Yes. Absolutely see that doctor. Take some time with this site and work on a plan. Start tracking your food to see what changes can be made. Talk to your doctor about diet changes as well as an exercise plan. That can be as simple as walking to start. I think one of the keys is to take control. To do what will work for you and what you can continue with. Take baby steps. There may be some glitches, but that is part of the learning. Don't give up on yourself. There is a lot of support here and a lot of great information. You can do this.

I agree with Luann... see a doctor as a starting point. This process takes a great effort of will and if you're depressed it just makes the work that much more difficult if not impossible. It's all a part of the wellness process. I'm several years older than you and have been at this for nearing fourteen years. In the beginning, it was rough but now it's just the way I live and there's no hardship involved anymore. Get started and then just never quit. It really does work if you stick with it. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Hello, and welcome.
Are you seeing a professional regarding that depression?

Hello - I'm new here and I'm 65. I've been struggling with my weight since after having my 4 kids. At my wedding at age 30 I weighed 98 lbs (sigh).

I'm close to 180 now, last year at this time I was 171. I'm only 5'2". I need help, but nothing seems to work for me.

Spark People is the last resort before I throw in the towel. To say I'm depressed is an understatement. I feel pretty hopeless right now.
