I only have a minute here.
Diana: When I went to see DD and GS's, we put them in school that Monday. They need the routine and we needed some quiet time for us. No guilt. And 10 days IS a long time.

ML: Do you think DH's boss was trying to tell him he appreciates all he does and is glad he is back because it wasn't HIS decision to decrease his pay and he feels bad about that?

My hike was good yesterday. I left the house at 6 and got home at 3 with a 3.5 hour hike. Stella and I could have done it faster but we had a pokey guy that we could not leave behind. All in all a good day and some ok pictures.

Sue thanks. Sometimes I wonder if I am a "bad" grandma for not wanting 10 days straight of a 4year old!

Marylou you can call anytime. I don't have much advice but I sure don't mind listening! You are a strong lady. Just cry and move on. You will find the best way for your family. Hugs my friend.

Diana, I totally agree with you plans while taking care of the grandaughter. Keep her schedule normal, enjoy your quite time while she's a preschool and do some "grandma fun" on her off times. Tire her out, early to bed and another relaxed day over. 10 days is a long time to entertain a 4 yr old by yourself, especially in someone elses home.

Diana, thank you for letting me bend your ear this morning. I'm trying to find a lawyer. My dh just switched us to Hulu plus. We also put up an antena for the local news. Thanks for all your help in getting me re-focused. I really needed someone to talk to today. Thank you! Hugs!

Kerry, I have you in my prayers today.

Kerry my first thought was DH was cleaning off the connectors NOT sawing on them! Never heard of that. I guess it won’t be your problem for the next few weeks! Today is the day right? We are all thinking of you and wishing you a quick recovery. At least you will get a good nap today!

Pam you did have a relaxing day. Must be your slow time for business. A whole book in a day. Sounds like me when I get started on my quilting! Enjoy the slow time while you can. Won’t you be shoveling snow again soon? LOL.

Marylou bless your heart. You have dropped a lot of weight. Stress will do that. I have to be MAJOR stressed to do that. Don’t get sick though. Your DH being positive is very sweet. He is trying to take care of his family and not worry you. That really was a very sweet gesture from the lady at McDonald’s. I’m so sorry you are going through this. It made me tear up to hear what Whitney did. You have a keeper there. You are absolutely right. Rob needs to not work any more overtime without pay! If that company he is working for works with his old company it sounds like anti trust laws are being violated. I really do think an hour with an attorney is a good idea. Call anytime you want to talk or cry my friend. Bob and I have saved on cable by getting Netflix and setting up our computer next to the tv. We have a cable from the computer and we watch all our shows. In fact we watch more shows than we used to. The worst part is news. It is always a day late but it is never good anyway!

Mary I will enjoy this week sewing and have about five days before going to GDs. I like going because I can go early in the morning and hit all the stores DH doesn’t want to go to before I get there! I want to go Halloween (the day before I need to be there) so I can see their costumes. DH is moving along on the plumbing. I am hopeful. I can’t believe the amount of work you have to do outside of your normal working hours!

Sandra I can’t believe you had to wrestle that bike yourself but good for you! You are moving toward healthy exercise. Baby steps

Sue I think I will be at DSs for about 10 days. Two weekends and a week. He said I didn’t have to take her to daycare….well, she is my sweetie but I don’t have the energy for a 4 year old for 10 days alone! I think during the week with mom and dad being gone she needs consistency anyway so I will take her to daycare and use the time to sew or go shopping. Then I will likely take her to the zoo or something on weekends. I know you will get those quilts done. What is your pattern? Sounds like you have a good plan for Sparking! Keep up the good work. I need to go look at your pictures.

Well, I am off to quilt for the day. I am grateful to have such good Spark friends.

Diana

MaryLou, this is the place. Vent away!! No rhymn nor reason for what happend to your DH's job. But for now, going back is what he feels he has to do. I wish him well and hopefully in tme life will even out again and happiness and security will settle back in.

Pam, we get few children here for Halloween. Probably what I have let in candy would be just fine. But I'm like you, even if I only get a few kids, I want to TREAT the kids with holiday fun. I love seeing the kids come. We have very few kids in our side of the neighborhood right now and most homes don't even turn their lights on. But my lights are on and my pumpkin is lit, if they come--I'm ready.

I'm sad today. Watched my dh go back to work. Just having a hard time understanding this twisted stupid path we are on. I will try not to be a downer. Just need a place to vent.

Bah, humbug, Pam!! If you're an old curmudgeon, so am I. I have so little patience with the mean things this boy does and on the other hand, when he's behaving himself (which he actually CAN do) he's funny and cute. But he and several others just wear me out on a daily basis. The sub yesterday is a seasoned veteran and she couldn't WAIT to leave. She wished me peace, lol, and went out the back door. I hope today will be okay. I'm still tired, lol.

My babies were good sleepers except for the middle one. Cherilyn says the girls have slept 12 hours for the last 3 days. I think they have worn themselves out----going through growth spurts, teething, and as you said they don't want to miss anything! I hope Landon settles down and Julie can get some sleep. It's not fun at all and there are many years left to deal with!!!

I will have dinner with my sister in law tonight then meet Cherilyn, Steven, and my friend Sally's daughter's afterwards at another restaurant to visit! I will be tired again, lol, but it will be nice to get together with both groups.

I slept soundly last night, woke up right before 5am and said a prayer for you, Kerry, then went back to sleep until the alarm went off at 5:30~ here's to a good day for everyone.

Oh Mary, that is so horrid about wild child….little brat…LOL) Why do I get the feeling that my grandson is going to be a wild child too? He is so active, sleeps very little, and screams bloody murder if you try and put him down to sleep when he doesn’t want to. He can be so tired his eyelids are closing, yet he’ll fight sleep with everything he has. Yesterday, Leah stopped in at their house on the way back from her friend’s house in Kitchener, and Julie was upstairs trying to put him down for a nap. Well he was screaming fit to be tied. Julie came downstairs with him and practically tossed him at Leah, and he immediately collapsed on her, and just smiled at everyone ... little bugger (excuse my language). You can tell he’s desperately tired, but if he thinks he is going to miss something, he will simply refuse to miss it, and that’s all there is to it. I’m so glad all my 3 were easy babies who didn’t argue about their naps. I’m not sure what I would have done had they behaved like this wee lad…LOL!

Kerry, are they trying to sterilize you before you get to the hospital? I have never heard of all these techniques before surgery. But hopefully everything will turn out okay for you. We’ll all be praying for a great outcome. Just loosen your shoelaces and use your long shoehorn to slip them on. That should do it, without having to go out and spend another fortune on shoes. We’ll all be thinking of you tomorrow! ((hugs))

Sandra, I’m glad you are able to post now and that you have it figured out. emoticon

Sue, I agree with you. It has been a long time since I’ve been anywhere near an 8 year old boy…LOL! Even my own big kids (and me too) had great fun with the earlier Harry Potter movies…not so much the later ones. And – I haven’t gone anywhere near the bathroom scales for well over a week. I’m tired of them – I’m tired of worrying about my food – I’m tired of worrying about my waistline – I’m just tired of the whole shebang. emoticon

I guess I should go out and buy some candy for Halloween. Although last year, we had about 6 kids - almost not worth it, but I don’t want even 6 kids to come to the door with me having nothing to offer them. I usually turn off the porch lights at around 8:30 anyway. We live at a “crossroads” in the village, where there are very few houses. All the kids tend to go down the long residential streets. They only pass our house if they use the short-cut to get to the other part of the village.

Oops, I copied over my message from Word and hit Post Message without a sign off. LOL!

Bye for now and will chat again tomorrow. I just re-read my post and decided I sound decidedly like an old curmudgeon. I must be getting old and cranky....LOL

God bless,
Pam

I know I promised to come back and reply to everyone but I lied. I had a good day with conferences but I am just tuckered out...sort of like the babies at the pumpkin patch, lol. I have answered school and personal emails that needed to be dealt with, phone calls, and such. I am so glad to be home and am not doing any school work. But I just want to veg and go to bed early. I did get many compliments today and all parents thanked me for knowing their children so well. Score one for Mary. My sub told me she had NO idea how I came back day after day...Wild Child choked a classmate in library and proceeded to argue that another child 'made' him do it. After I got back to the classroom he asked me if he got a sticker for the day. Oh, deliver me!!!!!

emoticon that stress and weight go hand and hand. I've had 2 calls this afternoon from the Dr office. The first one said to be at the hospital at 5:30 and the second one said to scratch that and be there by 5am. Guess that should put me first on the schedule and also that I will have to be doing that medicated shower at about 3:30 AM. So much for any sleep tonight!

I'm not getting on the scales this week. My stress level is way up and so isn't my weight. The two seem to go hand in hand.

Sue, I haven't opened any yet but that doesn't mean I haven't thought about it. I want to get another bag or two-something with suckers or lollipops for the little ones. I did however open a bag of potato chips but only ate a serving of those. I like your pictures-looks and sounds like you have had a great time.

Sandra, thanks. I'm glad your posting worked well. I guess I didn't look at the start page today-I just normally go right through my email notices.

I never got out this morning so I didn't get anything done I wanted to get done. I'm hoping Larry will go with me. I was looking through all the hospital info and it says I need regular workout shoes but need elastic laces so I guess I need to go find those. I was hoping to get away with just the slip ons-they are closed toes but I would worry about keeping them on my feet. Oh who knows. I did finally get the call about arrival time-just about two seconds after I hung up from getting Sunday School supplies ordered. I decided to get the one room Sunday School material since the teacher keeps complaining that the stuff is too hard for the one little one but she can't make the older kids suffer with simple stuff. I also only need to order one and the teacher can make copies depending on how many kids she has. Hmmm...bet she won't like that but I won't be in this job much longer-just until the new year. Now, back to the hospital. I was told I need to arrive at 5:30am so I must be an early patient. That will work out with Larry just fine since he is normally at work at that time of day. I was told to expect a call from the Dr himself this evening. Oh lordy, guess that means we have to go right out to shop so I'll be home before he gets to me or I'll have to wait until after he's called. OR I can just go with the slip on shoes I have. Guess I could do ilke Larry-use my regular workout shoes and tie them really really loosely so I can slip them on and off. I may try that this afternoon. Better go finish laundry.

While my grandson was here over the weekend WE came across my Halloween Candy stash. There is no holding me back now, the bags have been opened and sampled. Needed to make sure they were fresh enough to give to kids. No doubt about it, it's goooood candy. Too bad I'm going to have to buy anothe bag before Oct 31.

Hello to all,
Wow, such a new start page. Maybe they revamped the system and this post will go through. If it doesn't I am going to delete the site and start over on it.
It is a very dreary day here but a front is expected tonight and it should bring some rain and clear cool weather tomorrow and for a few days.
I have thought many times about making my own laundry soap but I was afraid if I did not like it I would have so much to use up to keep from wasting it. I watched the show 19 kids and counting, years ago making it and I was impressed way back then. I love that show and the Duggar family along with the Bates family. They are very impressive. They have such a big family but do not live off of the government in any way.
I am not doing very well with my dieting again. That is not new for me. I just can't seem to get my head in the game. I did ride my exercise bike yesterday though. I will today also.
Well before I type anymore I am going to see if this will go through.

Pam to an 8 yr old boy, Harry Potter and Star Wars are his world. That was the most exciting part of his whole trip. No different than seeing Dorothy's Ruby Slipper, Kermit the Frog or Julia Child's Kitchen. Part of American life, different stages for different ages. Unlike my growing up days of seeing every free museum, man doesn't not live by cannon balls alone. Wonderful things to see in our American History Museum.

Just popping in quickly to say I loved your pics Sue. But I had to laugh. Since when did Harry Potter have ANYTHING to do with American history? Or anyone's history, come to that...LOL!

Donna, I hope you hike goes well. I can only imagine how beautiful the scenery will be. I'll post a couple pic from my Skyline Drive trip, you mountains will look totally different. I love the west. You are right, there are many low cost hints out there. It's also amazing how much "stuff" we can do without if you really have too. Shopping has become way to easy for all of us. Maybe this is a warning to all of us that we need to cut back.

MaryLou, we had a short but busy trip of many parts. First we went to NY/Binghamton for 3 days for my high school reunion, then back home to repack and head to VA Beach for 2 nights, a stay in Williamsburg, VA for one night, home again to repack and pick up Grandson #6. We drove south on I-81 as far as Staunton, VA and drove back up Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park with a stop at Luray Caverns along the way. Back home on Friday night and Saturday, thanks to the gov't re-opening, we headed to DC on the Metro and spend the day at the American History museum. It was a busy week and weekend for all of us. Now it's time to rest and catch up. It will take me a couple days to catch up, but I will post a few pictures. Also best wishes to your husband on returning to the job he was terminiated from. I admire his courage to face adverse conditions and determination to make the job work and keep his employment entact. You have a long road ahead of you, but it sounds like you are a strong couple and family and you will make it work.

Mary, I hope confereneces go well. No picky, whining parents. Just give it to them straight and show them the door.

Pat, are you in babyland this week?

Good morning! I am still waiting for a phone call telling me exactly when my surgery is tomorrow. Hope they call soon so I can get about getting other things done. The surgery is a total left hip replacement and yes, I've been considering a high rise toilet for a long time but we haven't felt like replacing a perfectly good toilet. lol The Dr office/hospital does require the 3 in 1 commode with hip replacements because it allows you to push straight up when standing without leaning forward. So much to look forward to. I do try to keep on moving though I have not exercised at all in the last week. Right now I need to get up and move just because the hip doesn't feel like it's sitting right and hurts! I got up and dressed this morning to walk my granddaughter to the bus stop or drive her but she told me she would just walk by herself so I could stay home. She even packed her own lunch. What a kid!

Marylou-it has to be rough going back after they gave you a pink slip but as you said, it's better than being unemployed. I would tell them both to do the best work they can while they keep looking for something better. Maybe there is something else they would rather do and it's just out there waiting for them. You never know. Good job on cutting expenses. I know most everyone probably needs to do that unemployed or not!
Donna-hope your hike is wonderful and you don't meet up with any falling trees!
Mary, have a wonderful day at school.
Everyone else just have a wonderful day!!

I too am just breezing by. Today is the big hike that I am leading. I used to say, I felt like I died and went to heaven it is so beautiful in this canyon in the fall. However, a hiker was killed by a falling tree on THursday so I will watch what I say!!! What are the chances, huh? The group meets at 6:30 since it is a 1.5 hour drive to get there and parking is at a minimum.

ML: Isn't it so uplifting to see where the help comes from? I have experienced the same type of kindness in my darkest hours and it came from the most unexpected people. Just pay it forward in a different form some day when you are back on your feet. Is your DH taking his job back at a lower rate of pay? If so, that is despicable and he need to find something else. In the long run he will feel unvalued but he is stepping up and doing what he has to for now.

Sue: You are still so focused on your wt. loss. Good for you. I have slipped since going to CA. I think I am just not in the mood or care right now. I am struggling with the divorce papers being final this week and as hard as I try, it is not easy to just gloss over it.

Kerry: Good luck with your surgery on your hip. Have you considered a high rise toilet. I put my own in and I love it. But maybe you need the arms to push up with on your apparatus. .

Eating cheaply is doable if you plan ahead and change your usual eating habits.

Pat: What are your plans for this week?

Diana: Enjoy your GD this week.

Mary: Did you get caught up on your rest? I saw some really cute pics of the twins for Halloween. just think next year they will be toddling all over in their costumes.

Pam: It sounds like you are socializing more recently. And you sound happier.

Sandy: Are you enjoying your nook?
Tomorrow is my big hike. I can't wait. Hope the colors are as good as before.

Wow, I'm so far behind I'll never get caught up.

First let me say to MaryLou, how sorry I am to hear about your husband's job terminiation. I hate what the government did, they should be the ones losing their jobs. I will keep you all in my prayers and hope your husband finds another job soon.

Mary, Chris is right, stick with WW and the gym. You get a lot of encouragement both places and it keeps you active. I need to get back into something. I need one of you sparklers to come hold my hand and drag me there. I hate exercising and walking alone.

Kerry, again I missed this, when is your surgery? For what - hip? knees? You amaze me with all you do and how active you are. You certainly haven't let this sore joints hold you down. Best wishes and I hope you have a successful and speedy recovery.

Pat, have you gone back or will you go back to your daughter's this week? I'm sure Decklan enjoys every minute with you. How is Jerry taking to this new little guy?

Diana, I need to get crackin on these quilts if I expect to be done by Christmas. I don't do well with fine needlework like applique. I don't have the dextarity or patience. Blanket stitch and blind hem are about the extent of my handwork. How long will you be at your son's?

Pam, how is Little Boy Blue doing. I just love the picture of him. Such a good natured little boy. I also envy your small town life. I'd love to be out of the this suburban traffic jam. I'm ready for a calmer way of life. "Green Acres is the place for me." I don't know about farm life, but certainly small town life would be nice.

Ok, I have 3 things I plan to do this week. 1) manage my food intake. 2) pull out and use my walking DVDs, 3) check in everyday with my Sparkfriends. I've missed you all. I've really felt out of the loop. - s

Marylou, I get the local grocery store flyer in my mailbox every Thursday. I check out what's on sale that I can or do use and work my meals around it. Now because the store isn't very large, I go to the grocery store in town for things as well, but I very rarely pay full price for anything. Wait for the baked beans or the tuna, or whatever! to go on sale, and buy them and make your meals from them. I can honestly say that the worst thing you can do to waste money is to buy stuff in boxes. Buy the ingredients and make your meals from scratch. Much cheaper and healthier too (and more fun - you and Whitney can have fun in the kitchen while doing supper).

If you need any "household" recipes (laundry detergent, softener, all kinds of stuff) let me know. I'm the queen of cheap! LOL!

God bless,
Pam

Marylou, you do have a great daughter. Most often kids think of themselves first but she thinks of her entire family. You have raised her well. As for the coupons, we didn't need any of them and wouldn't use them so I gave them away. It wasn't a restaurant we go to very often. I always sit down with the grocery ads and see who has the best deals on what and since they are all within a mile or two of each other it's not difficult to hit two or three for their specials. Casseroles were born when times and money were tight. Pasta with lots of veggies and a can of soup can make a small amount of meat go a long way. I also like the breakfast for dinner especially the breakfast casseroles.

I have to spend tomorrow organizing, getting some more shopping done but also waiting for the phone call to tell me exactly when my surgery is. Only two more nights and one morning of this sanitizing thing which I need to get in and do. I need to get the medical stuff out of the garage-walker and 3 in1 for the bathroom which is one thing that drives my husband crazy. He hates having it sit over the toilet so he moves t to the shower when he's in the bathroom-I keep telling him it would be less of a hassle if he just used it like the regular toilet but that doesn't work for him. Wonder what he'll do if/when he has surgery!! After seeing me go through all this I don't think he'll be doing that anytime soon.

The money counting went quite well with just Charles and myself. Larry and Larry were in another room counting the pumpkin money and only came in to make copies of the checks they had gotten. My Larry then waited until we were done copying so we could drop the money at the banks. The pumpkin patch brought in nearly double what the church itself got today. I don't know where everyone was but it wasn't in church. Okay, I need to go get that sanitizing shower now before I fall asleep again!

Your sweet Whitney is a prize for sure, Marylou! Look for local specials around town and I'll bet you can plan easy meals for less. Breakfast casseroles will feed about 6-8 and just scrambled egg omelettes with leftover veggies will be a filling dinner! Good luck with your hunt for culinary success!

Kerry, I must have looked greedy. I kept all the coupons in my haste to leave. Oh well, I will be more thoughtful in the future, now that I know how it lifted me up.

Thank you Sandra for the prayers and hugs! I will take all I can get. :) I'm so lucky to have this wonderful board of Spark sisters to keep my spirits up. My DH is going back to his old job hopefully on Tuesday, but with a heavy heart. He is doing what he needs to do to keep us a float. In the mean time he is searching for a new position.

Mary, we were just discussing where to shop. Kroger is where I will be tomorrow. I have been there a few times....it's further away then our normal shopping place. I like your suggestions on breakfast dinners. We love breakfast food, a definite good plan for future meals. We got caught up with a relaxing movie today, looks like I will be putting my list together in the morning.

My dd is out and about with her boyfriend. The State fair is in town, but they decided to not go. They are enjoying a walk window shopping at our local mall. She is such a thoughtful child. My dh was checking his wallet for our health benefit cards, and discovered three dollars stuffed all wrinkled up. When I asked her if she put money in her father's wallet, she just smiled sheepishly like she had a secret. She wouldn't admit it, but I know she did it. :) She really makes me so proud. Bragging girls, makes me feel better. :)

Kerry, I was just commenting that a cleaning service was exactly what you need and giving your hubby 'props' for taking on the laundry! I hope the money counting will go without a hitch.

Sandra, I don't know why you can't get your posts to post. Keep doing short ones and we can see what's going on with you.

Marylou, my daughter and her husband plan their meals by what's on sale. Kroger and HEB have 'meal deals' and that gives extra goodies if you buy certain things. Breakfast suppers are easy and less expensive. I'm sure you know all this but sometimes just bringing out suggestions will give you a different idea for something you used to do! I hope it will end up with a great job/benefits, etc. for both of you. You are strong and have much love and that will serve you both during this stressful time.

Dinner with Cari's family was really nice but her dad has had complications with knee surgery and isn't feeling well. He stayed in his room until time for the birthday celebration. The Vietnamese food was fabulous as always and they sent me home with enough leftovers for days! Yum!

I am halfway through with my reports. Then I have to organize the portfolio papers to give to the parents. So much to do and I want a nap, lol. I woke up earlier than I had planned and feel tired. I've chatted with my mother and hope my evening will end with an early bedtime.

I am very confused with this site. I typed another long response on the computer and it would not let me post again. I am going to try on my nook now so it will be a shorter message since I can't type as well on it.
Mary Lou, I'm sending you hugs and prayers that your DH gets an even better job soon.
I got my exersize bike in the house finally. I had to bring it in myself. DH said he would but never did. It was hard for me to get it up and down the three steps but I finally made it. I rode the first time for 15 minuets.
Going to try to post this before I lose it.

Hi! We're home from church, have had lunch and read the paper so now we are each on our own computer. We will both be heading back to church for some money counting. He and another guy will be doing the pumpkin patch money for the week and I'll be helping with the regular stuff. I didn't sleep well so today is just going to be a pretty lazy day.

ML-it's always nice when people share coupons and those prayers do come in handy! I know. One time my daughter and I sat down in a BBQ place and some man walked over and set some coupons on our table so when we picked out what we wanted and someone else was seated, I passed the rest on to her.

Drats, I can't remember what you said, Mary. Guess I will check back again when we get back home.

Kerry, hooray for your husband getting a start on his ‘job-to-be!’ I’m with the others…call a cleaning service to do a big clean up now, then have them come once a week until you’re back on your feet. That way your husband can keep up with the laundry and pick up daily things and you don’t have to worry about it. Make a list of what you want them to do. Peace of mind is important to your recovery! And you won’t be able to bend down for a while, nor lift heavy things.

Diana, I love your project ideas for sewing. You’re always busy! I hope the trip to the grandchildren’s house will leave you with some time to rest. Maybe when you get back all the plumbing will be fixed!! It does sound like you have thought of all you should/could want in your house.

Pam, how cute and convenient to ‘pop around the corner’ for a few things…you ARE close to that little store, aren’t you?! I made tacos last night with shredded chicken and tortillas and really enjoyed them. I think I’ll use the rest of the chicken in soup this week. I’m trying to branch out from my usual dull dinners or grabbing something! Reading a book and being cozy all day sounds just wonderful! Maybe next weekend!

I did a bunch of my reports last night. There are some that I will really have to be careful in how I state things….I hate having to dance around the issues. I have church in a while, then lunch with Greg’s inlaws. Then it’s back to work!

Happy Sunday…

Marylou, we were posting at the same time. How wonderful that the woman gave you the coupon and had just the right words and prayers for you to feel at peace in the midst of this hard time! God does work through others! Congrats on your 11 pound loss...it's a hard way to lose it, though. Keeping healthy when you feel overwhelmed is so hard. Both you and your husband need to be careful, okay? Your immune system can play tricks on you at times of stress. Hugs for today!!

Good Saturday night Ladies!

I guess we all must be getting old. Whatever happened to the Saturday nights of our youth? I couldn't manage one of those now if I tried. LOL!

Well, I had a very relaxing day. I got up late (almost 10am!), made coffee, and curled up with a book the whole day. Read it from start to finish! I did stop and wander around the corner to the store for some stuff for supper (all of 150 feet away...LOL). Then I made supper for just the two of us (Leah is visiting a friend in Kitchener overnight). Then we watched a 2 hour Netflix documentary on telly, then he sat to watch one of his shows and I came upstairs. How's that for a relaxing day? LOL!

Everyone have a good night, and we'll chat more tomorrow. emoticon

God bless,
Pam

My husband determined it wasn't the battery but the connector. He said he was going to see what he could find so I went back inside. I went out a bit later and discovered he was sawing through the connector and then gluing pieces together. Oh lordy but it did start when he got it all together. Hope it lasts for a LONG time! After his shower he actually took all the towels, underwear and socks and got that laundry started. Must be getting ready for the next few weeks! Now I need to finish up my sparking and head to bed.

Mary I am going to be doing some appliqué while at my DSs. I have a couple of wallhangings to do. One is a Christmas tree and one is dresses on dress forms. I am also making some Mr and Mrs silhouette pillows. Sometimes I take a break from big quilts. It is good you are back to where you were! It is all down now! Your son is very wise.

Donna I am sure you are enjoying your day. I don’t know if you are going to have a chance to check in with all you have to do!

Sue you are right. That is not a bad gain for all the traveling you have been doing. Get back on and it will come off this week I bet. Boy you got back and jumped into the grandma role right away. Have fun at the museum.

Kerry I bet you will get a little relaxing, reading or tv watching done. You can point your finger at the cleaning people. I tell you my arthritis hurt in my hands so bad this morning I could hardly vacuum! I may have to call a cleaning person myself sooner than I thought! Sorry about your car battery. I try to keep good tires and a good battery and oil change. Keeps me from breaking down. Those batteries are so expensive though.

Well, I have been a cleaning fool today and yesterday. Bob has been working on the little house. He has been doing the necessary plumbing which to me is a biggie. After that we can start closing up walls etc. I think he will get enthused more as things start coming together. We checked out our corner toilet and vanity and tub to see how much room in the master and we will have a good space for as small as it is. The corner toilet helps and the vanity looks like furniture with a round top and it is fairly small. The linen closet will be built into the wall to keep from taking up floor space. I think we have thought of everything!
Well, I have more to do before I make dinner.

Sandra, I don't know what is going on but I often get a page that says I'm not or my computer is not authorized to see "that' page. It's usually when I click on the email link to a post. Who knows?!

Mary, good for your son. I have a friend at church who decided that she and her husband were doing WW just fine as she had lost a lot of weight so to save money she quit. Her husband kept doing most of the cooking but she isn't as careful and has started gaining weight back which she does every time she quits according to her sister. I know how easy it is to mess up when a program is stopped. You'll be at goal before you know it and then it won't cost you anything to check in to stay on track.

I went down to church to keep hubby company in the pumpkin patch. There were 4 youth there including our grandson and the minister's wife who is mom to one of the youth. They were busy picking up and tossing rotten pumpkins into a truck. They are then taken down to a member's farm for his cows. Never thought about cows eating pumpkin but they love it. I spent some time taking small pumpkins out of the big boxes they were delivered in and stacking them on the tables. It should have been done the day they arrived because that box is about 4' tall and filled to the top which means the pumpkins on the bottom are being squashed. Man do they stink. I didn't get very far but couldn't just sit there. I also wanted a taco for lunch and Taco Bell is right across the street so I offered to pick up a box for the youth. The oldest kid who is kind of an assistant leader said "or a big old thing of chicken nuggets from McDonalds" so I decided I would just get both. I didn't know the nuggets were $4.99 for 20 or I would have just gotten 2 of them but anyway, I went back to the car and guess what was dead? emoticon Yep, my car battery. I called the house and told Trish where I was knowing she had to be at work by 2 and told her to tell her dad whenever he got home. It wasn't maybe 10 min before he showed up to jump start the car. I drove home and he took the nuggets, got some tacos and took all that to church and then got to drive Trish to work. Luckily she is planning to get a ride home so I don't have to get her at 11pm. That's my day so far. Just have to get another load of laundry done and that's it.

I'm not typing in Word, just saying a quick hello before I run out again. Hooray...I decided NOT to go to the 7am WW, but I slept til 7:30-----such a rare event! I went to the 8:30 WW and have lost 2 pounds. So I'm back where I was 4 months ago, deep sigh. Now to go the OTHER way!

I'm back from water aerobics and need to dry my hair. I'm getting it cut in a few minutes and because of the color it needs to be dry! I paid expensive bills this morning but decided to go ahead and drop down 2 plans for my health insurance. I sent that notice off. I need to have it to them by next Friday and was afraid if it didn't arrive in time I would be paying over $900 a month. My FEMA flood insurance is going up by about $75 and my area doesn't flood....it's all a racket!!! My sweet younger son convinced me not to drop out of WW until I reach my goal and not to quit the gym. He said those things are important to my overall health and I should take care of myself! So we'll see. I'll stick with it at least til the beginning of the new year. Then I'll reevaluate.

So much to do on the conference forms tonight and tomorrow plus church and dinner with Greg's inlaws.

Hugs to all,
Mary

Hello to all,
I have tried many times to post the reply that I copied yesterday and it will not go through. It keeps saying "no connection to html" but the short reply went through. That is kind of creepy. It has to be the SP site because everything else works fine. I was able to send a message last night through my tablet but not here and they are both hooked to the same wifi.

Hi! Just a quick note as I need to head off to the pumpkin patch. One of the adults didn't make it for the morning shift so my husband got volunteered since he was already there and he wants some company since he's never actually done it before. We'll have several members of the youth group out there to do the lifting and all that good stuff. I've got laundry started-gosh don't know what I'll do for the next several weeks when I can't get clothes out of the hamper or dryer or dishes into and out of the dishwasher. Oh what shall I do?!?! emoticon I am seriously going to call a cleaning service that was recommended by a friend who has tried several different companies and get some help around here even if it's only for the kitchen and bathrooms.

Loved the picture of your family, Mary!! Don't know whether I should say sorry or not for missing most of the food. emoticon

Well, I'm back after a week of eating out. I stepped on the scales last night and was pleased to see I had only gain 2.5 lbs. Not bad and nothing that a few days of fruits, veggies and lots of water can't correct.

It's going to take me a week to reread the posts of the past week and get caught up. It looks like there has been a lot going on. That job will have to wait until tomorrow. I have a grandson here and we are headed out to the American History Museum. I sure am glad the FEDS are back to work and everything has reopened. It sure helped make this a great weekend of Grandson Brady. - s

Hello to all,
I wrote a long message on the computer around dinner time and it wouldn't post. It kept saying it couldn't connect with the htm or htl or something like that. I copied and pasted it to my microsoft word do I would not lose it and tried to send it again about an hour ago and it still would not post. So if this goes through I will just tell you all that I will reply to everyone again tomorrow.(hopefully).

"All in good time....and with the help of my friends"

Diana: You sound very busy. I am glad your table dinner thing was a hit, well except the food.

Mary: I am with you. I am home and in bed with the TV on. AAAAAAAH! The coffee house thing was just ok. I recognize several of the ladies from church. The problem is, I am not very active in the church and these are the powerhouse, hold seats like president of the something or other ladies or the secretary of the church and they interact with each other all the time. I am not up on all the church gossip so just not the right place for me. Besides, I broke a tooth off at the gum line eating a taco there. I don't know when I will have time to go to the dentist. This weekend including Monday is jam packed.

Tomorrow I work from 6:30 to 10:30. Then I meet my friends at 11 for a stroll and lunch on the lake. Then home for a couple of hours and then to the movies with my widower friend. Somewhere in there I am dog sitting for the kids. I have her usually anyway on the weekends so it is no big deal.

Sunday I will go to church and then clean house, do laundry, and shopping and errands.
Monday I meet the hiking group at 6:30 am and will get home about 2 maybe. Then I usually take a pain pill and rest for a few hours.

Dentist? Not sure where to slip that in.

I have no idea if the full moon makes you heavier but that is as good excuse as any. It's kinda like that saying posted on FB that according to he BMI chart I am too short. Works for me.
