I never woke from chemo. To ER for 6 hrs then admitted to Hosp. Will be here tonight. Now it’s between palliative care or chemo. They think the reaction was due to the opioids that I had as pain pills. So they are letting those clear my system in a day or so to see where I go next. Such decisions! Since it’s spread to liver, a major organ, I am considered terminal. Prayers welcome!

Pam: If you look online at pictures of houses for sale, at least in my area, there is nothing on the counters. I have wall art up but no family pictures. The less clutter the bigger the house seems. The same with furniture and closets. If your clothes are jammed in there it looks small and crowded. Your hangers should be very evenly spaced and very few of them. Tricks of the trade. I have made 10 trips to Good Will so far.
I am excited because I have solved all my backyard issues so it should look great for the pictures. Even the hole in the lawn looks good. I was able to buy pieces of sod to fill in the holes. I wish I could have flowers but Emma will pull them out so the yard at least looks nice and neat. All I have left is to spread the 2 tons of decomposed granite and also the wood chips.

Evenin' gals.

Donna, are you serious? Take down your pictures? Put everything away out of sight? I'd tell her where to go and when to go there. When I look at a house, it's the "homey" touches that make it look like a home, even though I know they won't stay there. I'd ignore that bit, and just make it look clean and tidy, not sterile! I'll bet everything in her house is white.

Pat, I'm sorry you had a fall too. My goodness, we are getting clumsy in our old age, eh? LOL! I don't know who went shopping but it wasn't me. I still haven't been anywhere except to Leah's place in Woodstock to see her and Ainsley.

Kerry, it sounds like Larry is slowly (or quickly) killing himself if all he eats is fast food. No wonder he has put on so much extra weight. He needs to start eating properly and lose some of it. It will certainly help his breathing too, as well as his overall health.

Rita, I have been praying for you. I hope your chemo wasn't too gruelling. (((hugs))) When you feel up to it, please pop in and let us know how you are.

Mary. Not moving in one month but putting the house on the market. Realtor wants it “pristeen” for pics. That means personal pictures down, no appliances or salt and pepper shakers on the counter, no trailing ivy plants . Etc. They will also take a pic of the garage so that also has to be perfect. My house has nothing special to offer so I have to make it look great

Oh, Pat, I'm so sorry about your fall. I hope you'll be okay. I remember when I fell last summer try8ing to catch Emmaline as she fell from the top of the slide. I was bruised and hurting for more than a week!

Donna, you are always on the go. i guess you'll get everything done , but wow, that's a lot to do in a short period of time! You aren't planning on moving in the next month or so, are you? Hope you will not overdo it!

I had a delightful day with Cherilyn and the girls. The Teacher Appreciation money was well spent! They had 2 different cute twirly sprinkler things....don't know what you call them. They did a great job of watering the yard, too, so double duty, lol! Each girl got a new beach towel, cute sunglasses, coloring books, etc. and we got McDonald's Happy Meals for them for lunch. Emmaline took a nap and Cherilyn and I got out and returned a few things to Kohl's and a package to Amazon via UPS. I just now got home and my yard crew was finishing up. I'm done for now! More bad weather is on the way!

Rita, still praying for you!

Larry has COPD, one heart stint. The doctors say he is doing well but has put on a lot of weight recently do he's huffing and puffing. He's getting a lot of work done on and in the house but not doing any of the physical work. And no more driving vacations😞

Wow Donna what a long to do list you have. I hope you get some rest between some of those activities.
I learned something new today, you can wallpaper a concrete wall, lol I will explain later and sent pictures.
Mary ain’t know you are enjoying those granddaughters!
Sue I have my new desk all set up downstairs but then usually carry my laptop upstairs, lol. But when I need to print something I have a nice place to go.
Kerry you said you were worried about Larry sleeping too much, is he OK?
Pam how did the shopping trip go? Even though you don't go out shopping a lot, I bet it felt good getting out again. And I also bet you bought something for the new grand baby, lol.
Rita we are praying for you and thinking about you and hoping the treatments are going as good as possible. You probably won't have much energy but hopefully you can still read our posts.
Well I am a bit sore today from an ugly fall I took yesterday. But we just got back from a 2 mile walk so all parts seem to be OK. Luckily my chest took the brunt of the fall and I have a very large bruise there. Just glad it was not worse.
Well back to fixing up my cubby hole, where I have my sewing machine.

Kerry: Make that appointment. They might be backed up since they may just be opening up.

Rita: We are all thinking of you collectively. Hope yesterday went ok.

I have been up about an hour in the middle of the night almost every night. Last night I slept soundly and still woke up exhausted. I have limited myself to inside work to slow my roll a little.I need to rest up a little for tomorrow. So much going on.
My virtual appointment was changed to a regular appointment tomorrow so now I am going to work an hour late. I can not stay late at work because I have 2 tons of decomposed granite being dumped in my driveway at noon. Renee is coming at 1 to help me repair some water damaged window sills and the plumber is coming at 2 to put in the sink and faucet. It's going to be a big day.
Friday looks about the same. emoticon Just substitute the electrician for plumber tomorrow, PT in the morning, and free shred papers before going to work at noon. And Karen is coming Friday night and I still have to grocery shop sometime.

Kerry, you don't cook? There are so very easy, good recipes here on Spark that wouldn't take too much effort! It gets so expensive to get something through driving through very often! I hope you can get an appointment and get the spot looked at very quickly.

For some reason I just can't get myself into gear but and can get in gear early enough to enjoy all the fun holidays. We'll see. Larry is back in bed which puts him at the top of the worry list. His chores now are to get us meals which is usually fast food which I eat less of all the time. Oh well. The rain is gave away so I think I will try a book.

Kerry, I hope the spot is nothing! I need to find a dermatologist here myself. I used to get checked once a year. What cards and book are missing?

I made 24 birthday invitations yesterday and today for our line dancing/Red Hat neighbor's 80th birthday next month. It took about 4 hours to do it! I almost ran out of adhesive and my printer started messing up. This is not the time....!

I will go to the airport tonight and pick Linda and Jack up. They had a good time in CA and one of her sons gave her a surprise early birthday party. They got to see their great granddaughter who is almost 6 months. Their other son had major surgery the day before they left so they will rest up and go visit him in a few days.

Tomorrow I get to spend the day with Cherilyn. She finished up summer school and posted some cute pictures. I will put them on my FB page if anyone wants to see....love those sweet kids!

Good afternoon. It's been raining all day. My husband spotted an ugly spot on my back so I will have to get that out. Hopefully it's not too bad. I haven't seen or heard from any kids or grandkids so day. I discovered Larry threw away last year's Cards . Hopefully I can find my book- it should be here somewhere.

Have a great day!

Yes, Rita, you are covered in prayer! If you don't feel up to it, could Rex sign in and let us know how things are going? Or email one of us and we can pass the word? Don't want to overtax your stamina but we are all pulling for you! Blessings for the chemo.

I'm glad you are getting things sold, Donna. I put all of Dave's office things and a chest, rocker, living room set, and pictures in a consignment shop. I got nothing. When I went back after the 3 month period to see what had sold, they didn't even have the items on the floor anymore! What a ripoff. They said they didn't sell so they took them to the warehouse to be put for charity distribution. OR I could arrange for someone to pick them up at the warehouse to be delivered back to me. Well, I was moving and didn't have any room for the items and had no way to know for sure if that was the truth or if they were lying. I'm glad you got buyers.

I just made myself take a walk. It was only 23 minutes but much faster than I did it even last week. I think the brisk air helped a lot but it didn't give me my exercise day from Fitbit. Guess I need to 'do' something else!!

Pat: That is what being a good friend is all about and now you are the NICE neighbor and that is how you break the ice. New friendships starting.

Mary: Glad you got your pedicure. I really need a haircut but honestly it is more about finding the time than anything.

I am slowing my roll today. Did an amazing amount of work around here but I have to work both jobs today so I am not running the dogs and just doing regular housework this morning. The house looks like some tramp lives in it.
Need to start scheduling the housekeeper for the deep cleaning and the carpet cleaner.
Sold my kayak so I am thrilled to get that out. LIsa is going to give me her desk chair so if I can sell mine it is one less awkward thing to pack. The same with the wheel barrow. She is looking for a used wheel barrow up there. Then I can sell mine and not pack that either.

Haha, that's cute, Pat! But you ARE nice and I'm glad you are continuing to be! What a nice way to meet neighbors...being neighborly! You can't make flower beds? That's sad. What about trees? Usually in new neighborhoods, the front of your house comes with a variety of plants in a bed and at least one tree! On the other hand, it's sure easier to care for pot plants than to weed a flower bed!

There was finally a huge rainstorm last night and 2 power failures along with one out of nowhere during the early evening. Every single time, I have to reset the clocks and the TVs all get messed up. Do you inow it takes at least 7 minutes for the TV to reset and sometimes 10 minutes if I have to get on a step stool and punch the button on the modem? Small sacrifice, I know, but so irritating! I'm getting a little out of sorts in my old age, lol! One GOOD thing is that I got a pedicure yesterday. First time since January. It felt so great. I was the only one in the shop. All but one girl wore masks and I wore mine, too. I've been very fortunate in that most places I go into---and I don't go to too many places yet---have been people free or at least only a few people at a time!

Rita so sorry you took that fall, it is a helpless feeling when that happens. I am so impressed with you resolve at what needs to be done and then doing it. You are a very strong lady and your strength will help. And please know my prayers are continuing!
Donna you are a woman with a plan, lol. Things are moving at warp speed now and you have lots to do. I am glad you get to use the new pool as a reward. I will be most interested in hearing all about you progress as you relocate.
Sue we have no place to plant flowers here as our entire yard is sod. We bought some large pots and for the first time we are growing flowers in them.
Mary I am glad you get to spend time with your granddaughters. I am missing Decklan so much now. He will probably be here mid June for a couple weeks and I will count the days.
I made my friend 6 masks and she picked them up today. We had a nice visit and she was so appreciative of getting them. She brought me a pineapple upside down cake with blueberries. We each had a piece and she left it here. Jerry helped our neighbor lay his sod and they brought over a loaf of zucchini bread to thank him, and I am trying to diet, lol. We have got to stop being so nice.

That’s great, Donna! What did you sell? Is there a community board? Our pool will let people swim laps only, 2 per hour. It seems like chlorine would kill anything so I think that’s silly. No water aerobics this summer. That’s so sad!

I listed 7 things for sale online and sold 5 of them in the first 3 hours it was online. They will all be picked up by noon. Yay!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday. I plan to swim again this morning. It was so refreshing and since the pool is private it is clean and they are limiting how many can get in at one time.

I'm kinda spinning. Not sure what to work on and attack next. Must get focused

Happy Sunday, my sweet Sparklers! I made an appointment for a pedicure...the first one since January! The nail place is literally around one corner from my neighborhood and the prices are wonderful. I am looking forward to that.

Rita, fear of falling is something everyone faces but to be unsteady now is so scary, I'm sure. I tend to trip or 'walk off the side of my feet' for no reason, too. It sure doesn't take much. I'm hoping you didn't do any damage and am so glad Rex could help get you up. Once I fell asleep with my legs curled up and when I tried to get out of the bed to go to the bathroom my thighs were numb, didn't hold me up, and I fell flat. I was probably in my 30's, thin and much more resilient than I am now! Be careful!

It was supposed to rain 60% yesterday. Not a drop! It showered a tiny bit a few minutes ago, then quit. Strange weather! I will watch Mass on TV at 9:30 then maybe tackle the garage again like you, Donna! I started sweeping it out last week but for whatever reason, the yard crew always gets grass and leaves under the door every week!

No matter how difficult our times are right now, we need to remember how fortunate we are to live in the US...and remember the brave men and women who fought for our freedom. Happy Memorial Day!

Rita: I am so sorry you fell. It must be hard to have balance issues. I'm so glad you weren't hurt anymore than you were.
You continue to be a very organized person. Look at you facing this head on and planning ahead. Smart lady.
I'm glad you are comfortable with your friends helping with the quilts. It sounds like they appreciate how special they are and will work on them with care.

I worked very hard today on the garage and rewarded myself by getting to swim in our new olympic size lap pool and new spa. It really helped my back. I will do it again tomorrow.

It was a beautiful day outside today, around 81 degrees with a breeze. Youngest son and family came over and worked in the yard. They took apart the old wooden swing set that we had gotten from the neighbors years ago. Last time it was the upright garden so my backyard is looking nice and empty.

I always go to bed at night with great expectations of a wonderful night's sleep. Last night I caused a disturbance when I got up for the bathroom at 3:00 a.m. and promptly fell on the floor. Somehow I just went over backyards. I hit the back of my head, scraped my shin and hurt my knee crawling on the wooden floor to try to get to a place where I could help myself up. If Rex hadn't been there to help me I might have been there all night until I'd call my strong son to some lift me up.My fear of falling seems to be growing all the time. I don't walk anywhere without holding onto Rex now. This has all come on so fast.

My quilting friends are coming over tomorrow and I'll hand the quilts over to them. They love what I've done so it should be fun for them. I plan to pack up my cute purse/backpack for my daily treks to the treatment center. I'm getting my ducks in a row.

The flags do look so festive and special, Donna. It's getting exciting for you with Karen coming and your plan to get her help with things. I was so fortunate. I had to change my address for everything, obviously, but I kept my bank and all the utilities stayed the same. I haven't moved from Houston since 1979! I do hope all goes well, you get your house on the market, and find the perfect place in Boise or close by!

Sue, my AC has been going mostly all day/night since March! It's been as high as 93 recently and it's only May. I think summer will be really hot. They are already predicting a very active hurricane season. Not looking forward to that, either. I bought an extra 24 pack of water and need to check my flashlight batteries. If something hits, I will hopefully go stay with Cherilyn and Steven. They mght even take the RV and go to the farm. I'm not staying behind this time, I don't think.

Rita: I am proud of you for letting your friends help you with the quilts. They were your idea and you designed them with individuality for each one. The finishing work getting done by others does not take away from the love and care that you put in.

I worked in the garage for a couple of hours and then got to swim in our newest pool. It is an olympic size lap pool and a shallow end but that end is 3,4,and 5 feet deep. I started slow and took my time and enjoyed the hot tub the best. My back felt better after that but my back is pretty much done for a while. I will watch a movie and sit down for a couple of hours.

Mary: I used to put the flags out too when I lived in Paradise. It's a lot of work but so rewarding in the end.

Karen is flying out Friday. I can't believe she will be here so soon. So much to do. I have to prioritize. I am going to have her help me with all the techy stuff. I have to change banks this week and she is going to help me cancel my other automatic payments and switch them and get my automatic deposits moved too.

I got 80 good UHaul moving boxes for free and about 30 other boxes. Hope that will hold me but I am not packing for a while.

Rita , I like to see a few pretty flowers fill empty spaces but I really am not a gardener. I grew up with gardens, both flower and veggies and resented my required work time. I still don’t like playing in dirt. But most of our new neighbors have very well kept, landscaped yards, so I “have to keep up with the Jones”. D like puttering with the flowers, so that helps. Now the big trick is protecting them from our pesky deer and rabbits and keeping them alive through our summer heat. It give D something to worry about.

Rita, as Mary said, Step 1 done. Just take it one step at a time. It’s so nice that your quilting friends offered to complete your quilts for you. You are helping them as much as they are helping you. We all want to help, ease the uncertainty, make it go away. But so little we can do. Your attitude is so good and loving, you are a gift 💝 to all If us.

No long weekend plans here. I guess we have adjusted to this stay-at-home routine. High point is my life is doing a load if laundry.
We also have turn the a/c on. With us sporadic rain we’ve been getting, along came very warms temps and unpleasant humidity.

Hope you all have pleasant weekends planned. Summer is now officially here.

Good morning, and happy Saturday, friends! Rita, hooray for the first step! I hope the pain from the port can be handled with your meds. And how wonderful that your TOPS friends will help work on the quilts! That should be a big boost, and as you say, once they get a handle on the work to be done, you can jump in as you feel like it. Great plan.

We had outdoor happy hour yesterday and it was wonderful to visit with everyone. As soon as I got home, the block captains started putting out flags for Memorial Day. I went to get mine at the home of one neighbor who is 'in charge' and there were only a dozen flags left for my 5 houses of 6 flags each!! I did what I could, but it sure didn't work out like it normally does. Well, after I gave up and came inside, another neighbor came over and brought the flags that SHE had in HER garage...forgot she had put them there! So another neighbor will help me put the rest out this morning and rearrange the ones I did last night! It's always something! I have no plans for Memorial Day. Cherilyn and her family took the RV and went to the family farm. But I will be with the kids on Wednesday for splash day at their back yard for the official first day of summer!

Sue, I imagine your yard is looking beautiful. A good dose of rain will be lovely. I wish I enjoyed fixing up the yard but never have had the spunk for it.

Donna, what an exciting decision you've made. You've already done some work on your house so it shouldn't be hard to sell It's wonderful your DD is coming to help. You are wise to have money in hand before buying your dream house. This decision seems to be well thought out.I am so proud of you and support you in every way!

Mary, I'm glad you are feeling better. You do well going out when you don't feel well. A migraine would keep me home. Our temps are getting into the 80s so our swamp cooler has officially been turned on.

This morning i had the port put in for the chemo. I've been to so many procedures I just try to numb out anymore. I still don't like them. The echocardiogram was at another hospital in the afternoon. Tonight the port is hurting but luckily the doctor gave me oxy-codeine for pain! I think it will be an early night for bed.

Oh and I made a decision too, Donna! I asked my TOPS quilting friends if they would be willing to help me finish the quilts. They said they were thinking of the same thing! After all the idea of the quilts came from them in the first place.I'll have them do basic quilting to hold it all together and then sew the binding on. I don't have much time with this sudden treatment of cancer. If I crash terribly I will not have this worry on my shoulders. I can always go back if I'm well enough to add to them. Yay, this makes me so happy!

Pam, I sent you a Spark mail message. There is a Modern Widows Club group in your facebook friend's Idaho town! I hope the piano tuner will get your piano going just fine.

I had a monster of a migraine this morning. I could feel it starting last night and ignored it. I should never do that! After Tylenol Extra Strength, I got out and did a couple of quick errands. I used my 25% off everything coupon at CVS and found the 'baby Walmart' that some neighbors said they liked to go to. It's not very far and not crowded. It's mostly food, but they had the toiletry items that I usually get at Walmart as well as cleaning products, mops/brooms, etc. So it's a reasonable alternative to the big one! And best of all, my headache is almost gone!

Morning gang,

Our long weekend was last weekend "Victoria Day", so our "summer" has started. Now all we need is for the summer to start! We've had a couple of lovely blue sky warm days. I just hope they continue.

Donna, it's good when a plan begins to come together and you are at peace with it. Here's to everything going smoothly. I have another facebook friend, who just moved from Florida to Idaho. She is a widow and has 4 small children. She moved there to be closer to her parents. She went to Coeur d'Alene. Where will you be headed? And of course sauntering across the street barefoot in your nightie to put something in your neighbour's bin is crazy. But if we can't be a bit crazy at our age....hey. emoticon

Rita, that does sound like an aggressive treatment plan, but if it is an aggressive cancer, then aggressive is how the treatment must be. We will all be praying for you. You know that, don't you? (((hugs)))

I organized a piano tuner to come on Sunday (he has another full-time job). We have an old upright piano here in my bedsit, which sounds dreadful when you hit the keys, so it really needs a good tuning. We'll see what he can do with it. I'm considering taking piano lessons - in my old age!

It's Friday - again. The weeks just seem to be flying by these days. I was sure when I got up that it was Thursday - but no. LOL!

Everyone have a good Friday!

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

Rita, it does sound like a very aggressive plan, but know that you have prayers coming all day long!

I hope we do get more rain, too, Sue. I watered yesterday and probably tomorrow...it's supposed to rain over the weekend but they never seem to predict for all areas! It's been getting past 90 every day and the humidity makes it steamy! No plans for Memorial Day. Cherilyn and her family went to the family 'farm.' They will be back Monday, or Sunday if the weather is bad there. They are in their RV, but stay inside the house with family in bad weather...way too confined! I am going there on Wednesday for a summer start off: outdoor water play and McDonald's Happy Meals!

Rita: Thanks for checking in. You are going to be a very busy lady from now on. Remember we are all thinking of you every single day. Check in with us when you can. We care and want you to come here and talk to us whenever it feels right to do so.

I have been grappling with a decision for about a month now. Rita's health situation has rocked me to my core and only impresses on me how precious every day is. Having said that I have come to a decision. I am moving to Idaho where Lisa is. I have never liked the desert landscape and crave green anything, everything. The market is so hot up there that houses are selling in 4 days. I am going to work my butt off getting this house ready to sell and when I have my money in hand I will move in with DD for a short while until I can find the right house for me and buy it. Karen in CA is going to fly out here for 4 days and help accelerate my getting this house pristine. A lot to take on but I am finally at peace with the decision.
So off I go to therapy at 7 AM and then to HOme Depot to give them my savings account. I have to buy a new sink, faucet, microwave, chandelier and one set of blinds. Oh yeah I have to replace the screen door on the slider. Then off to work at noon. I have been up since 3 am not able to sleep. I was tiptoeing across the street barefoot in my nightgown at 3 am filling my neighbors garbage can. I'm not crazy, right????

Finally! It’s raining ! They have been predicting it for 2 weeks and it’s gone everywhere but here. Gray and dreary we have had, but no rain. We spent the last few days planting, trimming and fertilizing and now we need the rain. A day or two will be fine and then I’ll be ready for summer.

Memorial Day weekend plans??? None for us. Hope you all have a nice weekend.

Thank you ladies for your sweet, kind words. I just got a call from the cancer dr's nurse. Dr. wants my chemo to start Tues. All the appt set up yesterday afternoon are now to be rescheduled so I can get the port put in. Also I got my schedule....4 days in a row of chemo; the next week 5 days of shots and lab work every week. There will be 3 weeks between each 4-day chemo. I think my life just took a whole new direction. Because of Memorial Day, I suspect that's why I only have 4 days of chemo. Since this is going to aggressive I would not be surprised if the doctor ddn't add on an extra chemo day. Dr. said I'd lose my hair and now I see why!!!!

Rita, I can't add anything to what all the ladies have said. I am just so sorry for that rotten diagnosis. But, there ARE such things as miracles, and we will be praying that the good Lord will see fit to provide one. (((hugs))) to you and Rex. He, too, must be reeling from this. Sue was right. Your children are caring for you in the only way they can right now, bless them.

Oh, Rita, there just aren't any words to really express how sorry I am for this diagnosis. You are such a sweet, caring, and kind person. I'm glad you have a doctor who believes in God's power and such a fabulous support system. Do everything they tell you... and if you 'need to inhale,' then go for it! (Never thought I'd say that in my life, lol!) I'm glad the doctor sees you as a young woman and has a plan. Our plans will be to continue our prayers for you! Know we are with you!

Oh Rita! I am just sick about this. I've never heard of it. I'm glad you have a good support system in place. Enjoy your new chair. I was telling my DD my bed and electric recliner are my favorite pieces of furniture. Are you in pain? Your head must be swimming. All our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Yes, the biopsy was last week and no answers were driving me crazy. Finally my PCP called yesterday afternoon She said it was a worry. So today after waiting for an hour, my very busy oncologist came in. Rex couldn't come into the building so I had him on speaker phone while he sat in the car. Dr. said to my phone "husband can you hear me?" Then the Dr pulled a chair right up in front of me. He said I'm very concerned about you." He said I had a very aggressive stage 4 Sarcoma cancer.
There is no surgery or treatment for this. No options on this earth. He said only God can heal this To make me more comfortable I'll start chemo ASAP to shrink the mass and take pressure off my organs. I'd have less than 3 months to live if I don't have the chemo treatment . With the treatments, hopefully 1-2 years with lots of new advancements happening. He wants to start chemo ASAP so my phone has been ringing all afternoon for Echo cardiogram, PET scan, a chemo video class and an appt for a portal to be put into me.When I start it will be 4-5 times in a row with three weeks between. Each session will be 4-5 hours. He gave me a supply of pain pills. My PCP had given me a second one as well so that all helps. Dr. said I'd even do good with marijuana! haha. I'm not sure I'd dabble with that. He said he considers me a young woman still so he wants us to fight this. He was so very sweet!

My priest friend came over this evening for the Anointing of the sick and to bring me communion. I'm so well taken care of. One surprise came today that was lovely. Since I had been sitting in Rex's automatic recliner my kids ordered me my own automatic recliner. It's a lovely gray and I'm so thrilled. They are just amazing how they get together to surprise us.

I am tired...didn't get much nap in so off to bed I go.

Yes, Rita, I got it! Know that we are praying for you! DO update when you can!

Pat, for whatever reason, I've not been scared. I am doing what I can and prepare as responsibly as I can when I do get out. Of course, some people just don't care and some are more careless than others. Most people in Costco were fine. But I do feel bad for those who have lost so much because of not having a job. Some of my neighbors had part time jobs in order to 'breathe' easier in retirement. One husband, not yet 65, had just gotten a promotion to manager of a local store, up from a part time employee last year. He was so happy and was going to get benefits, especially health insurance. His company just filed for bankruptcy. Two others also worked for companies that have gone under. They are in their early 70's and aren't sure how they will manage. The bigger companies will be fine..it's the 'little people.'

I was going to take a neighbor and her husband to the airport at 5:30 tomorrow morning. She called last night and said one of her sons in his 50's has been in the hospital with Crohn's disease (not sure if I've spelled it correctly) and has been transferred to 3 different hospitals in the last week. He will have surgery in the next few days, so even though they can't be with him, they will go to Austin to be at the hospital. That's another terrible side effect of the lock down...loved ones have no one with them in true times of need.

On a more positive note, my neighbor I took to Costco and I went to the place her daughter works for and delivered the food yesterday morning. They were so grateful! They cater to homeless families with children newborn to age 6. It's a lovely 'haven' in a very run down neighborhood. We will do it again in the fall. They are opening several more facilities when they can.

We shopped at Costco also. I am having fun seeing all the different styles of masks. I need my entertainment you know. Everyone had to wear one at Costco. Then we went to Aldi's and about half were wearing masks. As places start to open up I think more and more people will start to relax and then if no more outbreaks I might even start to relax, lol.
I bought a new wreath for my door today at JoAnn's, it was on sale. I just love having a wreath on my door now and want one for every season and occasion. I am thinking of having 12, one for each month.
I am glad I have a project of sewing now, I am hoping it keeps me out of the kitchen for a while. I am having so much trouble with my over eating I am just a hairs breath away from blowing up like a balloon. I do not want to be that person again. I have to work harder on not eating and keeping busy.

I have trouble with a lack of wall space in the den/entry myself, Sue! It's wonderful to be open and get lots of light but hard to find a place for bookcases and pictures! Hope you can find a solution!

I took one of my neighbors to Costco this morning so she could buy in bulk for a food pantry her daughter is helping out. It was fun and there weren't too many people. All but a couple of them had on masks, although there were a few children riding on the carts. I didn't think kids were supposed to be there yet! I even got toilet paper! It was a good trip, the first in 3 months. Then I went to Kroger to fill in the blanks. I try not to overbuy fruit and vegetables so that means I run out quickly.

Yes Mary, this place is large for an over 55 community. I’m not complaining about that. Although nice and airy, it’s also a very Open floor plan, so wall space is a premium. Hard to place bookcases, desks(computers and cords), etc. Somehow I’ll manage.
