You are lucky not needing a car. I need one - my nearest supermarket is 15k's away and so is my daughter and Dr. My son and his husband don't have one because where they live in Vancouver BC they have excellent public transport, and other than that, it works out cheaper to hire a car for when they go away, unless they are flying somewhere.

I visited my daughter today. We watched the NZ Covid Update on TV and after that we were talking about the glass sliding door and full-length windows either side, going into the sun room. I got up to look at something on the far side of the sun room and dumb me walked forehead first into the glass window LOL! It was quite a loud whack and my daughter 'kindly' suggested I needed new glasses. I have just got my new ones .... $1,000 worth LOL! Anyway, after I left she told Eli (my 13yr old g/son) saying I was a clumsy clux, to which he agreed, then turned to walk away and promptly did what I did, except into a solid wall emoticon emoticon

We go back into Level 1 (re Covid) at 1159p.m. on Wednesday. There have been no community-related cases for about 11 days. They are just trickling in at the border. Some days there are none and other there may only be 1 or 2, occasionally a couple more. When anyone returns to NZ they are put into managed isolation/quarantine for 2 weeks if they are symptom free and have 2 negative test results - longer if there is an issue. Soooo, we now have no restrictions again.

I feel very sorry for the medical staff because they are at so much more risk than virtually anyone else.

Heck - 1 aneurysm is bad enough, but that many ... WOW! My sister-in-law had a bad one and the neurosurgeon told her 15 minutes longer getting to the hospital she would have died.

Today has been quite warm for early Spring. I actually wore a short-sleeved summer top.

super cute lizards , I love them all!
I can totally understand your sister , sometimes I send my brother to the market to buy and bring us heavy stuff that I can't carry and he buys all sort of odd stuff , just because it was cheaper emoticon . who told him to save my money? so I have to carry it to the garbage collecting place , it's pretty far for me emoticon .
I'm starting to regret that I'm not driving but usually I take a cab or a friend gets me to shopping, my taxi driver even carries my groceries inside , so I still manage. I never needed a car cause I live real close to work and there's no left parking place where I live. if I have to walk to the car almost as far as to work , what's the point?
yes she had 3 or 4 aneurysms , I forgot the total number , she's the star of the clinic where she had surgery , they never saw that many in one person. and during the covid hospital phase they were always trying to send her work somewhere dangerous emoticon . it's very annoying when nobody considers that the medical staff could be way more sick than the patient. I hope they don't return to that phase , we have over 2000 cases daily and nobody believes in covid anymore emoticon

I feel blessed that my family are thoughtful, too. I know a lot of parents' adult children don't seem to give too much of a thought about whether their parents may need any help or not. I find it rather sad. I've witnessed it too many times in my former work.

My sister is a prime example. Apart from 3-4 times, my niece hasn't taken her mother to get groceries since my sister stopped driving, (hopefully temporary until she can get her hip operated on which can only happen after a her massive leg wound has healed) about May last year. She still had last year's Xmas Club credit waiting to be used. I got a heap of groceries and took down to her yesterday - it's just over an hour's drive each way. I took her out for lunch in a really nice cafe, and then to PaknSave which is a massive cut-price supermarket. She shopped till her heart's content. I stood back in the distance at one time and watched her. The joy on her face being able to actually CHOOSE what she wanted, and to get things she needed was something to behold emoticon Once we got back to her little apartment and unloaded all the groceries, I took my niece and her husband's wedding present upstairs to them. They got secretly married a couple weeks ago after having been together for 30 years. While up there I got a cuddle of this :-)

She is enjoying a meal here.

Here she is snuggled into my niece's hubby, having a sleep and keeping warm.

They've got 2 blue-tongued lizards too

I hope that the staff around you, and YOU, are all o.k. The nurse who had the cerebral stent surgery, did she an have aneurysm? I hope that she recovers well.

no he didn't , he was hurrying up to work , I'll pester him later emoticon .
you look very cute emoticon . I'm glad your family helps you .
mom is pretty compliant but she has a lot of serious ailments so it's not easy to be cared of, physically speaking, a lot of hard work. and I'm not in the best shape to do that but I manage for now. work is insane and every day a new catastrophe happens lol. we seem to have 2 sick nurses who both caught it at home from the family or in vacation. I'm tired and crying like a fountain with no hope of resting ever again. my remaining nurse wants to quit lol , " to live her life " . the other had surgery and will stay at home for few months , cerebral stent, the second one.

I'm glad Danny is fine. Did he say what the postgrad degree classes are? I'm glad Debs is fine, too, and pleased that Pelos should be fine after being in trouble. Make sure that you let them know I love and miss them, and wish nothing but the best for them.

Sometimes it's harder to take care of family than it is when you take care of others in your line of work. I found patients far more compliant than family, even when the family were sick LOL! I hope that she is feeling on top of the world before too long. Don't blame you OR her not wanting to go to the hospital.

I got a lovely cuddle of a beautiful little guy, yesterday. He is 6-7 weeks old. The grandson of my best friend. Her daughter and partner brought her up yesterday to spend the day with me while they went out to his parents for Father's Day. I met them in town and we had a lovely lunch at a cafe, then I brought her out to my place for the rest of the day and dinner.

My grandson and his partner came over early in the a.m. (just after 8a.m.) and waterblasted my deck. I had bought a waterblaster a few months ago, and gave it to him a few days ago to take back home, put together and do what he needed to do around his place, then he brought it back yesterday. He is going to paint my railings because the guy who did it last made an absolutely terrible job and it was all peeling off. After he did my deck he did the wooden seats that my late hubby had made. They look like new again. They are about 20 years old.

lol , well , I hope you won't get there needing help but it's nice to know you can count on her.
I talked to Danny, he's fine , he moved , seems to have nice roommates. he started some postgraduate degree classes and he seems to be happy about being back to school lol. he said he was " tired about the pandemics". Debs is fine , Pelos was in trouble but Danny says he should be fine now.
I'm so and so , mom is taking all my everything to take care of her. work is a breeze compared to that. it's not her fault she just feels not stellar. she doesn't want to go to the hospital and I don't want that either, it's full of covid. I can't afford to catch it either lol.

I've been reading from trials that it would appear that a vaccine is likely going to be multiple jabs because the antibodies don't seem to last very long. Apart from that, I certainly wouldn't want to be one of the first trying a vaccine.

Today NZ had it's first death from Covid in 3 months. That takes the total deaths in NZ to 23 - today's death was the youngest, at 50yrs old.

I went into town and had lunch with my daughter today. When her hubby leaves for work he takes her and g/son into town for him to go to school. There is a school bus but the noise of a bus load of very rowdy school kids would cause big-time agitation re his autism. They get a Metro bus back home after school and my daughter kills time during the day walking around town and visiting the library. Today she had a noon appointment, so we met after it, and had lunch, then we she helped me choose my g/son's Xmas pressie (on special) - it's a 10.2 Inch iPad. His old one is about 8 years old and very slow now. I took them both home after school finished and had a look at how they have been setting up their house. She told me that when I get old(er) and decrepit, AND after I have gotten rid of all my junk, I can go and live in their flat downstairs :-) and she said it actually meaning it, not as a joke.

I showed my daughter my new glasses today. She gets her new lenses this week. The lenses ALONE were $1,000. Her eyes have gone quite a bit backward so the Optometrist has put in a referral for her to go to the Eye OP Clinic. She has had corneal transplants in both eyes re Keratoconus - the first one was done nearly 13 years ago and the other eye about 9 years ago.

I'm glad that you like your new glasses emoticon . also great news about your daughter. I live in a place where almost everybody owns his house , renting is pretty expensive. apartments and houses are pretty expensive too, I had to turn 50 to finally have my own emoticon .
unfortunately I only can contact Danny. Pelos if you ever see this , a mail address would be nice emoticon . Debs too. I will never forget how you helped me when we were all desperate, even if you don't care about me I will always consider you a good friend emoticon
we have more and more cases , nobody "believes " anymore, we had a positive patient last week and got tested , negative , antibodies too. almost no one has antibodies after 6 months , so I don't think a vaccine would help. that IF they manage to make it. honestly I'm tired and the whole way of dealing with it seems futile.

We came down to Level 2.5 yesterday. The only difference between us and the rest of the country is that we aren't allowed more than 10 people in a gathering unless it is a Funeral or Tangihanga (Maori ceremony mourning the dead which generally takes 3 days) in which case there can be up to 50 people. The rest of the country is up to 100 people.

I got my new glasses today. Man, WHAT A DIFFERENCE LOL!

Today is the first day of spring. The days have certainly been warming up.

My daughter and her family shifted last week-end. They have bought the house - it's a doer-upper. They had to leave their rental because the landlord was selling it. The house that they bought their landlord was also selling, but at a much lower price so they just squeaked in re the finances. As my daughter put it, they are now in the land of adulting ... She's 43 and my son-in-law is 50 in a couple months. There is a nice view of the from the kitchen window and from the other side of the house a nice water view looking over the bay.

Have you heard from Danny or any of the guys? Man, I miss them.

glad to hear she's better. I don't understand the general reluctance to prescribe antibiotics everywhere these days. when it's an infection , antibiotic helps. we can deal with the maybe fungus later.
both but mine was only from the nose. no , we have to do it only if we leave for more than 5 days in a row but I suspect they want to find a cluster and turn our hospital into covid only again emoticon . well , no big success for now, there are only 3 or 4 people positive , ALL of them belonging to the same church so they probably didn't catch it on vacation .

My sister's leg is the best it has been for a very long time. The Infection Disease Specialist finally decided to keep her on antibiotics until she can have the venous intervention on her leg. It seems to be working. There was very minimal weepage this a.m. - down from about 20mls per hour to 1.5mls per hour.

How do they do your tests .... nasal swab or throat? Do you have to have tests even after your usual couple days off?

don't worry too much about the virus. if you look at the news it seems apocalyptic here, over 1000 cases/day and it's not. most of them are asymptomatic and don't get sick , old people included. instead there were many deaths of 40 yo people from the heat-strokes and infarcts . in the end it will be contained somehow.
I know that any book doesn't relate diabetes with recurrent infections but in my practice I saw many of the infections were diabetics. I even discovered a ton of cases of diabetes just asking for " unnecessary blood tests " emoticon . we're not so chained by strict protocols here , so I can test a hunch if it's not very bizarre emoticon . so tell her to try to manage her diabetes the best that she can , it can't hurt , right?
it might be a natural behaving of the virus, we also had a period in my region with zero cases. and now there are at least 2 big clusters .
I'm invited at a wedding in September , my best friend's daughter is getting married. I said ok but you'll get me masked. be thankful that I don't come in the complete gear and you would have a themed wedding emoticon .
everything is outside , so I hope it will be ok. and the number of people is restricted

Unfortunately, zero cases no more emoticon We knew it would happen. After 102 days of NO community transmission, 4 people were tested positive yesterday with no known international travel contacts, so looks like it is community transmission. The whole of the Auckland region is in Level 3 lockdown, (so that means only essential work) and that includes me. The rest of the country is level 2.

My sister is being discharged today. I don't know if it is to clear the hospital of non-serious cases, for possible incoming cases (they did that last time) or if they would have discharged her anyway. Yes, she is diabetic however the specialists said it was nothing to do with the diabetes. Perhaps it is just exacerbating the healing process.

It's a bummer that your weight-loss didn't improve your pain. Have you been doing exercises to strengthen your core muscles? I found that this was the most beneficial for my arthritis (spine) and scoliosis pain.

It's great that your Mum is fine and is behaving well emoticon

that's very good , it means inflammation is gone for good andyou're adapting to the new lens.
who am I to judge lol. you don't do surgery when it's a bad infection anywhere, I hope she gets better soon.is she diabetic?
there's almost no change after the weight loss. a (very) little for my back , zero ,nada for the knee and foot and the rest of the body. that makes my nutrionist and doctor very upset lol. " lose weight and you'll be healthier" . yea , right emoticon .
you were on the news here with zero cases. as for the aussies , I believe people are the same everywhere. they don't care about other people . there's a vacation frenzy here, like you die if you don't go to the seaside or somewhere far away. 60% of cases are vacation related.
mom is fine and she behaves very well lol ( now that no one forces her anymore emoticon )

Hi - sorry - missed the message in my inbox emoticon

I finished the drops the day before I went back to Out Patients. I've had no problem since. I've been quite surprised at how my eye is still improving - I'm seeing a lot more clearly out of the operated eye than even a couple weeks ago. I should be getting my new glasses this week.

My brother is allowed to drive again now. He was quite excited when he told me LOL! Don't blame him. He is nowhere near a bus service and no taxi, so he was grounded unless someone came and got him.

My sister is back in hospital (just on a week now) Her Dr ordered a Taxi to get her from her surgery and take her, and she was met at the door by the Dr that her Dr had been talking to, and a Nurse. Here that very seldom happens. She was told she can't have her hip replacement until after they have fixed her leg re recurring infections, which is why she is back in. It goes from below her ankle to just above the calf, and right around the leg. It really looks horrible. The surgeon told her that if they were to do her hip now, she would likely end up with a total leg amputation - from the hip.

Spondylitis isn't a nice condition to have. Have you noticed any reduction in pain from weight-loss? Still on your plastic diet?

New Zealand has gone 101 days with no community transmission of Covid now. Everyone who comes into the country has to go into managed quarantine/isolation at the border. They are taken directly to a bus which only has returnees on board. I feel for Australia - they had almost wiped it, and then with a fair bit of complacency at the border (guards bonking returnees who turned out to have the virus) and then it spread into the community. When those who tested positive were visited at home, 25% were AT WORK or out, when they were supposed to be isolating emoticon It really annoys me. People may not care about THEIR OWN health, but at least they could ensure that they don't affect/infect others. Unfortunately, we can only do what WE as individuals can do. You have the added worry of your Mum.

I miss the guys. I wonder if Danny will rejoin.

I'm glad you're doing well. are you still using eye drops? I'm not really using glasses for reading yet , only sometimes for very small things or some days when I don't see that well. I never could wear the distance glasses , couldn't get used to them.
sorry about your brother.
we have more than 1000 cases daily now but I don't know if there are more sick people than in April , we were testing close to zero that time. we're not as afraid as then cause many of the colleagues had the virus and felt rather well, except 2 persons who are also healed and fine. I'm still doing what I did that time , mask everywhere , washing like crazy and disinfecting everything cause I can't afford to leave my 82 yo mom alone. I still believe we had the stupid thing in December. I don't need to say that things are hectic at work but I have so great pain from the spondylitis that I don't care much about anything else.
but general things are good , I'm not complaining. well except about too many idiots on this planet.

I had my optician appointment yesterday. For the first time in 45 years I am now legally able to drive without glasses, however I can still wear them (new prescription) and will because I see better with the new prescription. Also, they will be anti-glare coated and have my usual self-tinting and find them really helpful when in the car.I get them in a week or so. Also, after a lot of years I no longer need progressive lenses. I hope that they help with reading, tho', because if the print is any smaller than standard size I end up using a magnifying glass.

I'm doing well. Hope you are o.k.

Fortunately, because we haven't had any community transmission for 90 days the press isn't going haywire over their reporting. We get daily updates, and the only other reporting is for those in managed quarantine/isolation and try to do a runner. A couple have been the result of mental health issues. The only ones with it are the dribs and drabs coming back from overseas with it, and they are in isolation or quarantine. So far mostly only 1 or 2 people in a day, with one day where there were 3, and the other days none.

I took my brother (had a stroke in May) to hospital for his followup. He is really wanting to be allowed to drive, but it appears that it will be at least another 3 months. He was a bit gobsmacked today re his BP - 190/110. We went to the hospital cafe for a cuppa after, then I took him shopping. He lives out in the back blocks so doesn't get much opportunity to get groceries. He is reliant on others to bring them to him.

I guess all you can do re masks/prevention is to do YOU and hope to *H* those you come in contact with provide good safety measures too. I'm glad that you have good management at the moment. Hopefully it stays like that!

My son was saying that one of his friends was in the United States (in some of the hot spots) for a fair while, and has gone back to Vancouver BC. He is ASKING ON FACEBOOK if anyone has a couch he can crash on for a couple weeks UNTIL HE GETS HIS COVID RESULTS BACK!!! ... I mean ..... WTF??? Someone asked him what was wrong with a hotel LOL!

I got another Black Box parcel today. My Electricity Supplier normally sends a few times a year, but Covid kind-of put a dampener on it. Today's one wasn't as much as usual, but was still quite good .... especially for FREE emoticon

I broke my CPAP headgear last night. I had to do a bit of a makeshift jiggle around to get it workable so I could use it, and ordered another one this a.m. $189 later emoticon The suppliers are generally very quick. I suppose they have to be re essential medical equipment. Anyway, if history repeats, it will be here tomorrow and the next day which isn't bad considering it is coming up from the South Island, and then has to be transported by courier to my town and then be sorted for my Rural Delivery guy.

I miss the guys. I HOPE that they come back, but I'm not holding my breath.

An excited Mamma here. I don't know if you recall my mentioning a while back that a program my son (who is a Supervisor in his department re 3D Animation) worked on - Dragon Prince - was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award. Well, today they WON it emoticon Another winning program he can add to the notices in his belt LOL!

I'm glad to hear that you're well. ouch , glasses are expensive there! well here too but I wear some bought from the store lol. I don't really need them , let's don't say yet lol .
about work yes and no. yes cause at some point we thought they will close ophthalmology for good. no cause wearing those FPP3 masks for 8 hours is horrible. people complain about wearing the simple masks for an hour or two but the other ones are much worse. I'm dizzy and nauseated all the time and have to inhale tons of disinfectants. well , one day it will pass or we will not pay attention to it anymore emoticon . we report more and more cases , the officials are hysterical but if you do the math , we have 4 % of tests positive and in April it was 18 %. so it's going down, even if the officials say the opposite.
I don't think you have glaucoma , there is a high eye pressure caused by the swelled cataracted lens which disappears after the surgery.
take care of you emoticon
you too guys! emoticon

Kori - I had my follow-up appointment at the hospital today. The swelling in my eye has now gone, and the surgeon is very pleased with the result. My vision in that eye has improved a lot compared with where it was at the previous follow-up 4 weeks ago. He said that they aren't worried about glaucoma because it is still a question-mark as to whether it is that or not, and said that the pressure in my eyes are low/normal. I go back in a year's time and they will reassess my other eye then. In the meantime I can now get my eyes checked re new lenses. Before surgery I wasn't paying just on $1,000 to have to turn around and change them again soon after.

Are you enjoying being back at work?

There are a number of people here who claim that the virus is FAKE and that it is the press and the governments manufacturing this misinformation to 'control' us. Try telling that to the people who have been unfortunate enough to get it, and have their lives either taken from them, or had extremely serious side-effects. At least the only cases here now are those who are returning from overseas, and they are being caught while in an at least 2 week managed quarantine. If they have 2 clear tests (3rd day back and 12th day) then they can leave quarantine after 14 days, provided they don't have any symptoms. We've only been getting one or two cases in a day since we came out of lock-down.

pretty much alive , thank you! emoticon
we have a ton of new cases BUT, this time they test pretty much compared to spring so I don't think there are actually more cases than before. people got crazy, not wearing masks and crowding everywhere. the last trends are " the virus doesn't exist " and " I don't believe in coronavirus" lol.
thanks for letting us know that you're alive emoticon . how are the other two guys?

I'm helping my girls in the sorting tent, there were 36 C inside yesterday. we're no more covid hospital but a few cases reappeared in the town , no wonder , no one respects anything anymore emoticon . other than constant severe pain , I'm fine emoticon

I had wondered why they were see-through. I mean, it would have to be plastic or similar, and that would be a lot hotter I imagine. I don't think that nurse would be too worried if she were naked under the clear coat LOL! MInd you, she's got a body to be proud of. I bet her male patients would be absolutely WONDERFUL to/for her, but think their sickness might last a bit longer than reality LOL!

My eye has been really good since I've been back on the eye drops. I got my follow-up appointment today for July 16th.

honestly she's right. I only wear those flimsy gowns on top of regular hospital suit, mask , glasses and head gear and it's still pretty cold. the dehydration is great and you feel like fainting on everyone all the time. I also tried to wear something thin under " the pheasant suit" . but why do they have transparent gear emoticon ? ours is white and you can safely be naked in it emoticon

Thanks for the tip re the teeth and sinuses. I hadn't really thought about that aspect. The good news is, my eye hasn't been stinging or watering AT ALL since I started back on them. Them steroid is the same one I was on previously, the anti-inflammatory is Voltaren, which is a different one to before.

I hope that Pelos comes back. I am really sad that Danny and Debs left, but understand why.

I saw in the news on Russian Nurse wearing protective gear but ensuring that she was comfortable re the heat generated.

sometimes the inflammation starts later.it did start when you stopped the first eyedrops because those probably had steroids or other anti inflammatory and those were keeping inflammation low. take care to not have any inflammation anywhere not treated , especially teeth on that side or sinuses .I'm glad somebody ssaw you and gave you treatment.
wow , you still have so strict rules! here people are idiots not wearing masks anymore and crowding everywhere. there is just one patient left with covid in the hospital but still alert state and it started to spread in counties where there were few cases until now. it's hot and the protective gear is enough to kill us lol. the idiots can do what they want , I will always wear a mask in the mall from now on. nobody is sick of any respiratory stuff since everyone was wearing them. we still can't even test all the patients that are hospitalized , there would be no way to test people who just want to leave town, which is still restricted btw. theoretically , I saw a ton of videoclips with folks on the beaches in Greece. pretty ,much alone lol. imagine to have a little golf just for yourself lol
take care of you, you too guys if anyone sees it! emoticon

I had my appointment down at the Surgical Centre today. You were right. I do need more drops. Another month of a steroid eye drop, 4 times daily, and a month of an anti-inflamatory eye drops 4 times daily. They did a scan and said that there is inflammation and showed me the fluid capsules in my eye. I have to go back down in a month's time. The Dr told me that my eye is healing more slowly than usual. But what I forgot to ask is why it was good for 4 weeks, and THEN decided to start stinging and watering. It coincides with when I stopped the other eye drops, so I guess that COULD have something to do with it????

We had 2 more cases of Covid confirmed yesterday. We KNEW that it would happen, however those supposed to be keeping an eye on them weren't, and the two women were allowed to leave early to go to their mother who died that night. (Auckland to Wellington which is a few hours drive.) NO-ONE is supposed to leave without having had covid tests, but they were told that they COULD leave but to get tested in Wellington. NOT how it works and as a result, us Kiwis are up in arms about it. It wasn't the Government or the Ministry of Health that stuffed up, but the people working in the system not following the explicit directives that have been given. Today another confirmed case - he arrived in the country yesterday and was still in Isolation.

Thanks Kori. It isn't conjunctivitis. It appears to be sting/water more when there is a glare - either from my computer screen for from outside. The last couple weeks the sky has been very glary. When it is stinging/watering, the whites of my eye is white, just like normal, but other times it kindof feels like soap has got into it, but I haven't been using soap. I have had a watery (not stingy) eye problem plus blepharitis for a few months that the Dr said was the result of blocked tear ducts and got me to wash around my eyes with baby shampoo (for non stinging) and massage the glands with fairly hot flannel to help unblock them. I've been using the fairly warm/damp flannel (not with the baby shampoo) since the cataract removal and it helps soothe. I've also taken to wearing dark clip-on's over my ordinary glasses to watch TV during the day or if I go outside and that helps. Funny thing is, for about 3 weeks post op I never had a problem at all.

I go down to the Out Patients on Thursday.

Hopefully your Covid cases will be no more, and a thing of the past.

lol , probably none of the colours is real emoticon . the lens filters almost all UV and the aging lens blocks a part of the blue light . don't wipe the eye, just press(very light press , not on the globe) with a very soft tissue then throw it away. you should call the surgeon , is the eye red? do you still see well? it hurts if the light is bright?you might have just a conjunctivitis but better talk with the doctor if you can. maybe you need eye drops again.
I'm glad covid is gone there. slowly it disappears here too but they still want to keep the " alert state " . alert for what , we have 3 patients in the hospital emoticon

I went into town to get groceries today (I had run out of bananas LOL)

Anyway prior to leaving I got the shock of my life. I pulled out a red jumper to wear. The eye the cataract was removed from (5 weeks ago now) has been stinging and watering quite a bit the last couple weeks. I had thought it might be glare. Anyway, today it started to sing and water, while I was looking at my red jumper. I closed my right eye and wiped it and noticed that the red got brighter. So I closed my other eye (cataract still to be done on that one) and all of a sudden, the red became almost a maroon. Now I don't know what real colour it is LOL! The first thing I noticed after my op was out of the operated on eye the sky became much more blue.

Anyway, today is the 18th day in a row with no new Covid cases, and the 2nd day with no known active cases in the country. It is also the first day of Level 1, which means that things are back to normal except our borders are closed.

Thank you Pelos for liking me :-) I am white .... LILLY White. I only get a very faint tan in the summer but then I'm the person who can get sunburn blisters in winter LOL!

I hope Danny wasn't anywhere there. It is so sad what is happening everywhere. It is so sad the events that lead up to the protests. None of it should happen. We should ALL be one.

waaah , why can't people mind their own business? anyway please stay , I don't want to lose any of you emoticon . you helped me in a very traumatic period of my life emoticon . I'm white in a part of the world where that doesn't matter , 51 , not sure about the boomer thing emoticon , can't Kris and me compensate a little? emoticon
Kris , it's ok if you misplaced the drops emoticon , nothing bad will happen , I'm terrible with eyedrops myself ,so I can't scold any patient emoticon
Danny please don't leave,it's not worthy . it doesn't matter, what matters is to follow the truth in your heart no matter what people say and I know that your heart is one of the bests that I saw and will never hurt anyone and will make the world a better place someday. don't pay attention to the insignificant people who don't approve you emoticon , I'm really proud of you cause you care. don't go anywhere though, it's dangerous and at any protests no matter for what ,people who just want to fight and break something will gather

Danny - We've seen a lot of the protests and the lead up to them here, too. I can understand people venting their frustrations and anger, but that is NOT the way to do it! emoticon Stay safe, and stay home!!!!

Last night I went to put my steroid eye drop into my eye. Only thing is, I put it into the WRONG FLAMING EYE lol! emoticon My son-in-law is going to see if he can get time off work to take me to the follow-up Eye Appointment on 18th June.

It is a full week since NZ has had a new Covid case diagnosed, and there is only 1 known active case in the entire country. Very few ended up in hospital and there have been 22 deaths, altho' one of them is treated as covid-related, because she had been hospitalized in a bad way with a positive test, and after improving considerably she twice tested negative before she was discharged back to her Rest Home. She died a couple weeks later. We have come down to being able to gather in groups of up to 100 people, but when it is numbers like that, or in restaurants etc. we have to give name/ph number etc. and if it is with people we know, just keep a minimum of 1 metre from others.

don't go , crowds are unpredictable, there are safer ways to state your position. everyone who knows you is fully aware of how much you hate racism and now it's even more complicated because of the restrictions that everyone hates. police isn't very popular anywhere these days , we have huge scandals because of abusive fines , nobody had many human rights these days , even if many didn't realize it. I felt like a jew in the nazi Germany and it's not over yet.
we don't have many cases , it almost disappeared. despite people being idiots. my theory is that the virus mutated and it's not that contagious anymore. and I'm wondering how many of the asymptomatics were actually false positive tests. our officials still threaten with a second wave but nobody believes them anymore . this situation was very convenient for some people.
I think you told me and I forgot, I'm sorry , it won't happen again emoticon
sorry to hear that, Pelos emoticon emoticon

why didn't I hear anything about him liking dragons and animated series ? emoticon I don't have netflix but maybe I'll find a way to watch it too. about meditation , I think the easiest way is just paying attention to your breath. just find a really comfy position or you will be paying attention to all sort of aches instead.
I'm fine . going back to work Tuesday. the hospital is a chaos , I'm supposed to organize the ambulatory, everyone is fighting, we had about 8 sets or such of managers, the health legislation changed , it will change back in a month and so on.remember LOTR when the ring made all of them fight? that's us but without a Frodo. I wonder why my new BP is 18 emoticon . the virus seems to slowly disappear on his own . unfortunately almost no one wears masks outside anymore and I don't want to hear how the masks are not good. there were almost no people coughing or sneezing until now, people weren't catching the common colds as much as before.
how is everyone's health? your relatives , Danny?your eye , Kris? Pelitos?

Hola! I noticed the topic, it caught my eye, and I was curious so I measured my wrist. It is 5 7/8" and I'm 5' 8" tall so I'm definitely small framed. Interesting...though I'm pretty sure I already knew that. emoticon

Danny , I'm with Kris in this . if the neighbors are ok ,stay there. this is not the right time to bump into another weirdo , psychopath or even not so clean neighbor.we don't know when it will end , worst case you will lose some money. money can be made again. if you will find some stellar job there , the lease will not count much. unfortunately you can't go home now to find a decent doctor so better avoid them for now.

Do the leases HAVE to be on a annual thing? Here we don't normally do it like that. I almost think if it were me, I would stay put until all this is over. You have a job, and don't have to be a job-hunter along with thousands of others who may/may not get another job.

I guess where ever you are in the world, there are always some Drs who are like that.

Danny - My unqualified opinion is that the system the States has re Insurance actually increases the cost of medical care, significantly. I knew that they charged an arm and a leg, but my mouth dropped open when I saw your costs. Here the Dr's have a list of costs in the waiting room and on-line. My Dr's medical centre charges $19 per consult. My medications are mostly $5 each until I reach 20 scripts for the year (over half way there in 3 months) and then they will mostly be free. Our labs are free. A Specialist charges a lot more per consult if you go private, however a lot of us go on the Hospital waiting list and it is free. A Dr doesn't walk in/out of a consult UNLESS he/she is also seeing to someone in a very serious condition.

Glad your results came back 'kind of Ok' - but I would have preferred to hear 'TOTALLY O.k.' It's great that you are getting such a good bonus for working during this.

I think that in general a lot of people have their heads in the sand over the pandemic. They put 'their rights' to do whatever they like above all else and stuff everybody else. Boris Johnson changed his tune totally after he nearly died from it, and so too did this guy
www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2585703598310531

Kori - I LUV'd Dr Quinn :-) BTW - you are NOT OLD ... you are YOUNGER than me and *I* am not *OLD* lol. Spondylitis isn't a nice condition to have.

I've only go 3 more days of one lot of drops to go in my eye and then the other type I am also using will be another 2 weeks. That's the only thing about the surgery that annoys LOL!

I don't understand how a lot of online consults work. I know that a lot can easily be done that way, but there are a lot where you really need to totally eyeball the patient (no pun intended given your specialty LOL) and do a literal hands-on approach. In NZ 75% of the medical consults were over the phone during the lock-down. My post-op appt. was over the phone.

Pelos I'm glad you like your Latina sunshine ;-)

Now for something cute .... TJ. When my son and son-in-law came back in February, they gave him Mickey Mouse gumboots (what else when the givers are total cartoon/animation nerds LOL)

still at home and starting to enjoy it emoticon . the hospital is still closed , God knows why , there are really few patients left. we had like 6 managers in 2 months , the local authorities from 2 different political parties fight each other using us in the middle , life is fun. my spondylitis sort of exploded , I was totally stiff last week , using mom's wheelchair (she calls it "the bike" ) , now it's better but I'm still having great pain.meanwhile I'm solving stuff in the 2 houses , like buying a fridge and a washing machine for the other apartment before the mall will reopen and people will sleep there for 3 months emoticon
you're absolutely right Danny about doctors there , that was one of the reasons I never wanted to emigrate , medicine there is a business, I hate it. here I can still consult anyone without caring about insurance, especially emergencies . if I need 3 hours for a complicated case then I keep him 3 hours and we always can chat with nice people. you can't consult properly more people on the same time and even if you can , they don't understand anything.well , USA is famous for one of the worst health insurance in the world. best surgery , lab tests, advanced medical equipment, but everything giga expensive. why didn't you ask me? emoticon I hope lab tests results were good. please tell me when you have something , I might be an ophthalmologist and old emoticon but the system here forces me to be a sort of doctor Quinn (even if colleagues tell me I'm more like dr House but nah , I'm not that smart , though my foot hurts like his' lol). well , do that on whatsapp, I'm sure it's not allowed to say anything here. even if an online consultation is NOT and it will never be a real consultation. if the patient is not in front of you , it's just medical chatting and divination and taking money for that is a fraud emoticon

Thank you Kori. Her just-turned 13yr old son made her a cup of coffee in bed for mother's day, and then repeated it the next day for her birthday. He needed some supervision, and it may sound like 'so what?" however this is the first time ever he has made a drink, let alone a coffee, and given his autism it is a major achievement, and particularly for those two occasions emoticon

It amuses me when they use "alert" in that context. Boris Johnson did too. We should ALL be "alert" regardless, and not just with Covid LOL!

I was really surprised to see how BLUE the sky actually is looking from my right eye. I had thought it was a murky blue all summer LOL! My left eye still says it is a murky blue. At this stage I can see some things better out of that eye, but not others - depends how far away they are.

I had s real good sleep last night and no pain discomfort at all. The inner corner of my eye is only slightly bloodshot. The dressing came off this a.m. the Dr phoned me this a.m. and is happy. I go back down for a check in about a month. No worries about lifting weights. I've been on weight restrictions for years. Only supposed to be a maximum of 5kg. I will be careful .... Promise 😁 I had thought outside would be too much of a glare, but found it wasn't. My glasses are self tinting outside, so wonder if I'll actually need to wear dark clip-ons over my glasses. Our days aren't bright glarey days like in summer. I'm driving home tomorrow. I think I noticed an improvement in my right eye vision compared to this a.m. which then was about the same as normal ..... MAYBE a tiny bit improved on pre-op.

the surgery nowadays is with minimal trauma ,so most people are feeling well after it. just don't lift anything heavy and beware dust , allergens , steam or anything that could harm the eye. you should already be used with the don't touch your eye rule lol . I suppose they removed the bandage by now , how is it?
it seems in 2 weeks or such they will reopen my hospital for regular patients.it's complicated cause there still are corona carriers but I hope we'll manage. I'm glad that "life" got in the way of the plans of those who were hoping to make profit from the coronavirus, that didn't go too well emoticon ( I hope it stays that way , few patients to none)
someone please tell Debs that we miss him emoticon
Pelos , are you all right now? it took me 4 months to recover from the january pneumonia , I'm almost sure it was the virus but I'm afraid to take the test yet , there are many false positive or negative results and I don't want to be hospitalized for 6 weeks , I usually die in 2 days there emoticon

Thanks Pelos. I had it today and came out of the theatre at 12:30 my Motel was a very easy walk. It turned out I didn't need to stay here overnight because they will phone me in the a.m. to check, and I don't have to go in. I kinda gulped at the Taxi this a.m. when I asked the price when I booked, the owner thought about $140. It was $175.50 each way. He's picking me up at 10 a.m. beats getting picked up at 6:30a.m. like this a.m. 😂 😎 this will be me tomorrow.
I will stay at my daughter's again tomorrow night. So far, 9:30p.m. I haven't had any pain, discomfort or irritation. It just feels like normal except I've got a dressing over my eye.

Kori - NZ has only ever had a maximum of about 12 cases in hospital at any one time, and only a max of 3-4 in ICU. As of today 20 Covid deaths total - none today and no new cases today either. Where I am having the op is a day stay and OP Clinics mainly for Respiratory, Renal, and Ophthalmology, and isn't attached to the main hospital.

Danny - I read a LOT of that tweet. It was powerful and anyone who claims it is just 'scaremongering' really needs their head read. UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, was verging on that for quite a while and was saying it was best to allow for herd immunity, but man, did he change his tune after he got it and nearly died. Those with their heads in the sand tend to focus too much on those who have been asymptomatic or just very mild symptoms, but what should they ignore the many MANY others who have had it more serious. If it were them, they would also change their tune. Some people have to experience something for it to sink in. It's all very well protesting to be able to go back to work or be able to have parties, etc. but what good is that when they have died because they didn't practice caution?

Don't crop ALL your tshirts and hoodies - when it is cooler they won't be as warm LOL!

When someone asks you what you like doing for fun, state what you said here. Maybe they might be able to think of a way you can enjoy that where you are, too.

I want a pic of your face mask with you wearing it :-)

Kris , I'm glad to hear that , it's a sign things are almost normal there. well , idk , my friend in France also started to work again, even if they still have tons of cases. my hospital is still covid only and ophthalmology is closed ._. , right now it's a dormitory for the others . we have like 1/7 beds occupied with patients in the hospital , which makes me quite rabid , no , I'm not enjoying it Danny cause idk what happens next and I wish they would let me go to work and do something , they seem to have zillions of extra papers to do , why can't they let me do that. both my colleagues said it would be impossible for me to put on and off the stupid suit and we're all tired of the stupid situation and wish the hospital would open for the other patients too , there seem to be few cases and few serious. people are going out like crazy here too even if the relaxation will only come from 15th May.
I'm glad that you, your family and bf are fine. just remind everyone to keep a distance and keep the habits of washing and disinfecting and it will be fine.
I'm sure you will find later that sewing machine , I miss to see your crafting too emoticon .
how are the prices there? here they skyrocketed , food and everything is at least 3 times more expensive emoticon

Yep, I will. I managed to get 500mls Alcohol Sanitizer a couple weeks ago, and I've always got bucket-loads of surgical gloves here and there are always some in whatever handbag I'm using. A remnant of my First Aider days LOL. I'm taking plenty of the sanitizer to spray on the loo seat, etc. to let sit for a while before I use it.

They Taxi drivers MUST sanitize the seats and headrests, door etc. and anything else a client might touch, between each passenger.

Have you thought about doing some hand-sewing or embroidering a plain teeshirt with a little motif for relaxation?

That photo sure doesn't look like any social distancing going on. If that had been in NZ they would have had the bums' rush and more than a few would have been fined.

I have watched some of the protests in the States, and read that one of the organizers came down with Covid-19. I think Boris Johnson (UK Prime Minister) hastily changed his mind about the 'bit of flu' when he came down with it. By all accounts, he nearly died.

I think when you shifted there, you didn't become 'really boring' at all, but rather more settled in yourself and the fact you mention "4 years" and "time flies" indicates that you are more settled. What's the saying? "Time flies when you're having fun!"

Danny - I don't have much option about a taxi, unfortunately, but by law at the moment, the passenger must sit in the back, diagonally from the driver, and the driver has to wear a mask, and payment has to be contactless. Because we have been in a harder lock-down than most countries, we have been having to stay in our own homes and not travel. Cops were on the roads en force and turning people around if they couldn't show proof of why they were on the road, and the proof had to be for groceries or medical. They have even followed a couple to where they were going to ensure that they were telling the truth. They had taken the driver's physical driver's license off him to be given back at their destination LOL! The motel is one that the hospital suggested to me 2-3 months ago. Because of the lock-down, they have virtually been closed, and I had a look online. It has wonderful reviews, including for cleanliness.

Our malls, restaurants and shops are still closed, however we can order online and have them couriered, OR use 'click and collect' - again, contactless.

I can understand your dreams. I have read quite a few psychologists' various articles which all state that situations such as what we are facing globally now, trigger a large percentage of people to have restless sleep, weird dreams or nightmares. I've been affected by them too. I'm not noticeably stressed about the situation, however it obviously plays on our subconscious. I don't work or get out, so my risks are lower than yours.

What are they doing in the photo? Having a water party?

I've got some news!!

I'm getting my Cataract Surgery on Wednesday. The hospital phoned me yesterday a.m. Since we have dropped from Level 4 to Level 3 lock-down, and as the new Covid cases are single digits now, the hospitals are taking some elective surgery cases again.

I'm going to stay at my daughter's on Tuesday night so it will save 20 minutes on on my travel which will still be over an hour. It means I won't have to get up QUITE so early in the a.m. I have booked into a Motel about 400 metres from the hospital because I have to go back the following day, and then a taxi will take me back to my daughter's on Thursday. $140 EACH WAY for the taxi :-( I will possibly stay at my daughter's Thursday night too, before I drive home on Friday.

Good one Kori. 11th May is my daughter's birthday. Hopefully it can be extended.

Pelos - I loved the sea lion LOL! VERY talented emoticon

We moved down to Level 3 lock-down today, but it is fairly similar to Level 4. Some work has opened but it has to be contactless and doesn't include Malls, hairdressers etc. For me it is really no different, however I don't mind. Corona-virus has been deemed 'eliminated' in NZ .... not eradicated. The new cases have dropped way down in the single digits on a daily basis.

from what I understood the hyper immune reaction in severe cases appears in the 2nd week or 3rd week so he should pass the dangerous phase soon. your aunt sounds fine , I hope she stays that way. there were here many people very old or very sick that recovered just fine , there is hope for anyone. just tell you parents to be as careful as they can emoticon . and keep us posted please

I hope that your family recover very soon, Danny.

It is quite possible that you guys may have had the virus without knowing it. I guess that when an accurate test to determine if you have HAD it come in, you would be able to find out.

I'm just glad I haven't had to mix with others and am mostly in my own bubble, and NZ's positive and probable cases is quite low at 1470 and deaths at 18. This isn't just those tested or died in a hospital - it includes Rest Homes and the general community as well.
