kimberly. Cindy made a home made chicken lasagne that was unbelievable. She even marinated then grilled the chicken before she put it in the layers. Plus she made a dump cake for desert. It was all so good and we had such a wonderful time eating and visiting. This morning Doug and Jennifer came and picked me up and took me to eat breakfast at the Gunther house which is part of the pioneer flour company. They make the pioneer bisquit mix, I can tell you the bisquits were wonderful. After all of the fun and good company and good food it was time to come home.

Mary, such terrible news! I was so hoping it would not come to that. I am so sorry. Don't be frightened about the surgery you will do just fine with that, but I don't blame you for being worried about having some one to take care of you when you get home. Why can't you continue to stay with Cherilyn? I realize that it might be hard for her with the babies but you are very worth it. When you have a long term sub. you don't have to still do lesson plans do you? Surely not. I will keep you I my daily prayers.

Dessie, so glad to hear from you again! Wonderful grandbaby news. I hope your move will be a good one for you. I don't know if you have been on here since l moved . We moved a little over a year ago and I just love it. We are way out in the country an it is very peaceful and beautiful. Hope you will be as happy with your move as I am with mine.
Sandra

Dessie, what a joyous post! So glad you came back and let us know about your move and the wonderful news of sweet Lauren's upcoming birth! I hope it's a fabulous thing for you. Please keep in touch as you are able!

Girls, I'm not answering individuals. I got bad news today at the orthopedic surgeon's. I have to have knee surgery and will be out of work until late January. I have a huge groin to ankle brace and am very uncomfortable. I am trying to figure out where I go from here. I'm back o nthe couch but my sweet teaching partner just called and says she has an elevator in her townhouse and I am welcome to spend a few days there rather than sleeping on my couch so I may take her up on that. I am scared and upset. Please say a prayer for me!

I love y'all!

Hi Dessie, so great to hear from you. Best Wishes with your move to Hawaii and with that new granddaughter. This certainly is the year for new grandchildren. Mary, Pat, Pam and now you, all with new grandchildren. So, so special. What an exciting move for you. So wonderful that you will be living with/or near your daughter. Have a safe trip and always remember you have friends here at Born in 1950. - Sue

Hi, Dessie!! It's great to hear from you. That's quite a move from Georgia to Hawaii but boy, how exciting especially with a new granddaughter coming. We will expect lots of baby pictures from you, too. emoticon

Mary, I hope you get some rest today. It would be nice if we could do things normally but right now we just can't. Be very careful with that knee.

Marylou, I'm glad your daughter has that big decision made-that gives her a chance to concentrate on other things. Hopefully the scholarship money will be there for her.

I won't be getting any clothes moved around for a bit-I did get out a couple pair of jeans and sweatshirts before our Colorado trip so that will have to work for a while. We're still in the low to mid 70's right now though either tomorrow or Wednesday is supposed to be in the 50's. Tomorrow I am going out to lunch with the church senior group-Trish has the day off and will drive. I guess it's about time to ask the therapist when I can try driving. Actually the hard part is getting in and out of the car. Right now the passenger seat has to be pushed all the way back and the seat partially reclined so I don't over bend. I have to back in and swing both legs in together. That's all a little harder with the steering wheel in the way. I also told Larry to measure both the cars from the ground to the seat so I can figure out if I can get in and out of his since it's smaller than mine. Oh the fun times of joint replacement!

Hello to all my SPF Sisters,
I know it has been a very long time since I have visited the site. I am so sorry for missing you all. You have been there for me as we all have been there for each other. I am doing well. I will be moving to Hawaii at this weekend, so I am updating my info.

Mary, thank you for the recent email. I was not checking my Comcast email, but I have to close it so I was transferring info doc to hotmail. I had to log in to update you beautiful sister. My daughter and SIL are expecting their first child (daughter) in December in Hawaii. I was planning to visit them just before Thanksgiving and return at the end of March, but I have changed my mind, and I will be staying with them in Hawaii to help take care of my granddaughter -Lauren.

From sometime next week I will try to respond to Sparkpeople (SPF) more often. Congrats to all the Grandparents and best wishes to everyone. Love to Born in 1950!!!!!

Oh, girls, I had a rough night. I feel so tired already! I didn't get to sleep until 2....pain in my knee! Once I fell asleep I was okay and woke at 7am. My sister called at 7:45 and couldn't figure out why I was out of breath getting to the phone!!! It took me an hour and 15 minutes to get into the shower, out and dressed, and downstairs. Cherilyn has been laying out my clothes and towel, washcloth, etc. Everything I need has been at hand. Boy, do I have rearranging to do and I hope my sister will help. Not much help last night at all. They left after an hour and a half!!

Marylou, that's my next big problem. The season has changed and all my heavier clothes are in canvas boxes on the shelves in my closet. I will ask my sister to put the boxes on the closet floor so I can root around and find what I need. They will be rumpled but at least I will be warm! I hope Greg gets me the new microwave soon!

Thanks for the virtual cheer, Sue. I hope the outcome will be good, too!

Hi all, I have been busy today. My dh blew the leaves to the curb and did some handy man stuff on the eves of our house. The squirrels have been munching on our trim. We found some rubber spray to put on the corners....hope it works. Tomorrow we have to touch it up with white paint.

Sue, my dd did finally receive an acceptance letter from the NC college of her choice. However we are waiting to see if they send her a scholarship to help with the expenses. I will let you know the out come. Hopefully by December she will make her final decision.

Donna, you have done everything I should have done this weekend. I will try to get the sheets cleaned and clothes in my closet changed out tomorrow. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Diana, I know you will be happy to return home, though I know you will miss your darling gd.

Kerry, you are always so busy. Hope the desert was a success. Yummy! I also hope you are healing and getting around better.

Pam, your gs is so cute!!!! I enjoy seeing his sweet face.

Mary, good news for you on the school front. I'm happy to hear they have hired you an assistant. It sounds like you have been busy with the HW and lesson plans. Hope you have time to rest. Sorry to hear your Microwave broke. I know it must be hard not having one. I so depend on mine.

Pat, you must be exhausted from the stay with your dd. I hope you catch up on your rest and looking forward to seeing more grandbaby pictures.

Well off to bed I go. Tomorrow is Veterans day....no work.

Ohm yum...the apple grandes sound delicious, Kerry. Sit down while you do that!

Diana, I know you've enjoyed your time but will also be glad to get home. Safe travel along the way.

Girls, it's been nice getting home but I'm sure I've overdone it. There is SO much out of order. My microwave died and I'm having to rethink how to heat up food. I have 2 ovens that get very little use, lol. One has been used twice already today! My sister came at 4:00 and brought wonderful food from her SIL's BBQ place. But they wanted me to go to dinner at 6:00 because that's when they eat and I told them as nicely as I could that I can't possibly go anywhere for a while! They were surprised!! So my sister asked me at 5:15 what they could do for me before they left! I asked for a few things to be taken upstairs, put in the laundry room, etc. My sister said she would help me heat up my dinner in the microwave but I reminded her I no longer had one that worked!! So she and her husband deboned the Costco chicken a friend brought and made little dinner packets for me. I had chicken, dirty rice, and a twice baked potato. So yummy!

I've graded a bunch of papers and will try to finish the rest by lunch tomorrow so I can bring them to school. I paid bills and sort of organized some things on Dave's desk. Until it's mine, it's still his, lol! I can't wait to be in my own bed. I hope I can navigate the shower okay and get myself pulled together tomorrow. I'll let y'all know!

Sounds like most everyone is having a good day. It's been really quiet around here. I am going to try to make some homemade apple grandes for dessert. I got the red hots crushed (aka cinnamon imperials) so I need to chop the apple pie filling into tiny pieces. We are going to have some changing weather here, too. One of the days this week isn't supposed to hit 50. I see in our church bulletin today that there is a "Woven Hearts Christian Women's Quilting Retreat" at St. Simons Island, GA. Looks like there will be 3 weekends for it. It says Make a quilt top, sew Biblical blocks, learn during mini Bible lessons and more. hmmm Maybe if I actually quilted more that would be interesting.

Just stopping in to say a quick hello. On my last day of granddaughter duty. Should have more time to post after I get home.

Mary I know you are struggling with your knee.

Pat I hope Stephanie is feeling better now. I hear your arms are a bit sore from carrying around that little one.

Kerry I hope you are being careful with your hip.

Pam is the weather turning nasty? I heard there is a cold front headed that way.

Marylou I think of you often.

Donna you are so capable in your job. I wish you had a better boss. Enjoy that walking. Is it okay now that they are taking your hiking area away?

Sue I really need to quilt for a year to catch up with my projects. Hope your Christmas quilts are coming along.

I will read the posts as soon as I can to see what you have all been doing.

Hooray, hooray for a lazy day, Pam! I guess I should say that I'm joining you, but I've been busy since I got home. Watch out for that crazy weather and the computer virus. Sandra said she had one and it came from Spark People. My antivirus does a weekly scan and I don't see anything bad but you never know! Of COURSE Tony is gone when this happens!

Donna, I winced at reading that!!! I will never do something impulsive like that again. I hope....it does happen when you never expect it. And a small chair seems so innocent. It certainly was lower to the ground than my stepladder would have been!

Pat's daughter's surgery went well...Pat's been inundated with baby and grown up 'child care!' I think she's back home now and hopefully will check in later. I'm sure she's pooped. The FB pictures have been precious.

I am so proud of myself. Cherilyn brought me home at 9:30 and Greg came at 10:30. He put chairs in various places for me to sit and swivel into the step ups. He watched me bump up the stairs halfway and adjusted the heater so I won't freeze. A church friend brought me a Costco chicken and they both left at noon. I've been grading papers for 45 minutes but here's my big to-do: my microwave died while I was gone so I put some leftovers in the oven. When they were ready I put them on a paper plate and carefully moved the plate from one countertop to the other, then to my strategically placed chair in the kitchen. I sat and ate, then threw the paper plate in the trash! Lunch was served and cleaned up. My sister hadn't left for Houston by noon but will probably be here by 3:00 ish. So I will grade more papers and take it slowly. So glad to be home and feeling better!!

Mary: They were taking pictures at church for the pictorial list of members. I had to cringe when the ministers wife was stepping up and down off a child's plastic chair to get the right angle on every picture she took

I'm just popping in to say hi, as I haven't posted for quite some time. Our laptop managed to collect a massive virus, which affected how all our other computers worked, because the virus took up so much bandwidth. The virus is so bad that it won't allow an anti-virus program to get to it. So Tony (who is away today) is going to work on a "root" anti-virus - oh - whatever!

The weather today is still above freezing, but the wind in incredible! It is blowing so hard in gusts that branches are being snapped off trees and I doubt there will be any leaves left on them at the end of today.

Anyone heard from Pat lately? I can't see any posts about how Stephanie's surgery went. I hope everything worked out all right.

How bizarre. I have two windows facing in different directions in this room. I looked left, and the sky is blue, puffy white clouds and sunshine. I looked behind me out the other window, and the sky is dark and cloudy! It has also been raining, I see. I missed that. LOL!

Anyway, I'm off downstairs to read for awhile. I'm going to have a very lazy day (going to have? I've done nothing except make my breakfast all day..LOL).

God bless,
Pam

Another perk, Kerry...no mowing for a while...a LONG while, I hope. I had roaches. They are always around since Houston is so humid. I killed a huge tree roach at school the other day...the kids cheered! I hope your cleaning will be mild and just enough to make you feel productive.

Boy, is my house cold! It was in the low 50's this morning and my house is quite chilly. Okay for now but I will have Greg adjust it. I will call the heating and AC people to come for a check up while I'm home for another few days. Cherilyn brought me back around 9:30 and I was able to get into the house with no trouble, negotiating the back step with slow but steady swigning inside! I will have my sister and her husband come after lunch, I think. So I should be fine for now. I will be very careful going up the stairs and will have someone watch me to make sure I am okay...I promise!

Donna, you get so much done both at work and at home. Enjoy your day off today and get that rest. I think my own bed will feel wonderful!! You took the dogs out and still made 8:00 church? Wow! I will see if someone can take me to Mass next week. Once I figure out my gameplan I will be fine!

Good morning. I stayed home from church again-showered last night but was a little slow getting up this morning so someone beat me to the bathroom and since it's so small only one can be in there at a time. I did have breakfast and got my hair down by the time he was ready to leave so I stayed home and read the paper and got to watch CBS's Sunday Morning. Now it's about time for him to get back home. I need to get some cleaning done in the kitchen so I may call my friend for some help-I opened a drawer to get out a clean towel and there were bug droppings in there-gross!!! It's cooled off a bit so I guess that's why they are moving in. I got that drawer cleaned out and sprayed but can't do any of the bottom cabinets. If Barbara comes over I'll have to get her a gift card for helping out. I don't want it to look like I only want to see her so she can clean. Okay enough about my dirty house.

As for mowing, no one has mowed but since it's cooling down a little bit it's not growing as fast. If I had thought of it earlier yesterday my grandson could have gotten through the backyard with the riding mower. Maybe tomorrow or next weekend.

Sue, I have found with the magazines my friends pass on to me that they are 85% ads which make them fairly easy to get through. You could probably do 2 or 3 a day!

Mary, I know you'll love getting home but take it easy on those stairs!

Donna, I sure hope this week is much better than last!

Marylou, hope you're having a good weekend.

Guess I should get in a set of some of my exercises-I keep putting them off but I need to be prepared for the therapist tomorrow.

Wow, I have been MIA! I don't even know why except I am not getting notices again. It may be because I haven't posted in a while.

Sue: Glad you are back. I used to be part of the snack thing in between services at church too. I did drop out after a few years of it.

I had the week from he#@ last week and was going straight to bed at 4 pm. I hope next week will be better. After 4 hours of work yesterday, I played catch with the family as they are putting GS through fielding drills to give him some practice. Then I washed the windows outside, and rotated the mattress and washed the sheets. The fleece sheets are now on for the winter.

I have to do all the housework today as Monday will be a hike and then the dreaded 2 hour dentist appt.
I have walked the dogs 30 min, will leave for church at 8, hope to play some tennis with GS and then settle in to clean house. There also is fun looking benefit going on in the afternoon I may mosey over to.

Kerry: It sounds like you are progressing well. That firend's set back sounds terribly scary. I was just wondering, who is mowing the lawn while you are layed up?

Mary: Nothing like a shower to perk you up. Hope it goes well at your own house this weekend.

ML: I have decided fall is my favorite time of year.

Oh, Sue, I thought of that Brownie Brittle last night when Cherilyn went to bed....so tempting! I finally started reading an eBook I'd started last month. I read a lot yesterday and hope to read some this week. School work usually consumes me and I thought I'd read a lot this past week but I was so tired I just didn't even consider it. Enjoy your magazines...a girl with a plan!

I will go home today. Cherilyn was hoping Greg could come and help get me settled but his niece was born last night and they are going to the hospital this afternoon. I guess all will be fine once I get home and get settled. Soooo much to do! I haven't been home in 10 days!!

Talk later..

Up early for some reason. Checkin in with my Sparkmail friends and then going to grab a cup of coffee and read a magazine. I realized yesterday that I've been so wrapped up in my book reading that my un-read magazine pile was about to reach the ceiling. A friend was here looking through the pile for pictures for a preschool's class project and we realized this pile goes back about 3 years. I'm not going to waste them and throw them out unread, so my goal is to read at least one a day. Should take me quite a few months. Fortunately several of the subscriptions have run out. It may be last years news/fashions/foods/exercises, but they are still interesting to read. If I keep busy reading, maybe I'll stay out of the Brownie Brittle.

Safe showering, and pray a little prayer for me if you go, Kerry! It may be a few weeks before I can drive. But maybe some of my friends will take me next week. Tomorrow I have to concentrate on getting the House réady for me.

My doctor just said to shower as normal but I know how good it felt when I got home and was actually able to take one. I will be getting one soon and may actually try to get to church in the morning.

Sue, that's kind of the same as saying a serving of ice cream if 1/2 cup. Yeah, right. I have seen that brownie brittle but have not picked any up because I know I would eat it all.

Clean clear through, that's me, lol...but wow, sue. 3 times a day?? That's a bunch! The brownie brittle sounds decadent. When can I expect you at my door?? How sweet that you will take care of tomorrow's coffee and snacks. I will miss church for the 2nd week. Once I can drive I do have the handicapped hang tag...

One of the twin godmothers came for an afternoon visit and brought lunch. We had a great time but I am so tired.

. Great news: the principal sent word that she will have an assistant for me and will help provide transportation when I get to come back!!

The babies won't sleep and I am soooo ready for one!!

Cold but sunny and beautiful here in MD. I've been busy all day running errands. I'm in charge of coffee hour between services tomorrow at church. Trying not to over-do, but would like the table to look nice. I bought cookies, cheese and crackers, red and green grapes, veggie tray and hopefully that will do it. While shopping at Sam's I found a new deadly sin - - Brownie Brittle. It comes in a bag, it's thin, crunchy slices of fudgy brownie, like the crispy edges, sprinkled with toffee bit. OMG, it save the bag is 16 servings, it could have easily been ONE serving for me. I'm definitely not sharing with the church's coffee hour.

MaryLou, did Whitney make the college decision yet? Exciting time for her, I'm sure. It so great that she's going away to school. I didn't and it's probably my biggest regret. We all need to spread our wings and be our own person. You can't live and learn if you are not allowed to live. She will do great, you have done a wonderful job raising her and she sounds very sensible.

Mary, I'm glad you are feeling refreshed and clean. Funny, my last surgery required showing 3 times a day. I got so sick of being wet, changing dressings and changing my clothes, but the doctor wanted the incisions kept moist. I did that for 8 weeks. I was the cleanest person on record. Take it easy and let that leg rest. -s

Ahhh...I'm clean again! I got my,self into the shower with minimum help and out with none!! Cherilyn's bathroom is huge and mine is cozy so if I get the shower chair from my neighbor I should be okay. As Dave's mom used to say, "it don't take much to make me happy!!" ,lol.Marilou, color changes must be so lovely!
Kerry, how awful for your friend.

I did just direct-the guys carried it all to the pickup so my son-in-law dropped it off with our grandson. This morning Larry took the kid back down there to work and will need to pick him up in about 45 minutes. The laundry is going now-I separated it using the grabber and Larry got it into the machine.

This morning I got a FB message from the friend who had her hip replaced 2 weeks before me. She has been doing great but was in physical therapy yesterday morning and while doing a hamstring stretch her hip popped out. She said she screamed so loud people outside could hear her. They had to call an ambulance to get her to the hospital where they had to operate and put it back. They did send her back home last night but now she'll have to be extra careful. My therapist says once it does that it tends to stay weak. That means I need to work really hard on those hip and butt muscles to make them really strong!!!!!!

Mary, I'm glad you get to go home. I guess the prognosis was pretty good? Hope so. Take care!!

Marylou, it's good to hear from you. Hope you are all doing well.

Guess I should figure out what to do for lunch.

Popping in to say hello. It's a beautiful day out. Looks like the leaves are falling, time for the raking to begin. Mary, be careful with the shower and hope you are feeling better. Sue, good to see you back sparking. It's always good to be home after a long trip.

Just 'direct traffic,' Kerry, don't go looking for those garage sale things! I do SO need to get rid of things. Maybe once I get this latest mess behind me I will begin to streamline in hopes of moving to a one story smaller place!!

Shower day for me, hooray!! Who knew I could stand to live this way???

Hey, Sue, glad you made it home! Sorry about the bad weather.
Mary, sorry the babies were fussy-glad it wasn't that way all day. My last one screamed all the time. ugh
I have my grandkids here tonight-grandson has to be at church early to help run a garage sale. I had them take my inversion table down since I know I can't use it with the new hip and when my back hurts I would be tempted. I also sent down 7 or 8 vases that I have no room for.

Oh, sweet sue, it's great to have you back! I guess all that traveling does take it's toll. What a wonderful niece you are to go see the aunt so often.

I seem to be so surprised when the end of the afternoon comes and I haven't done anything. I am so tired, though! I guess it's recovery.

The babies have been so fussy today but have also had cute happy times. It wears me out!!

I wil try really hard to do only what the doctor tells me as far as recovery. My partner said she was still at school at 5:00, trying to get ready for my sub as well as her class. I feel so bad about that. She said 2 of my girls burst into tears today in her math class and asked when I was coming back! Wild child was terrible again and added to the overall stress.

It's nice to feel missed, thank you Kerry, Mary and all others. Sue is back. She took a quick trip to CT to visit her aunt. Flew up on Wed, back today. She joins the ranks fo the "no sleepers" and had to non-sleep night. Her back, neck and Bursitis hips were killing her. She's very tired today and has spent the afternoon napping and not even feeling guilty about it. So right now she is finally feeling human enough to chat with you all.

I'm back and glad to be in my own home. I had to warm and beautiful days in CT, but the old front come through last night on the east coast and today is very cold and blustery. The news keeps warming of an approaching snow storm for Sunday or Monday. Oh Grand!! I guess tomorrow I'll make the bread and milk run.

Kerry I'm glad t hear the hip surgery has progress well and the staples have been removed. I'm sure your excellent exercise schedule has aided in speeding your recovery. You are very dedicated to your exericse and this proves it.

Mary, I'm so glad you have finally gotten set up with a Workers Comp Rep and have an appointment with a doctor. I pray that this delay has not done more damage to the knee. You take all the time and support you are entitled to. This school certainly has done you no favors by dragging their feet. I know you are a dedicated teacher and love working with children (except the wild child), but sometimes things happen and changes or opportunities happen when we least expect them. YOU are the #1 concern right now. The school and it's "wonderful" administration with somehow manage. You certainly did not break your knee on purpose and it will not heal and repair itself over night. There are definite limits as to what you can do during this recovery period and please the "Principal" should not be on the top of the list.

Pat, It's good to hear Stephanie came through the surgery with no problems. Now she can devote her attentions to her young son. She will have a wonderfully time being a healthy and happy mommy. Sorry to hear work was a messed up when you returned. Hopefully you can whip this minister into shape and get him on YOUR schedule. Sounds like that could be a lot of work.

Sandra, enjoy your day with you father. Speicial time. Have fun with Cindy and your brother this weekend. Sounds like you have so fun plans lined up.

Pam, has the cold weather settled into your area? Is it white yet?

Diana, You've had a busy week caring for grandaughter. I hope your son and wife have enjoyed their vacation. When do they get back and you return to OK?

Time to unpack my suitcase. One of my most hated jobs.

I did sleep much better last night-two pretty long stretches with a potty break in the middle. I'm now done with my therapy for the day-3 sets of 10 reps of all the seated exercises and one set of 20 for all the standing. Then we went outside and walked through our yard, driveway and on through three more yards before heading back on the street. We'll be yard walking again Monday and then we'll start doing some work with no cane. I am now exhausted and ready for a nap since I woke up at 5:30. That's what happens when you go to bed at 9!! I need to grab the ice and heat and go lie down for a bit and then put together a meat loaf, I guess.

Try #2

Mary, I'm really glad they finally got you taken care of so you can see the specialist! Hopefully he can tell you to just keep doing what you're doing and it will be fine. Today you're doing better than I am-too much muscle tension in my right thigh-quad/hip flexor area. I can't even get it straight when I lie down but I am going to head to the bed soon and try again. I keep doing some of the little stretches the therapist showed me but it's not helping-the Aleve doesn't seem to be helping either. I've also used icy hot and the heating pad. Ice is my next choice but not what the therapist recommended.

Well, I have gotten through my spark points page and now I ithink it's time to get up, do a little walking and then head to bed. Extremely early for me, but I can't handle sitting here anymore! Enough complaining-time to go.

Hooray...I now have a case number and file! I spoke with a very nice nurse who told me she rarely has the same person to work with but my file has been placed in front of her every day since Monday and she's been waiting and wondering why no one had 'taken care' of me! Now that the school finally filed the claim, I'm to call back tomorrow afternoon and hopefully she will have an appointment for me...or early next week. She was very nice and said the school told her' they just didn't realize what they were supposed to do.' .....but at least the ball is rolling!

Kerry, don't do anything ahead of schedule. I will follow that rule, too. You and me, baby!!

I hope it continues to go well for both of us. I still have a couple of weeks before starting to learn to bend past 90 degrees. We have to make sure nothing pops out of place when we start going that far. emoticon
