Fanciful Friday

Friday, May 21, 2021

We are all given 24 hours everyday. Currently I'm on day 10 of a new 21 day meditation program. I like meditating. It calms me, slows my breathing.
So why do I need this program to refresh my meditating? My practice falls off when the twenty one days programs finishes. But this is something I like doing, why does fall away?
It is not just the meditation but making any changes I fall back to my old way of doing things.
Yes some tiny bits may stick, but most of it doesn't.

What is holding me back from making these changes?
What can I do make it stick?

❤️ Grateful -
Zoom classes.
Sunny days.

I think what interferes with a "formal" mediation practice for me (and it's something I was introduced to in my late teens early twenties when the Transcendental Mediation thing was big news with the Beatles!) has always been the idea that I must "effort" at it that I must push away distracting thoughts etc. I'm now with Three Principles approach treating mediation more as a constant with the "distracting thoughts" something I might note but not pay a lot of attention to . . . like the TV in the sports bar. Less discipline has meant more stickiness!

And yes: love to munch on nasturtiums: blossoms OR leaves in salads or sandwiches or omelettes!!

You recently gave me the great idea of putting SP on my phone so I don't have to miss logging in. I did that, and now have to learn to use it. Have a wonderful day.
