After Spark

Saturday, June 12, 2021

I am trying out Spark 360. So far, the "simplified" interface is frustrating me. I do like the way it will make intuitive eating easier to feel good about. The Spark Coach feature is weird to me. Some of the things should be done in the morning and some in the evening, but they are all mixed up together in a linear process that doesn't really track with that. So, yeah, probably won't spend a lot of time there unless my employer decides to get involved.

I am also trying out FatSecret. It looks a bit more like this version of Spark than 360 does. Not as slick, and not as gamefied. Actually it looks like MFP and Spark had a child. Anyway, you can log food if you want. You can blog (it's called a journal over there). I'm still trying it out. I don't have any friends there yet, but I'd love to see some of you over there. My link over there is www.fatsecret.co

I have been on MFP for longer than Spark. To be honest, I hate it. The people in the forums/groups are not as supportive as they are here. There are a lot of predatory men. The web interface is terrible, and they have no intention of updating it. I've asked multiple times. For instance, you can't upload pictures if you're using the web interface. Also, the web interface is buggy. Anytime they mess with the code, you are likely to lose your friend feed for days at a time. Honestly, they should just offer the phone app and shut down the web version if they aren't going to keep it current. The phone app is, unfortunately, a memory hog, and I have old eyes that don't enjoy using phone apps much. The very day I learned that Spark was closing down, I had decided to leave MFP. I'm not putting my MFP link here because I'm 98% out the door there already.

I'll finish my Noom subscription at the end of the month. At that time, I might also try a FB group, so if you have a recommendation for one there, let me know.
