Donna, I love cherries! What a treat. Wow, 7 pounds in 10 minutes! I love farmer's markets, too, but there aren't any here for some reason. I'd think there would be, but there aren't.

Yes, my tomatoes have slowed down, too. I think it's too hot for them.

Sue: I have only been to CA Disneyland. When I can't keep up with my short legs I always feel like a little kid bringing up the rear. You must be tired.

Claudia: My garden is teasing me with veggies starting to grow and then slowing down again. I did get one zucchini already. I also started stocking up especially on dry goods. Unemployment boosts pushed retailers to offer higher wages to be competitive and of course that cost has been transferred to the consumer with higher prices. Those of us on a fixed income are just getting poorer. I have stocked up on things that won't expire.

The cherry trees were so loaded I picked 7 pounds in 10 minutes. I'd love to be a cherry picker. The cherry pie is in the oven made from pie cherries. The rest will have to be pitted and after a few cobblers I will freeze them. I am looking forward to socializing tomorrow.
I stopped on the way home at a farmers market and bought produce for the PT's that have worked with me. I know 2 people brought in donuts and they did not touch them so I think produce would be better appreciated especially locally grown.

Sue, sounds like you had a good time at Epcot, even with the fast walking! I went to Disneyland once when I was in my 30's and it was great fun. We thought $26 for a day's pass was highway robbery. Times sure have changed.

Mary, we have two laundromats in the town where I do mine. They are both beautifully kept up. The other town is a different story. I wouldn't do laundry over there.

I did a huge grocery trip today. Spent way more than I'd planned, but the prices are going up so fast, I thought I'd better stock up before they get worse. I got a big load of meat I'll have to repackage into single portions tonight or tomorrow, and lots of canned fruit and veggies. I also got plenty of fresh vegetables, too.

My garden will soon be helping with the food supply. I have flowers on the green peppers, green beans, and the potatoes. That's exciting!

Sounds like a good plan Donna.
I’m just back from a full day of walking EPCOT. My daughter and Grands have one walking pace, FAST. I’m exhausted and probably won’t be move by morning. But no rest for the weary, check out is at 10am and then we are off the the airport. No souvenirs to haul home, Yea!!! My only purchase while here was 4 $1.39 rain ponchos. Best investment I’ve made in a long time. We had rain here all afternoon and evening. Made out Disney adventure do-able. Time to pack, see you all back in MD.

Good Morning: Well our big wind storm showed up even at home and now I have tree debris in the yards to pick up. Apparently the winds destroyed the fruit stand at the cherry orchard which is where they ring up sales. They cancelled cherry picking for today but later came up with an alternate plan so I am going in the heat of the day. It's the only time I have to get there.

Thursdays are MY day. In the morning I go to a coffee chat and in the afternoon it is cards with the ladies. Since I am trying to develop relationships I won't let anything interfere with it. Noah has two games this Thursday.......... I am going to miss them because I missed doing my stuff last week because of my eye appointment. I feel only slightly bad...... There will be more games, granted local games are numbered but I have to start my own life.

It does sound like you have a good laundromat routine worked out, Claudia! The laundromats around my old house and here have 'gone down' a lot so they weren't places to venture. The one near my old house started out really safe with attendants and wash/fold services right there. I used to do the comforters and blankets there. I ended up sending them to the dry cleaners. Lots more money! I'm sorry to hear of your sister's diabetes. So far, my sisters and I are okay, although 4 of us are all overweight. I'm the only one of the 5 who isn't on any medication!

Donna, it sounds like Noah is back to 'normal!' They aren't worried about broken bones and such any more? He's really a great player. So glad the doctors were there to help that woman. And I'm glad your goings out didn't impact your knee.

The Red Hats saw In the Heights yesterday. It was really good. Amazing dancing and good acting. The ones who actually sang were good when I could understand what they were saying! When they were 'rapping,' they lost me! Today I have water aerobics and I hope the huge rains of yesterday through last night will hold off. Then I'm going iwth my friend Linda to look for a poster frame. I have an in-person Modern Widows Club meeting tonight---the first time in well over a year! Today is International Widows Day. If you know someone who is a widow, give a call, send a card, or just think a kind thought!

Donna, you're right. If I'm at the laundromat, I'm not home worrying about doing chores. I consider doing laundry a chore, and I can enjoy that one with junk food and a book.

Noah must be one heck of a baseball player! He did well today. Good for him!

I just found out my youngest sister has been diagnosed with diabetes. I've been harping at her for years about some of her habits. Maybe she'll listen the next time. Big sisters DO know a few things.

I walked Walmart ( haven't been there in months), and then the big Albertson's and my knee did good. Used to be those cement floors really did me in. Progress.

I went to Noah's game and we had all kinds of excitement. It is really hot here and the lady sitting next to Lisa passed out. We got her flat and legs elevated. It turns out that 3 of the parents are MD's so she got good attention.
Then Noah pitched 3 innings. I hate to watch him pitch. It is so much pressure on him but he did quite well.
They are playing on a university field ( same size as some major league fields) and Noah hit an over the fence home run!!!!! 340 feet. Boy was that exciting. His pitching coach happened to be there so he got to see him pitch and hit the HR.
Then a storm blew in and the lightening ended the game. We were ahead 10 - 0 so it was a done deal anyway. That was a loaded 2 hours.

Claudia, it sounds like you make the best of the laundromat, besides if you aren't home there are no chores to be done.

AAAH! Laundry done for now. I really don't mind going to the laundromat, especially on Monday and Tuesday (now that I don't have to be at work) as there is never anybody there then. The end of the week is the busy time. So I get fast food and take a book and have a quiet hour. Quiet time is nice! If I want to, I can go visit my old boss as work is only a block over.

Donna, I would do rapids and rafting, but I couldn't sit and watch ball games. That would bore me to death. I need excitement.

Sue, I bet you will be happy to get back home and relax for a while.

The Bishop is coming for Confirmation tomorrow, so I doubt I will be in the library. I need to do a big shopping trip instead.

I woke up to thunder and lightening so much that the pictures on the wall rattled! My one day a week with no early morning exercise and I was wide awake before 6am! I went with the Red Hats to see In the Heights and we all enjoyed it. I hate rap and some of the songs were hard to understand, but much of the real singing was great, as was the choreography. The only person I recognized was Jimmy Smits. But they were good, young actors, dancers, and singers. Our Red Hat Queen is also the line dancing teacher and she told those of us who dance to be ready to do that stuff on Thursday, lol. I said I would wear one of the skimpy costumes! Everyone laughed...how dare they!!!

Donna, I drive through car washes for $6. I haven't washed my car on my own in years. You have so much energy. Hope the games aren't too hard on you. I wouldn't do rapids or kayak, myself!

Claudia, I'm sorry you have to go to the laundramat. I'm sure that takes up a tremendous amount of your time. Can you get a small unit with a top/bottom washer/dryer? It might be worth the money!

Pam, I couldn't get down on the floor easily, much less get back up! The girls are very easy for the most part. They don't need me to 'play' at all. But I still find it taxing to be 'on call' for 24 hours or more. I'm a wimp!

Sue, wow, that's a lot to do in a few days. I'm sure it's wearing on you, just sitting for all the games. I don't know if I'd have enough 'oomph' left for Epcot, although I really do want to take everyone to Disneyland maybe next year. We could use Chris's house as a base and do a 3 day ticket maybe! The kids would be from 4-9 by then, a great bunch of ages!

I have a Zoom call for Modern Widows tonight and tomorrow will go with Linda to see about a new poster frame for our Red Hat pictures. After I helped on Sunday to do all the photos, Linda's husband Jack broke the glass in the old frame! We'll go to lunch to celebrate her birthday, too. She's 81 today.

Pam: I'm glad it cooled down for you. Hopefully it will hold.

Sue: I bet you have seen more volley ball games in the last week than in your whole life. ha ha I know you enjoy being with family.

It was slightly overcast this morning so I jumped up and washed the car. We are in the 90's but expecting high winds in a couple of hours.

I will be leaving for Noah's game soon and trying to avoid the commute traffic with back roads. It's going to be a hot one.

I am plateauing again in PT. So frustrating. I got her to give me more exercises to do at home. They will address my deficits.

Sue, the humidity is why I would never live in Florida! It's bad enough in Mississippi.
You wake up and go out to the mailbox, come in, and need a bath. I hate humidity.

Pam, we don't have winters like you do, but it can easily get into the teens and twenties several times over the winter. This year, we were still getting 50s-60s into May, which is very unusual. I guess global warming was a bit confused this year. By May, it's usually into the 80s-90s.

When I was a kid and we lived in Ohio, we had a basement. I loved it! I wish they had basements here. I could use the extra space. My house is pretty small and the storage space is even smaller.

Off to the laundromat now.

Good morning gals!

The weather today is amazingly cold for June. Right now in late morning, it's only 52! That is very unusual for June. The high today is only going to be 64, with tonights temps going down to 48. Sheesh! Then, apparently, temps will go back to normal (whatever that is these days. LOL).

Claudia, I laughed when you said you were putting away your "sweats." You live in southern Mississippi! I would assume what you call cold, I'd call shorts weather. Your winters are probably our late Spring/early Summer.

Sue, have a good time in Florida. I've been watching the weather channel, and the southwest has also been hit with some pretty weird weather lately, for early summer, anyway. The east is being drenched and the west is burning from lack of water.

Mary, I guess that's the one disadvantage of having our kids later and our kids having their kids later in life. Now we're just too old to keep up with the small ones. I doubt there will be any other little ones in the family after Ainsley. She was a total surprise, as Leah didn't think she could get pregnant as she had "issues." I'm pretty sure they won't have any more (of course I'm not asking if they've "done" anything to prevent it. LOL). Mind you, if my knees weren't in such a mess, it wouldn't be an issue. But they are - so it is. emoticon

Pat, are you managing to keep Decklan occupied? How is the house purchase going for Stephanie and Wyatt?

Donna, how is your knee today?

Everyone have a great day!

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

I’m still in Florida. I sat thru 4 straight days of volleyball. We are at the Orlando/Orange County Convention Center. This place is massive. 3+ building of screaming girls 8-18 playing volleyball from 8-4. 130 VB courts in our bldg, 330 total in all bldgs. I never saw so many 6’+ girls in my life. If any boys have a thing for tall girls, this is the place to be.

It’s super hot 🥵, incredibly humid and we’ve been have daily severe thunder storm. You need 3 showers a day. D flew home this morning, heaven forbid he miss two weeks of golf. We are heading over to the coast for a beach day today. Tomorrow we are going to EPCOT, it’s hosting the International Flower Show, and Thursday we fly home. I think I’m ready.

Claudia, I don’t envy you having to do all your laundry at a coin laundry. That’s a lot of work hauling everything to and from. Being a northerner, we had basements and our laundry was there. That was enough pain constantly up and down the stairs. My favorite part of this new home is facing a first floor laundry. What a treat to me.

Mary it’s nice you had been able to share some great times with your daughter and grands lately. They grow up fast.

Jobs for Tuesday: Do another load of laundry. I'm working on getting the winter clothes washed and stored (we were still in sweats in May). I need to get throw rugs, quilts, and the dog's couch cover done, too. I'll be sick of the laundromat before it's all done, not to mention broke.

Donna, the chores will still be there tomorrow. Relax for today.

I wrote this message an hour ago, but the computer went down because of an unexpected thunder storm. Then I had to leave because the dog was trying to crawl up my leg to get to my lap because she is terrified of thunder.

Claudia: I am sitting here "recovering" and thinking of all the indoor chores I could be doing.. Not going to happen today.

We are expecting 9 days of temps over 100 starting Sunday. UGH! My neighbor says that doesn't happen here. We have missed the last 2 heat waves all around us.
There is a 6 mile stretch of the river where you can raft down it. Lisa wants to take me. I told her that as long as there are no rapids I'm good to go. We are supposed to go to some hot springs somewhere about an hour away but I don't see her having any time this summer for that.

I don’t get nearly the a out of time with my daughter and her family that I thought I would when I moved closer, so I’m very grateful for the time I DO get! I had baked stuffed shrimp. It was « heavier » than I expected. I ate 2 and brought 3 home for another meal. It came with rice pilaf and I. Fought all of that home, too.

I have washed all the sheets and need to remake the beds and vacuum. Those are my chores for the day!

Mary, it's good to see family, isn't it? I don't get to see mine often, so it's extra special when I can. What did you bring home from the restaurant?

Donna, I bet you are glad your medical "ordeal" is over! Too bad the pounds will come back.

I was watching the weather report about the Tropical storm in Alabama and all the damage it caused. I'm glad we miss the worst of all the storms from the Gulf.

I actually got some things organized this morning. That should have been done a long time ago, but better late than never, I guess. Anyway, that's one more thing I can check off my to-do list!

I'm glad the colonoscopy is over, Donna, and hooray for losing 6 pounds! I don't htink I've lost more than maybe 3 in those times! What are you doing for WW? In person or online? I know I have to do something, too. I have no interest in 'working' on it, I just want the weight gone. I hate how I look in my clothes, but especially OUT of them, lol...or CRY out loud!

I had a nice lunch with Cherilyn. We have great conversations. I ate half or less and brought enough home for at least 1 more wonderful meal. I got home and the heavens opened up. We laughed that last year we almost had to swim from the car to the restaurant because it was raining so hard. Missed it this year, thank goodness and now it's raining. Too bad I watered this morning!

I could brag that I lost 6 pounds in 24 hours but we all know it will be back on in no time and that is a tough way to lose it. I am home and a little wobbly so will stay put in my chair. I have everything I need here.
I did resign up with WW this morning so I will have to be accountable and start tracking what I put in my mouth.

Pam, I feel the same way. No matter what I do, sometimes I just cannot lose weight! Frustrating!

Mary, the dog is doing much better. She's back to smiling at me all the time and she played with her ball last night, which means she chewed the fuzz off it. For some reason, she will carry it around for hours, but then she has to rip off the fuzz. I think she just likes to tear apart the naked rubber. Silly beast!

Good Monday morning, ladies!

Donna, I wonder when some people will realize that little kids (or even young teenagers) are NOT playing in the big leagues and their games are supposed to be enjoyable. They are also supposed to be learning about good sportsmanship. Parents (or coaches) who shout like that should be ashamed of themselves.

Well, I think I'm going to have to do something about my weight, or give up altogether and just let myself turn into a blimp! For some reason, my weight is creeping up and up and I don't know why. I do NOT eat a huge amount, I don't eat desserts, and I very rarely eat snacks - and my weight is climbing - again. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

Ah well, I can only keep trying. I'm going to have to get used to that horrid feeling of an empty stomach growling and aching, because that's the only thing that might work.

Everyone have a good day!

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

Happy Monday! It's my daughter's 46th birthday! I'm taking her to a restaurant near the San Jacinto Monument and the Battleship Texas. It's practically in her 'backyard' with wonderful food. What a pleasure to get to see her twice in a few days!

Claudia, I'm glad your dog still is doing well, considering the age. My last 2 dogs made it to 15. They had good, long lives. We never let them upstairs, though, and never in bed with us or our kids. that worked for us, anyway.

Donna, sport for kids can really get rowdy. One of my neighbors was banned from being a coach and from even attending games when his son was probably 10 or so. He yelled at him, the other coaches, the other kids, and the parents! He cussed people out and was exceptionally rude. After he was banned, he would sit on the hood of his car in the parking lot and yell some more! I'd forgotten about that until you posted this! Does Noah still play ahead of his age?

I helped my friend Linda put pictures on a back board showcases activities for Red Hats and line dancing yesterday. Then when her husband was trying to put the picture frames together he broke the glass on one. So now we need to find a frame that will match what broke, or redo it all! I have another busy week ahead, but all fun things!

Geez. I just lost a long post.

Anyway, I went to Noah's game. The opposing team and fans are very volatile and at their last game they had to stop the game for 30 minutes for the head umpire to come and sort things out, Well this game went south too and someone called the police but everyone while hot and yelling stayed in their seats. A coach was thrown out of this game. I left when the game was over because both sides had to exit the same gait. Didn't want to be there. The opposing team plays again at 3. Hope they have some authorities there for that game. I am swimming at 3 and then start my prep at 5.
Hope you all are having a nice day.

Donna, think how glad you'll be when Monday is over.

My dog is 15 and has arthritis, so she can't get on my bed any more. I bought her a MyPillow dog bed that she LOVES! She still prefers my lap, though. She didn't wake me up for long. I think I was asleep faster than she was.

5 games in two days? Noah's going to be exhausted. You, too, probably.

Pat: It sounds like Decklan is a very active boy. So board games or cards don't do it for him? You must be exhausted. More screen time?

Claudia: Glad you didn't have any worse weather. My third dog that sleeps all night had to get off the bed last night and I have to help her down in her old age so I was up too.

Mary: That's nice that you have a pool to access with the kids. Its is such a good way to wear them out in a fun way.

My kindle will no longer accept ebooks so I have regressed to checking out real books. I have 3 books and 3 weeks to read them but since my glasses are broke I can not read with my old glasses. If I put on my broken pair I can read for a while but they sit cockamamy on my face so it gets ol fast.

I went to both of Noah's games this morning. My leg was not happy the last hour but I got through it and no pain pills. He has 5 games from yesterday to tomorrow. I will go to at least one game tomorrow but I want to swim also tomorrow.
I start my liquid diet tomorrow for my colonoscopy Monday. I am dreading not eating more than the clean out. How sic is that? I love to eat and hate to be hungry. I know, I know, I can have broth and jello............ boring. Oh well, what is one day out of your life, huh?

Since I haven't been able to watch the news or regular TV shows, I didn't see what happened about the hurricane, so I'm glad you got nice rain and nothing bad, Claudia! Sorry the dog woke you up, though! Hope things will continue to be okay through the next one.

Pat, oh, Pat...HOW do you do it?? I thought of you yesterday and today. I don't get on the floor, I don't 'play pretend' with them, do Legos,....they are very creative and they do fine without me. But the constant chatter wears me out and the referring over the You Tube videos did me in! I finally made them turn off the iPads. Cherilyn doesn't let them do it except at my house and the other grandparents' house. She said that's the rule there, too: you start fussing and they get turned off! We went to the pool for 2 hours this morning and I was so proud of them all. They played without making any of the 2 older men there mad, lol! A great grandmother came with her 2 great grandsons---she keeps them every weekend because their mother has a 2 yr. old and a newborn! And she just stopped working at 80+ this year!! I need a nap, and it was only 24 hours!!! I hope the kids get the loan approved and the house will be theirs!

Pat, the weather is cool here today for a change. It's been really hot, too, for two or three weeks now, so the coolness is welcome. The weatherman says that will end tomorrow.

It will be good for Decklan to be in a new house with a yard. Every boy needs a yard.

The storm came through around 3:00AM with a lot of rain. It woke me up for about two minutes. Than at 5:00, the wind was blowing fiercely which scared the dog, so she woke me up barking in fear. I had to go sleep in the La-Z-Boy so she could sleep in my lap without shaking in terror. Two hours later, I went back to sleep in the bed. The garden got a good soaking.

It is scorching hot here! I am having a tiny reprieve since the little girl from across the street is over here playing. I say tiny as they are both so rambunctious and I need to keep reminding them not to run, lol.
Thanks everyone for all the good wishes for the kids to get the house. There is only one more hurdle to jump, the loan appraisal, and then the deal is done. The first room they packed up was Decklan's so that is why I am keeping him longer.
I am so tired of this crazy weather. The week before we went to Colorado the weather was so cold and rainy we needed long pants and coats. Then in Colorado we had a couple nice days, came home and it has been very hot for the past two weeks. Our grass is turning brown the flowers need watering twice a day and to hot to play outside. I am afraid to think what the rest of this summer will be like.
Seems like the kids need someone to be the mother in their pretend game so my mini break is over.

It's 7:10 and I'm 'channeling' my maternal grandfather, who used to say as my sisters and I (5 girls) walked in the door, "When are they going home??' to my grandmother! I love them so much and they really are good...but I'm so tired from my busy week and we have showers, shampoos, and bedtime still! We drove through Chick Fil A, their treat when they come here. After supper we watered my outside plants with cups, measuring cups, and buckets. Annalise said she's always so glad when God makes it rain because she chose watering the plants as her summer chore and it's SOOOO hot! I told her my sprinklers will come on Monday morning but the pot plants still need water. Apparently it was more fun doing it here than at home! The girls are watching LOL Barbie videos....very creative young girls make their LOL dolls and Barbie dolls 'talk' in scenarios that are very inventive! But I can't watch 'my shows' on TV...but all in all, we're fine.

Claudia: How nice to get to visit with old friends. Hope your weather is not too bad.
I can not function without at least 7 hours.

Mary; Enjoy the girls tonight. I know you will have your hands full.

Pam: good luck with the baby and hope you get to rest afterwards.

I left the house at 11 and got home at 4:30. PT, cards, and hair appointment.
It was a busy but good day for me. I finally got my gel packs and am using them on my leg. The big one came with velcro straps so it can't slip around.
Tomorrow Noah has 2 games back to back. I doubt I will watch both of them. It's too much for me. I've got to mow the lawns but it is 95 outside so probably not tonight. The sun doesn't set until 9:30 so it doesn't cool down much.

You're a better woman than I am, Claudia...I have to have sleep to function and it's been a bad sleep week for me once again. I love 9 hours in order to wake up feeling okay. That never happens anymore. So glad you're having fun, though!

I've been out all day. Two of my friends from work who moved to Iowa a couple of years ago came back for a visit, so we all met at work. We spent the morning goofing off, then I grabbed some lunch and worked at the library for a couple of hours.

Can you believe I haven't slept since 11:00 AM yesterday? My brain just WILL NOT turn off. I don't even feel all that tired. I'm sure if I get in my La-Z-Boy and sit down, I'll be out like a light, so I won't do that now. Hopefully, I can stay awake until at least 7:00 so I don't just grab a nap and then be up all night. I don't know why I can't turn off my brain. I'm not worried or upset by anything. Maybe too much happy stuff going on.

Our sky is black, but it's not doing anything yet either. We're supposed to be getting a band of the storm this evening--good sleeping weather if the dog doesn't freak out. I still don't think it will be all that bad. The weathermen do try to scare people. I'd only panic if it was a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane or tornadoes.

Grannies should only be in their 30s-40's so there is energy left to chase kids.

Claudia, I do hope it passes you by---hurricane, tropical depression, or whatever it might end up being!

Donna, hope the PT goes well. My county is doing great...very little Covid overall and probably 47% have been vaccinated. I still have a few friends who seem to be almost petrified but I'm not and I haven't been.

Pam, when my youngest was in 1st grade my husband and I were at a school dance/Octoberfest. One of his friends was there and his parents were out on the dance floor. My husband leaned over and said 'Look at that FOX!' in the leather skirt! I grinned and said, 'She's a grandmother!' He said no....not that old lady, the other one in the leather skirt! Haha...she had a baby in high school and her son got a girl pregnant at 16 also so she was a grandmother at 36! Interestingly enough, that couple divorced and the grandfather married his daughter in law! Crazy stuff!

I had a fun lunch with my friend in another over 55 community. We went to the furniture store where we had both found things we wanted last month and she found a dresser that matches her current bed. She's done a great job of fixing up her 'new to her' house in a month. It really looks great. She's getting a storm door and a screened in porch next, then she will be done. I'm waiting on the little girls to come for the night!

And a good morning to all my ladies! emoticon

I had a good sleep and feel very rested. Mary, you are right. We're too old to be grannies now! LOL! I had a friend many years ago who became a grandmother for the first time when she was 34!! Can you imagine? She (accidentally) had her first child at 16. Then her daughter married and had her first at 18. Can you imagine being a grannie that young? Just think of how fit we would have been. emoticon

It's very dark and gloomy outside, and has been since I got up, but it doesn't appear to be actually doing anything, just being gloomy. We'll see how the weathe progresses as the day goes on. It will probably do nothing much at all. These weather people always prophesy the worst outcomes they can imagine, and leave the rest of us wondering why it didn't happen.

I hope everyone is well and ready for the weekend!

Have a great day!

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario

We are still on the edge of the storm, it looks like. They keep moving it east, but who knows. These storms have a mind of their own sometimes. It looks like it won't be too bad.

Our generation is lucky in that we know now how to try and prevent dementia a little bit. That's better than the elders of my family had.

Donna, according to the news, the Southeast isn't doing too well following Fauci's orders, either. But at least Mississippi's cases are nearly done and my county is having 0-2 cases a day, and it is usually 0 nowadays. So we are doing very well.

Good Morning; Another beautiful morning giving away to 90's later. My only plan this morning is to attack the weeds. I am tired and trying to rest until PT at 11:30. If my leg feels ok I'll go to cards at 1 and then straight to get a hair cut. I am missing Noah's game today but he has 2 tomorrow and at least 1 on Sunday so I don't have to go to all of them.
Sunday I start my liquid diet and later my treatment for my colonoscopy Monday. UGH! I'll be glad when Tuesday gets here.

Pam: I've always questioned why those chubby short legs on a toddler can go so much faster than our long legs. A mystery of the universe.

How are your states doing with % of residents getting at least one Covid vaccine. I am embarrassed to say that Idaho is only 38% but my county is at 65%. I think the farther north you go the farther you get into rebel territory.

Pam, the storm should be well east of us, nearer to New Orleans, then on to Claudia in MS! Our Houston weather says we won't even get rain until possibly Sunday...good in a big way, hurricane wise, but in the mid 90's every day and high to 98 next week! I totally understand about the little ones wearing us out. I had a FB 'favorite' post from 7 years ago show up and I asked the rhetorical question 'Who decided to call is babySITTING?' because I was running around after the twins every time I had them with me! We are 'older grandmothers' as opposed to our friends whose grandchildren aren't little ones. It sure does make a difference.

Claudia, I do hope you will weather this storm! It's not supposed to be a bad one...but we just never know how things will turn out when they do hit. Apparently it's a fast moving one, so that's good. Not excessive rain or wind for long periods of time. As for the dementia, that's also so up in the air and such a scary proposition. But you are really trying hard to stave it off! Good for you!

Donna, hooray for your knee not hurting. The mom of my daughter's friend is 80 and had a knee replacement 9 months ago. I was telling her about your recovery taking so long and she said her first replacement was a breeze but the 2nd has taken longer and not to give up---but keep up iwth the exercises! I told her you get a LOT of exercise!

I have water aerobics, then I will have lunch with my friend who moved to another over 55 community. The girls will come here around 4:30 and spend the night. At some point, I have to go to the grocery store!!

Pam, this storm is likely to be baby stuff compared to what will come later in the season. A Cat 5 hurricane is truly a scary thing. This one may be a lot of rain, which can be a lot of flooding. Hopefully, it won't be that bad.

I hope you get rested up from the babysitting.

Hi gang!

OMG I'm exhausted. That child so full of beans (but so funny with it). Just trying to keep up with her makes me feel my age. And she isn't even walking on her own yet! Once she starts actually walking and running, I may have to eithe tie her up or tell her mother I can't babysit until she's old enough to listen to reason. LOL! Her fat old grannie just won't be able to keep up. emoticon

I was watching an American weather ditty on YouTube earlier, and apparently you guys in the southeast are going to get hammered tomorrow as well, weatherwise. So we're all going to have fun. Houston will get the tail end of a tropical storm (and maybe even a hurricane) and the stormy weather is supposed to trail into Mississippi and Louisiana and then up to Virginia and environs. Rain for quite a long time as he said. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if he's right?

Everyone have a good weather day tomorrow (hopefully)!

Mary, you're such a good grandma to watch the girls overnight.

Yes, Brennan's IS very expensive! I could never afford to go there when I was in New Orleans. But it is said to be extremely good.

Donna, that's great that your knees didn't hurt! But better to have the remedy for them and not need it.

I love small towns, too. I've lived in cities, towns, and the middle of nowhere, and small towns are my favorite, although the middle of nowhere would be just as fine with me. Considering the way things are going in the world, I think a small town is probably best. I hope.

Every single person in my family (both sides) who lived over the age of 80 has had dementia or Altzheimer's. I plan to be the first to beat the family curse. That's why I'm studying Japanese, reading, doing crossword puzzles, keeping busy doing new things, socializing, etc. I live alone and don't dare to get any kind of mental impairment.

I wasn't done. Mary: I am glad you survived a hot day at the zoo. Lunch sounds wonderful and to have it free is a bonus!!!

Claudia: I have always migrated to small towns. I am not happy to be so close to Boise, 235,000 pop. I hate traffic and tight streets. I'll take small towns anytime.

I am off to swim again tonight. I was all ready to use my new gel pack on my knee today for the first time and my knee did not get stiff and tight after last night's swim. Murphy's law right? That's good news actually.

Claudia, yes, it's the same family! It's such a lovely place but very expensive, therefore, not a frequently visited restaurant! My daughter's very sweet friend and her husband are quite generous and I am amazed and very appreciative when I am included in these wonderful festivities! I've heard from 2 people today who say that the crazy guy is still not back in the house so that's good! And yes, a few of these women are probably in the beginning stages of dementia. It's sad and since I don't know some of them very well, it's hard to tell. They still get out and attend functions but when they start in with the vague comments or questions about what we've just discussed, it's very 'telling.' Might be us one day...but I sure hope not. My mother was quite sharp until the end!

Donna, I'm glad you met some nice people! Hope you can find some to pal around with! I hope you can find just the right glasses, too.

I will babysit the granddaughters tomorrow night and Saturday during the day. I need to clean up some and go get groceries tomorrow. There goes my quiet weekend but my son in law texted my daughter while we were at the zoo and asked if he could take her out for an early birthday dinner and could I watch the girls!

I enjoy talking to women my age or older. Just now I was standing next to a woman my age each of us looking at frames for glasses. She couldn’t find the frames she really liked… on her face! We commiserated about getting older. Ha ha
I enjoyed the 1.5 hour coffee chat. I

Mary, it sounds like you had a FANTASTIC day! But, yeah, the heat would have me dropping. Is the Brennan's you ate at the same outfit as the one in New Orleans? It sure sounds like it might be.

It sounds like the older ladies you mentioned who repeat things and ask just answered questions may have dementia. My Dad did the same thing. It got annoying but once I understood why, I could handle it. He could tell the same story 15 times in a row, literally, and in the same words each time.

The crazy guy does need some attention. I would be so scared around him and I'd worry about his mother.

Laughter is the music of the soul.

I'm back, exhausted from the heat and full and ecstatic over the fabulous lunch at Brennan's, a wonderful restaurant that my daughter's friend's husband manages! It's very 'swanky' and there is a dress code---and we were all in shorts and sandals and drippy from the zoo! But instead of seating us on the patio, they put us in a private room! The 3 little girls were exceptionally well behaved, considering that they were hot and hungry when we got there and we had an almost 2 hour lunch. Everything was made especially for us...and dessert was a brand new recipe using the blueberries from the family blueberry farm: a blueberry chocolate soufflé'. I'm fat and sassy from the excellent food and best of all, Jennifer, my daughter's friend and one of the twins' godmothers, said it was 'on the house!' We got into a traffic snafu on the way home and did a round about trip but all in all, it was great.

Pam, cool weather would be so wonderful! I hope it will give you several good days. I have a headache from the intense heat at the zoo. It was so funny. Jennifer's mother is 80 and she was really dragging. I told her maybe our daughters could rent a twin stroller and we could ride the rest of the trip! She's originally from Peru and now lives with her older daughter in Denver but is visiting her twins for several months. It was fun to reconnect with her. She said Denver is 100 right now! Hope you have a great time with Ainsley! And that nut job guy is 61---he's an only child apparently and 'takes care' of his mother. Not sure how much care he gives. I'm glad she seems okay from what people said.

Donna, I hope the authorities will keep the guy locked up until they can figure out what meds he needs and that someone will see to it that he takes them! I guess no one can make him to it, though. Another person at hte HOA meeting said he was having girlfriend troubles and that's what set him off. Regardless, he needs intensive help. I hope you make some new friends at the coffee. I will tell you that in some of my neighborhood 'circles' here, I'm the youngest or one of the youngest. In others, I'm in the middle. But I enjoy the older ladies a lot in many instances. And for the ones who tend to irritate me, I have to remember that one day I might be the one repeating myself, asking questions that have JUST been answered, and trying to navigate a world that has changed so much. So far here, life is wonderful. IH ope that works for you!

Mary: I hope they keep him locked up and treated for a long time. This is exactly the scenario of so many mass shootings. Authorities are warned over and over about bizarre behavior and no one does anything and then he goes and shoots up a place.

Pat: We will all hold our breaths that the house goes through. I hope you have the energy to add on another week or two. With all the attention you give him you must be exhausted.

Pam: Enjoy your little one.

I am going to a new ladies chat coffee this morning. I hope they are closer to my age but I won't know until I get there..
My glasses broke yesterday and I am left with either wearing them cockeyed or my back up glasses that are missing a nose pad. UGH! I have an appointment today for an eye exam and new glasses. Of course my glasses are 3 years old and the shape of the lenses won't fit in any other frame and they don't make these anymore. I will get new nose pads for the back up glasses so I can at least wear them.

Good morning ladies,

Pat, I really hope that they get the house.

Mary, your loony guy really needs to be "assessed." Let's face it, anyone who walks into a restaurant area starkers has a bit of an issue. LOL! How old is this guy anyway?

I'll be spending the afternoon with my Ainsley today, as James is at work. The weather this week has cooled down considerably, (beautiful though,) but tomorrow is supposed to bring some storms. Apparently the weather in your mid west is going to cross southern Ontario and collide with another front coming from somewhere else. Either way, we're in for some weather tomorrow.

Everyone have a good day today!

God bless,

Pam from SW Ontario
