Kerry, Sue is going to visit her aunt in Connecticut...she sees her once a month or so. I'm not sure when she will be back.

It sounds like your healing is going so well. I'm really happy for you!

Oh yeah, I would be mad, too! Wow-way to take care of your teachers!!! I do hope it's just a crack that is healing on it's own.

My pain through this hip has not been bad at all so long as I follow all the rules. Any pain comes from trying to push the leg a little further out or up and trying to get comfortable lying on my back to sleep. Ice helps the incision area and heat for the hip flexor and a little Aleve takes care of it. Today they said I was ahead of schedule and doing great. Part of my therapy was for the therapist to push and pull a little bit at me to make sure I could catch myself and not fall. He did have a belt on me to grab hold of me if I started falling.

Marylou, glad your husband enjoyed his birthday. DD gave her dad a wonderful gift.

Pam, your grandson looks like he is going to be a real go getter! He'll keep everyone busy.
I know I'm missing at least Sue. What is Sue up to these days? Maybe I just forgot her posts-surgery does that to my mind.

She wasn't the one who answered the phone. The asst. principal apologized. I hope it's not set back my recovery. I'm not happy at all. But I'm trying to just be okay until I find out what's going on. It does sound less than 'right.'

Mary. I hope you called the school and raised holy h eck with the principal. I am pretty sure that is illegal. It might even interfere with your recovery.

Well, I'm back from seeing the doctor and I'm seeing RED! The school hasn't filed for Workman's Comp yet, so the Urgent Care people don't have a case number for me. SO they don't have an orthopedic doctor's appointment for me either. The sweet doctor apologized and went to the front desk personally to get to the bottom of it. So I now get to be off until next Thursday. I hope one of my sisters can come to be with me Monday and Tuesday. Cherilyn will take me home on Sunday and I will try out being by myself overnight. I think it will work out, but I am not happy about the school dropping the ball. I hope this won't be worse than it already is. I want everything to just fall into place! I need my job!!

Hmmmm….back to no notifications once again for this thread only. My other two threads that I am on do send notices but this one is most prolific…go figure!

My tummy troubles seem to be ‘behind me,’ lol, thank goodness! I can’t wait to get a good shower and wash my hair. I never go ‘au naturelle’ and not cleaning up is driving me crazy! It’s going to be another ordeal to get into the shower but my son and brother in law put a swivel bar stool in the bathroom for me to sit on and rotate into the shower. I hope it works. I’ll know something about the next plans once I see the doctor today, I hope.

Donna, I guess I didn’t think about how hard the actual healing is on your body. I’m so tired and I literally do nothing physical but hobble to the bathroom all day! I hope they will give me an extra day or so off next week just to get used to being at home---if I GET to go home. I will have to get someone to really help me organize, get groceries, etc. I want to be as independent as I can be, but it remains to be seen if I can do it…and WHEN I can do it! I hope your day at work will be less stressful for you today.

Sandra, I hope you get your glasses and the potty ring, too! Getting away and going to stay with Cindy will give you a well needed Time Out, lol. Remember to take your Nook and instructions, etc. and go to Barnes and Noble for them to help you out. They should be able to get to the bottom of whatever your problems are there.

Marylou, I’m so happy your husband has such a great attitude AND that his customers and staff see that! I hope something good will come his way and glad he had a good birthday.

Pam, this isn’t the way I would have handled me injury but my hands seem to be tied along with my knee! Best case scenario will be that it’s healing already and nothing else needs to be done. I don’t know where I go from here, but I will find out in a few hours!! I hope your ‘long trek home’ was uneventful!

Diana, I totally agree that the little ones wear you out! These girls are so good but soooo active, even for babies! Annalise, the smaller twin, is wiggly and so into moving all around. She’s impatient and wants to see what’s going on. She only sleeps in her swing during the day…can’t resist it, lol. But otherwise, she wants to be in the middle of the action. Grace, the bigger twin, is laid back. She takes good naps (but rarely at the same time as her sister!) but wakes up frequently in the night. Cherilyn usually goes on the couch with her so she won’t wake Annalise---or Steven! After a quick cuddle she goes back to sleep but Cherilyn doesn’t get a good night’s sleep all in a row. I do get tired even holding or feeding them…it takes a lot of energy. Cherilyn rarely sits----but we do get to chat and occasionally play Words with Friends, lol! I hope you get in great grandmother time. So glad you get to see the grownups over the weekend, too.

Kerry, I’m amazed that you are even contemplating getting out your own decorations! I hope you continue to mend so completely! I wonder if I will have PT for my knee. The doctor told me I didn’t have to have it for the ankle but I paid for it myself. I think the knee recovery will be trickier and most likely I will. Do take care! Glad you didn’t have to get in and out of the car!

Sue, have a safe flight. I hope you enjoy the time with your aunt.

Pat, give us an update on Stephanie. Did she come home or have to stay overnight? I hope she will be just fine.

I need to get tomorrow’s lesson plans out of the way and to the principal. I’ll check in after the doctor’s appt.

Love to all,
Mary

Just had birthday cake. My dh loved it, so I guess it was a success.. I'm not a fan of peanut butter frosting....probably a good thing. :) Donna, my dh is doing good with the cards he was dealt. His customers are very supportive, and very upset with the situation. We are truly blessed with all the support we have received from our friends. He is a trooper. I'm very proud of him for moving forward. It helps having people around him praising his work. Just pray another door opens for him soon.

My dd bought her father a superman t-shirt. She wrote in the card " you are my hero." Brought a tear to his eyes.

Pam, your grandson.is growing up fast. Love his new picture.

Girls, My dh says thanks for the birthday cheer.

Whew! What a crazy busy day at work. I'll spare you the details but it was a whirlwind all day. So glad to be home and resting on my bed quietly. I may not even run the dogs tonight. It is bitter cold out there.

ML: Hope the job search improves for you. How is DH doing now that he is back at the ol grind with less pay?

Diana: I know what you mean about entertaining them every second. That is how my 2 GS are in CA. I don't remember my kids being so busy or needing constant supervision. Now I know why my DD says she can't watch the boys by herself all weekend long. . . being a helicopter mom is exhausting.!!

Pat : HOw is Stephanie and the baby? Hope it all went well.

Sandy: ENjoy your trip to see your daughter. A little me time is always important.

Kerry: You are coming along very nicely. YOu never did talk much about the pain during all this. Was it bad? It is such a big operation. Hope it makes you feel so much better then you did before.

Mary: It isn't sitting that tires you out, it is the healing and the extra effort even the littlist thing takes to do that tires you out.

Ok, I am talked out. Just going to lay here and figure out dinner.

Hey gang,

I’m still at work, but I’ll be finished soon. I just thought I’d pop in. Sandra, you enjoy your days away and have a wonderful time in San Antonio!

Marylou, here’s hoping that something comes up on the job front soon! And tell hubby Happy Birthday from all us Sparkgirls.

Mary, hoping that your knee is improving quickly, but I’m shocked that you haven’t seen a proper “bone” doctor yet.

Diana, I salute you that you can handle a 4 year old for 10 days...LOL! Love my grandson as I do, I know that he’d run me ragged in 2 minutes flat with his energy! You’ve seen the videos. Once he’s on the move, he’ll NEVER stop!! LOL

Pat, I will assume that Stephanie’s surgery is over and that everything is fine. I had my gall bladder out a few years ago, and it was such a simple procedure and I was back at work in a week. (now, mind you, halfway through my first day back, I realized I probably should have taken two weeks..) But until then, I felt great very quickly.

Sue, it sounds like your weather is like our weather. It was so chilly yesterday, but today has been much “warmer” (how ‘bout – not so cold?) LOL It was very depressing when the Courier guy came at 4:30 and when he whipped up the door, it was getting dark already! I grump about not being able to see outside in the summer, but man, I’m quite happy not to have to look out in the winter.

Donna, your hiking group sounds great. It’s wonderful to make new friends as well as get your exercise in, isn’t it? :)

Well, I’m off now and heading into the house (long trip home...LOL!) I have to start thinking about what to make for supper. Tony doesn’t like eating before 7:30, but I at least have to plan!

Have a wonderful evening girls!
God bless,
Pam

Happy Birthday to your husband, Marylou.
Hope your husband feels like taking you our for your glasses and that wax ring rather than you having such a full day tomorrow.

As for the cable box, I sent my daughter without me. I didn't feel like getting in and out of the car twice in one day and I figure Larry and I will be going to the grocery store tonight. I did walk back and forth through the house, though, getting the Halloween stuff put away. I didn't get the Thanksgiving stuff out, though, since that box is on the floor and I didn't feel like trying to pick it up or reach down for the stuff in it. Right now I think I am frying my quad with the heating pad. Guess it's time to switch to ice for the side and back of the leg.

Diana, I missed putting in my reply to you...DUH.. When taking care of the 4 year old on a full on day to day basis it gives a person full insight as to why a woman our age cannot have babies doesn't it? It would be very hard to do full time. Of course if the child was yours you would have your own system dealing with them and not their mothers system. However I think it would still be hard.

Hello to all,
It is a dreary drizzly day here today and not much is going on. We might go to Victoria in a little while and pick up my glasses from Sears Optical. It was closed yesterday for some odd reason and DH says he needs to get a wax ring for the toilet at Lows, but he has not been sleeping well since the time change so he really has not decided if he wants to go or not. If not I will take the long way around to see Daddy tomorrow and pick them up on my way to see him and then go from Daddy's to Bunco. It will be a full day if I do that. Then on Thursday I will do laundry and pack to go to Cindy's in San Antonio until Monday. It seems like I never go anywhere but when I do plan to go some where that is when other things pop up that has to be done. That is ok with me, I like to do something other than just sit here at the house all of the time.

Mary Lou, sorry that your job search has not brought you any results yet. I hope that changes for you soon. The cake for your Hubby sounds wonderful to me. Happy Birthday to him..

Mary, I don't think you will wear out your welcome any time soon. Enjoy your time with her and the babies while you can. Once you leave her house it might be hard for you to go back and forth to see her. Do you have any kind of time frame as to how long you will be out? Or will that depend on the Orthopedic doctor. Have you gotten and appointment with one yet? I hope your tummy troubles are better today.

Kerry, sounds like you are feeling much better the last couple of days. I hope you continue to improve quickly.

Pat, prayers for Stephanie for a speedy recovery and I hope you are enjoying the baby in the meantime.
Well off to play Words With Friends.

Happy Hubby Birthday, Marylou. I'm off all week. I can't drive and can't go up the stairs. All my bedrooms and baths are upstairs so I'm stuck on Cherilyn's couch. If the doctor says I can 'bump' up the stairs at home I will go back on Sunday. If not, I hope I don't wear out my welcome.

Pat, I pray your dd is doing well and her surgery goes smoothly. hugs.

Mary, hope your knee is healing quickly, and the pain killer is helping you rest. Are you off for the rest of this week? It's nice you have your grandbabies to cheer you up.

Diana, I hope you are resting some. However I think you are very busy with your granddaughter. She sounds high energy and loving having her grandmother around. Try to sneak in some down time. I used to take a nap with my dd when she was a baby. Thanks for inquiring on my job search. It's not going well. I had a few bites, but nothing came of it. I'm working with the school down the street. I have an after school job for a few weeks.

Kerry, hope you are healing quickly and getting back to normal.

I'm off to the grocery store. My dh's birthday is today. We opted out on no presents until we are back on our feet. I'm baking him his favorite cake. He likes chocolate with peanut butter frosting. I found a recipe for the frosting on line. I sure hope it turns out, don't want to disappoint him.

Hi, friends. Thanks so much for your continued kindness and advice. I had severe intestinal upsets last night but seem to be fine today. I am not in pain, just some discomfort, so I will steer clear of the meds for now unless absolutely necessary. Both girls are napping and Cherilyn is on the treadmill. It's so nice to be able to just rest up. I do have lesson plans to send but will do that early afternoon.

Sandra, good for you and all your tests. I'm so glad this doctor has a sense of humor! Running into an old friend and having lunch together is great as is your shopping spree. i'm so glad you were able to have that fun time.

Pat, Stephanie is in my prayers for a successful surgery.

Kerry, do take it easy. When you go to the cable company or the store are YOU going in or letting your daughter or Larry? Just be SO careful! Says the one who is a Klutz...

I'll bet your granddaughter is giving you a run for your money Diana. Sorry about the bed wetting. You think she's missing her parents? I hope you are getting in your quilt/craft time, too.

I need to take a nap. All this laying around wears me out, lol!

Diana, hope you do get a nap in! I may need one, too.

It is still dark and cloudy here in NE Florida. I don't know if there is any rain or not-maybe I should look out the window when I next get up. lol We need to make another run to the cable office today-hopefully that girl gets up soon so we don't hit the lunch hour rush and yes, there is always a rush during the lunch break. Guess that's the only time folks can get down there. I would also like to get to the grocery store but will probably wait for Larry since he likes to go in, get what's on the list, and get out where Trish will quickly add an extra $50 to the bill for her 'wants'. Gotta stop at the bank, too, since I got my Christmas Club check-the last one unless there's another bank around that still does it.

Good morning ladies. Sorry I haven't posted. I've been very busy with my four year old granddaughter. Up during the night last night with wet bedding so of course I couldn't go right back to sleep. Now I must wash everything and I will need a nap today!

She is being very good but does want constant attention and play.

Miss you all. I will read posts and comment this evening if I'm still awake!

Marylou I've been thinking about you. Hope you are finding job opportunities.

Mary I can't believe you hurt yourself again. Hope you are managing.

Gotta run.

Hello to all,
I had my doctors appointment today and everything was fine. It was my primary doctor and I had to have blood drawn for my med refills. He laughted with me about me going to the ENT for my ears and ending up with a colonoscopy. He said at least we know you are healthy from top to bottom, pun intented. Now I need to get my boobs smashed then I should be good for another year. Unless something shows up on the labs but I don't expect it. After the appointment I went to Dairy Queen and had a taco salad and accidently ran into an old friend and had a good visit while we ate then I went to walmart and bought myself 3 long sleeve printed t-shirts and I bought myself some snacks that DH will not know about so he cannot complain about me eating them.

Pat, I think people talk about the bad surgeries because it is an unusual occurance, also because the are thoughtless of others feelings. I'm am sure that Stephanie will be good with a lot of prayers coming her way.

Mary, I'm glad your meds are helping you rest. Your pain meds will upset you on an empty stomach and they will also constipate you. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention.

Sue, there is a Golds gym that just opened in Victoria but l have never checked into the cost because it is to far for me to drive to.

Kerry, it sounds like you are healing well and getting around pretty good. Just be careful not to get over confident and hurt yourself. Let yourself recover.

Well it is getting late so I am going to go for tonight.
Sandra

Just a quick check in. I did call the Urgent Care Center. I haven't been assigned a case worker so I have no ortho doc appointment yet. They said maybe by the time I come on Wednesday. I sent in my lesson plans and will do the next day's tomorrow morning and get that off, too. Chris brought my papers to school, hooray! They liked meeting him!

KErry, it sounds like you are just getting better and better. So glad you can get around and going for a car ride!

Sue, nothing changes here colorwise til very late. I'm sure it's so nice to have all the different seasons. One day I'd still like to do New England in the fall.

Pat, I'm praying that all will go well with Stephanie tomorrow. I love the "Mr. Particular" comment, lol. Humor at all times!

My stomach is very upset, probably from the meds. I'm going to take it easy tonight. I hope I can watch a little tv. Don't want to go to bed too early but I'm getting good rest!

Pat, add my prayers for that surgery.
One of these days we will be taking down the bathroom mirror, too, but we'll take the drywall down and replace it all around and replace the vanity, too. One of these days. It will happen, I know it will. One of these days or years.....

Oh, I went out for a drive today. I rode with Trish down to the cable company to replace the box that died only to find out they are closed on Monday. We grabbed lunch on the way home.

This morning when I turned the tv on they said it was 55 but we were supposed to get up to 73 or so. It didn't feel too bad when I was out walking (about 5 houses up today) but it has been really windy all day.
Sue, I've never been in the Planet Fitness here nor the new Gold's Gym. Our Gold's was fairly small but that was back around 2000. I know the new ones are bigger. LA Fitness is pretty big-must have a couple dozen of each treadmill, bikes and stair climbers plus one aerobics room and one cycle room plus the swimming pool. The one thing people don't like is the locker rooms have no dressing rooms. Their price is actually lower than my old gym had been. I think their contract says you have to give 30 day notice but not sure.

Speaking of LA Fitness, the one a couple blocks from my house is due to open in December and the newspaper said Saturday that Panera Bread is building a restaurant there. That could be dangerous!!

I did all my exercises with the therapist today and have permission to use the cane in the house now except at night-walker for the night bathroom trips, etc and walker for anything outside. The nurse redressed the 'wound' and took a picture so I could see what it looks like. It looks like about 2 dozen staples real close together. There is a small amount of redness around the staples but otherwise very clean.

Mary, sure hope your lessons are with you and not in Austin. I also hope you can find something to keep from going stir crazy.

Donna, your friend deserved it since she hadn't done what she was supposed to. Hope you get a full night's sleep tonight.

Marylou, hope you're all doing okay..

Thanks for all your prayers and well wishes for Stephanie's surgery tomorrow.,I will update you all when I get home from the hospital.
Sue does the rec center have a indoor headed pool? I would choose that over a fancy gym. I see so many woman and men too who just come to the the y for the the water aerobics. I like the cardio and weights as an added exercise for me. It is also cold here today and cloudy.
Mary hope your son got the math papers to you today.
Well the house updating is never going to end. Today DH started tearing out the mirror in the main bath. Now I have some painting to do because behind the mirror is just Sheetrock. We are going to replace the old mirror with a new modern one, plus we are updating the lighting and going to replace the carpet floor with tile.
Time to go figure out how to cook the salmon for Mr. Particular so better google a receipe. Pat

Cold here in MD also. Scenery is rapidly changing from colorful Fall to drab Winter. Winds came through the other night and emptied the trees of their leaves. Pat, I need to find a gym. We don't have a Y and the country Rec facility nearby has a very small workout room, they specialize in swimming and water activities. LA Fitness, Gold's Gym and Planet Fitness are all nearby. Just hate to get involved in their contracts. Also, I'm sending best wishes on Stephanie's surgery.

Pat, the school sent me to an Urgent Care clinic where they have a Workman's Comp account set up. I am going back there to see the same doctor I saw on Friday...this Wednesday. I will call this afternoon to see if they have set me up an apppt. with an orthopedic surgeon. The order says a broken patella. So it's not shattered, I hope! I also hope they will give me much more info. They told me very little on Friday.

I hope Stephanie's surgery will go without a hitch. I will say some prayers for quick healing!

Good for you and all your exercise. You are so faithful!

Good morning. I am home from the Y and really don't have much going on this morning. I do need to get organized since I will be gone or busy all day the rest of the week. I have already talked to Stephanie and she had a decent night last night so that was good. Tomorrow is her surgery and she is a bit nervous about it. Then it doesn't help me any when a friend at the y told me about someone she knew who went in for a simple hernia surgery, ended up in a comma and almost died. Why do people always like to share horror stories right before someone you love is about to have surgery.
The y was completely torn up this morning. There were very few cardio machines and zero weight machines available. I got on the elliptical and went 6 miles, in about 75 minutes, then went into water aerobics for 75 minutes. Think I am good for the week since I can' tho again until next week. Hopefully they have the place put back together. They are replacing the flooring in the place.
Kerry I am glad your healing process is coming along. It must of felt encouraging when you got out of bed with out any trouble. And isn't it strange how some people just assume they know how to do stuff. Things sound simple enough until you actually have to do them. And counting money can be a nightmare.
Mary take it easy today and enjoy those babies. So when this first happened you just went to the ER but on Wednesday you will actually being going to a specialist? Do you know if the bone was cracked, or shattered? I did done research on broken kneecap and I will be hoping it was just cracked and it will heal quickly.
Donna I loved your whoops story. I think we all have at least one of those. It's not like she didn't have plenty of time to ask the woman. Hope you get all your stuff done today.
Guess I better go start lunch. Pat

Kerry and Pam, it was 52 here this morning...it felt good to snuggle under a big quilt----and I just now realized it was a quilt my grandmother gave me as a Confirmation gift in 4th grade! Awww...so I have a Quilt Connection to those of you who make them, lol!

Donna, I love making cards and once I can go upstairs again, I'd love to do it...would love to be doing it right now, but I'd have to be sitting down with my leg hanging....not in the cards right now. I love to read and I've played Words With Friends and Candy Crush all weekend....a guilty pleasure! And as soon as I hit 'post' I saw your oops story...I hope all the friends will take this lightly and that you will not be in trouble! They are all grownups, lol
.
Today I need to do more reconstruction of my lesson plans and send them to school. Chris was supposed to bring my math lessons for me. I sure hope he did that before going back to Austin! How awful if my week's papers were on their way there right now. I sent him an email early this morning.

i'm in very little pain today, hooray. Thanks for your prayers, sweet friends.

Ok, I am bored so I am going to tell you my oops story.
I belong to a small group of people that meet up once a month. Last month we couldn't decide what to do for NOV. We all were talking about how we want to see one of our group people's 44acre camp that her family has run for years. She wasn't present so " Betty" was going to ask her if we could see it in NOV and we would take her out to lunch. Well, Betty never did, But Betty did a mass email regarding some funny Halloween joke. I responded to it and then asked her if she had contacted our friend yet about seeing her property. Only I hit reply all so our friend saw that and responded. Well, Betty was mad that I stole her thunder. ha ha It was an honest mistake and if she had DONE it in the last 3 weeks, that wouldn't have happened. I did tell her what happened and asked her to officially ask her what we were thinking about.

Kerry: I am glad you are doing better. Hope you get back to normal movement soon and then have less pain than before the surgery.

Mary: This recovery is going to be a long one. Maybe you should start thinking about doing some sit down hobbies, like making cards. You like that don't you?

I had a bad night and am glad I have a minimal number of things to do today.

Pam, we are at freezing every morning now but it warms up to the 60's during the day.

ML How are things going?

Diana: Busy with the 4 yr old? How is it going ?

Pat: Back to babysitting tomorrow? I wish a speedy recovery for your DD tomorrow.

Sandy: Aren't you going into town today? I know you have a busy week.

I can't remember who I am missing. . . sorry.

Good morning. Good job getting your homework done, Mary! Pat, sorry you have a time with the time change. I don't usually though yesterday I wound up taking a nap about 5pm.

I did not go in to count money so Elaine had to work with two who had only one training session with us all and thought they had it all down pat. Well, it took them well over 3 hours. Oh well, you do have to learn by doing. Hopefully when I have to work with them they'll have caught on. My Sunday School job is nearly done-we do have a lady taking over for me so I will need to get her trained before long. That won't take long at all and I've already got two subs who know how to do it

I had to get up this morning about 6:15 to get my granddaughter up for school-I was awake anyway but I am ready for a nap now!! I would go lie down but the cable box in there died so I wouldn't be able to watch the show I want to watch. Doesn't sound like the way to nap but it does the trick for me. Physical therapy isn't coming until this afternoon and I haven't heard from the nurse yet. My getting out of bed this morning felt almost like normal which was nice. I am taking steps without the walker but usually just in those spaces where there is something else for me to lean on. If it doesn't warm up around here pretty soon I may need to find a sweatshirt to put on-looks like they are only forecasting 72 for a high. The house feels cooler than that-the low last night was in the 50's. That doesn't sound like it should be cold but 28 years in Florida means I feel the cold a lot sooner than I ever did before.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

We were the same yesterday, Pat. The babies have no time table so there was no sleeping later yesterday, lol. Cherilyn put them to bed at 7:45 and went to bed herself! I wasn't really ready and I tried to watch The Good Wife. But Grace started crying and Cherilyn brought her in the living room on the sofa. I didn't want to disturb them so I went to bed at 9:00. I took the Tylenol with Codeine generic med and slept really well!

I hope all goes well for all of you today. I have to reconstruct my lesson plans and submit them again but that's all on my agenda. Lazy Bum Day for me on the couch!!

Mary glad that you had a better day. I also hope you have a more restful night.
Kerry sounds like you are healing and getting some chores done.
My day was uneventful, I also took a short nap. Next week will be a busy one with all I have going on.
I always struggle with the fall back, because I got up at 5:30am and now I can't keep my eyes open. Hope everyone has a uneventful and safe week ahead. Pat

Spam is not why you got the Nook, Sandra!! I hope you can get that problem solved. I have too say I love most seafood. We had salmon tonight and it was wonderful..

I have had a good day. My 4th sister and her family came to visit, as did Chris. I got tomorrow's lesson palms done and emailed to the principal. Then I do it all over again tomorrow! I had a showr but it was hard to get into the shower. I will try to sit on a stool and pivot in tomorrow. Whomever said that necessity is the mother of invention was correct!

Off to bed soon with stronger meds!

Hello to all,
I washed the bed clothes this morning and I still need to remake the bed but other than that I am not doing much. DH decided at the last min. to barbecue so I am eating some popcorn to hold me until it is done. After all of the time I spent on the phone with the internet person yesterday I still am not getting my emails on the nook. I checked it and it said no mail but when I went to the computer I had 4 so something is still not working. I will not deal with it today and tomorrow I have a doctors appointment so maybe I will try to mess with it on Tuesday. It is so frustrating! I could maybe go to a Barns and Noble store when I go to San Antonio on Friday but I don't know if they could help with the internet problem. I really don't know if it is an internet problem or a Nook problem. The strangest part is that I received some spam but not the regular emails.
Mary, I do feel so sorry for you having to deal with your knee pain and it just shows how little a person realizes how important getting in and out of the shower is. I know you are being extra careful but it is still scary. The medical supply store can also rent you a shower chair that will help you get in and out of the shower and bath tub. So glad you can at least enjoy the babies more with your time off.
Kerry, sorry to hear that you are also having problems with pain. I'm sure using muscles you are not used to using can be painful. Any exercise can make me hurt somewhere I'm not usually aware of. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I forgot which side it is on. Will it affect your driving?
Pam, tex-mex is one of my all time favorite foods but different areas fix it differently so maybe you are getting Canadian tex-mex. Ha, ha. I don't like Jalapenos though and I have to be careful when I order that I remember to tell them that I don't want them. I must say that I am not a big fish eater either. Except for fried fish and shrimp I do not order it when I go out. I usually only eat fish that I cook myself and that is not too often except during Lent. Then it is either fried or canned tuna. I have ordered Salmon a few times and liked it.
Well off to make the bed.
Sandra

Good Sunday morning. I had a sort of rough night. I may take my heavier pain meds tonight just in case. Strange bed, not my own pillow, etc. But loving attention from my sweet daughter and loads of baby time! Great meds in all. I did take a shower, but it was soooo hard, even with it being a tiny step into it. The flooring is slate, as is the shower. I had a very difficult time undressing, getting the knee brace off, getting over the step---I was pretty tired by then and I hadn’t even gotten wet! Getting dressed again was an ordeal. So tomorrow will be a ‘bird bath!’ I can handle that better, I think. Chris will come later today and bring a few things I forgot. And my 4th sister and her husband are in Houston for the Renaissance Festival so they will be by today, too.

Kerry, I’m sorry your hip flexor is hurting. I’m now finding that I am putting a lot of stress in my OTHER knee from ‘pivoting’ so much. I need to go slower and be extremely careful when I move to the bathroom. I hope you can have a restful Sunday. At least you don’t have to go back to church to count the money!

Pat, baby withdrawal is tough! I’m getting in such quality time and am more in awe of Cherilyn (and any newish mom!) than ever. These babies never seem to sleep at the same time and she is still so calm with them. They are delightful to see playing together and I’m holding, feeding, etc. But I am worn out just watching all she does and it’s all day. I’m sure Stephanie and YOU know that routine now!

I’m so proud of you sticking with the project, Sandra. I hate trying to figure out that stuff and talking with someone over the phone doesn’t make it easier. Here’s to a quiet Sunday for you and enjoyment wth your Nook. My 4th sister emailed last night---she finally got her Nook to do email so you’re not alone in that.

Yes, Donna, I actually did laugh about that statement yesterday! Chris used it when he said that’s what I should have yelled to the teacher next door! Maybe next time…NOT! I resolve to be old and careful. Just call me Granny from here on out. No more multitasking.

Well, Howdy, Pam! Hope y’all had a Yee Haw time at the Texas Grille! I love Mexican food and never seem to get tired of it but if you’re not used to it you may not. Enchiladas, chili con queso (hot cheese over a puffy tortilla), guacamole…and margaritas, lol. I hope your former manager will heal well. My 2nd sister had one about 3 years ago at 57 and has been thrilled with her results. I don’t have a cast, just a Velcro brace. It’s very hard to undo and redo. Even Cherilyn had trouble with it. I hope I don’t have a cast next week. I haven’t seen an ortho doctor yet.
I will try for a short nap. Both babies are down now so I lied earlier, lol!

Mary

Thanks, guys, I did have a pretty good night's sleep. I got my breakfast fixed and Larry brought it to me then he headed to church. I read the paper and then actually sorted laundry. I used the grabber to pull everything out of the hamper and piled them up. Larry got the first load into the washer when he got home. I need to stitch up the sleeve on my nightgown-not sure why the thread came out. We had a big weather change yesterday-rain in the morning and then temperature drop with sunshine in the afternoon. That explains why all my joints started aching yesterday-they still ache today but I took a couple Aleve this morning so hopefully that won't last long. My friend who had her hip replaced a couple weeks before me has gotten permission to drive and is now having outpatient therapy so she is really excited.

Mary, hope you are feeling better today.
Pam, gotta love the cowboy hats. Okay, maybe not. Not sure I would want a restaurant full of them-they can be rather bulky in a crowded space like a restaurant. I do like Tex-Mex food though. Hope your old boss heals quickly.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

My boss at the grocery store (who is not very old btw) just had a hip replacement done yesterday morning. I'll go to the store tomorrow to see how things went. Ever since I've known him (the 10 years I've been in the village) his hip has been locked up solid. He walked with a "swing" and a limp because of it. I think the doctors didn't want to do a hip replacement until he was much older, but I doubt they could have waited too much longer, poor guy. I hope he recovers quickly because it's a lot of work in that store and he also has 4 children, the youngest being only 3.

We went out tonight to dinner in London at the Lone Star Texas Grill. It made me grin to see all the waiters in cowboy hats. This certainly ain't Texas around here. (Now in Calgary they dress like that..I think. LOL!) I let Leah choose the locale, but I must admit, Tex-Mex (mostly "Mex") isn't my favourite cuisine. But I can find something to eat on any menu, unless it's all fish of course - blech!

I hope our two invalids have a good night's sleep tonight and are feeling much better tomorrow. Mary, do you have a cast on your leg?

God bless,
Pam

I am so sorry this fall has happened Mary. I hope by now you are fairly settled at Cherilyn's. And Kerry sorry to hear you also are in pain. I hope everyone feels better tomorrow.

Stephanie has left after being here since Wednesday. I miss both her and Decklan already. It was a fun time but I have some sleep to catch up on. It is a good thing I get an extra hour tonight.

I will come back tomorrow and chat more. Pat

Kerry: I am sorry you are having a hard day. I would think with such a big surgery that you would have some ups and downs. Hope your muscle settles down soon.

Mary: Here is your motto: I've fallen and I can't get up!. LOL I know I am having fun at your expense. I hope you can laugh a little bit. It IS a tough situation that is compounded by living alone. Aren't you glad that your family is so supportive?? Just accept the help, you would do the same for them in a heartbeat.

Sandy: I am glad you stuck it out and got the Nook fixed. I'd be frustrated too.

I am back from my big hike. It was great. One of my friends was struggling with it but we slowed down and she was a trouper. It is so good to see the vistas when you get to the top. It is good exercise and I just love being one with nature. Now I have no problem resting for a while. These hikes with friends refreshes my soul.

Oh, Sandra, these computers and networks can be such a pain sometimes. Don't feel bad about tearing up-not hard to do when feeling so frustrated. Guys don't understand that because they just start yelling and swearing. I'm glad you got most of it all straightened out.

I think most of my pain today is caused by the hip flexor muscle-hope it hasn't been pulled too much but I can't do several of the exercises because of it. Sometimes just sitting is painful. Oh well, I did get a good nap in after I went in and lay down. emoticon

Hello to all,
Well with you Mary and you Kerry that is 2 down and how many to go?? I am making a joke but I know it is not really funny. I am so sorry for you both. I hope you get better real soon. Both of you are going through a very painful time. I am thinking good get well thoughts right now for you both.
I just spent the last hour and 20 min. trying to get my email address fixed. I was still getting all of my emails through the Hughes net address which we no longer have and I was not getting any emails through my nook. I finally told the girl that I must not be communicating with her very good because all of my contacts only had my new address now and she told me that "everyone" must be just hitting "reply" to be getting through. I told her that was not reasonable. At one point DH was telling me to "just hang up and get off of the phone" which I did not do and I even started to tear up and one point. (which made me feel really stupid). But finally she figured out something had not been switched over when the new internet was installed. She sent several test emails and I got them on both the computer and the nook so I do hope everything is ok now. Now I need to work on getting my contact list on the nook. But I think I might wait until another day for that. My brain is to fried to do it today..
Well I better get off of here and get some things done before we go to church this afternoon.

Sorry to hear about your fall. I'm glad someone was close by to hear your shout for help. It will be good to be at your daughter's though also a pain not having all your stuff where you can grab it. I sure hope you heal quickly and the pain stays at bay. I stick with the naproxen since the oxy makes me throw up.

Thank you for the card-I really appreciate it, especially since you do them yourself.

As my friend says "TAKE CARE OF YOU" !

Thanks, Marylou. I have Naproxin, and Oxycodone, which I don't think I need, at least right now. I slept fairly well and hope I can change my position on the couch today without too much pain. Moving is not fun. Chris will help me pack a bag for Cherilyn's. I hope he won't be too squeamish, lol. He did some laundry for me last night and took a picture to send to his gf!!

Oh Mary, how awful. You must have been in a tremendous amount of pain. Hope the doctor gave you some good pain killers to keep the pain down. Keep off the chairs. I know it is easy to say when they are so handy at school. I also have used them to hang something up out of reach. Rest, heal and good to hear you are with your dd for a few days. Hugs.

I made it through the night with less pain than I expected...mostly when I tried to move my leg In my sleep and paid for it with shock waves going through my knee! To top it off, my weekday school alarm has turned the radio on upstairs and it woke me at 5:30. I guess it isn't bothering Chris, though. We will pack a bag and go to Cherilyn's for brunch today. I will stay with her at least through Wednesday. My laptop, iPad, and phone will go with me along with the chargers...can't forget that!

I was waiting on two parents for a conference. I'd confirmed that they would be in my room at 1:10. By 1:20 I was really irritated since I had to get my kids from the library at 1:30 and the conference would be cut short. A paper had blown down from my cabinets ( I use my cabinet doors all around the top of my room to put up the kids' work) and I decided that I would put the paper back into place. I stood on a child's chair, about 18 inches off the floor. When I was getting down off the chair, somehow I fell and landed on my knee. It knocked the wind from me but I didn't realize how bad it was until I turned over to sit. My knee felt like it was hyperextended. It didn't match the left knee! I wasn't able to get up. I heard the Spanish teacher next door and started hollering her name. Once I got her attention she called in 'the troops' and I got help. The school secretary stayed with me at the ER until Cherilyn came. Greg was at my house when we got back and he helped get me inside. Chris came in around 7:00 and he's been great, too. This has just laid me low, friends. I didn't know I was THAT much of a klutz. I never felt this one coming, just like the ankle. I guess God wants me to NOT multitask!

Oh good grief Mary! Ouch! Your kneecap? Double OUCH!!! What an awful thing to happen - and just after you recovered from a broken ankle! You poor thing. (((hugs))) I have arthritis in my knee and that hurts badly enough sometimes. Just thinking about breaking it gives me the willies….shiver! I hope the doctor gave you some good painkillers. Did you fall during the school day with the kids there, or after they left? Keep your laptop/nook or whatever you use, close so you can keep talking to us.

Girls, I fell off a child's chair at school trying to rehang a picture. I broke my right kneecap and am in much pain. Cherilyn, Greg, and now Chris have been or are here so I'm not alone but it's been a terrible afternoon and evening. I need to get to sleep on the couch after making my way to the bathroom, up the step and whatever. I will go stay with Cherilyn tomorrow for a few days. She has a single level and bed/bath down which I don't. The doctor says no weight period on my knee and it really hurts.

Sandra, I keep getting that black banner, too. I did a couple of virus scans on my computer and I'm not seeing it now. I also need to get a malware scan on my computer.

We have cloudy skies today-guess that rain is sweeping in from the west. Austin looked terrible with the flooding-hope the rest of the country doesn't get it that bad.

I didn't sleep real well again last night, got up early, dressed and then took a nap. Trish managed to clean the kitchen for me without complaining and served us some soup that Larry had picked up from BJ's (Panera's broccoli cheddar). I've had my physical therapy, worked with the cane by walking 3 driveways down today but still have to leave it alone until he comes back on Monday. Right now I'm thinking about taking another nap before Cheyenne gets home from school.

Mary, I am really sorry you didn't get to enjoy your class party. That's a pretty awful job the mom did of being in charge! I know you won't be letting that happen again. I almost feel sorry for her kid. Some of the teachers at the elementary here just ask that any parents who can send in a box of snacks/cookies/drinks whenever they can so there is a supply for any event that comes up. I'm thinking that was really poor English there! Must be naptime.

I keep getting a message that this site is contaminated and could harm my computer. We have webroot for our antivirus. Don't know if I should continue or not.

Hello to all,
The weather is beautiful here today. We went to church and then picked up the new recliner and now we are not doing much.
Mary I am very surprised that the facility let the lady back in but maybe she is a private sitter and they do not have much control over that. But Pam is correct in that you can tell the administrator that you don't want her back in your mothers room for any reason. We did that with DH's mother over an Aid that she was afraid of. The Aid never came in her room again although she did still work there.
Kerry, the Dr. was from India and he didn't know that nurses still received caps because no one wears them at work anymore. He was thinking it was an "old custom". LOL I hope you are doing well and that you have a great weekend.
Mary Lou, sounds like it was a hard job you got involved in. Hope from now on it is easier.
