Thanks so much for the question. We did consider keeping an archived version like you mention. However, it costs more than you might expect to keep that up, plus there are potential legal considerations. In the end, we just could not reasonably do that and made the decision to close down the system completely.

I get that running a site with zillions of members is expensive - what if the site was just 'archived', parked here for people to come to and read only? Or parked somewhere else? (lie, give Internet Archive an official, complete archive? there are a lot of 'holes' in the current IA version)
There is SO much info here between the official articles and the members blogs and the teams. So many specialized teams (like the Chair Marching Team) that can't be found elsewhere (I remember when we didn't have the option to add chair exercise to our fitness tracker but somehow you guys figured out the mets and made it possible!)
