Sunday Salutations

Sunday, April 25, 2021

I'm listening to Sunday morning Breakfast With the Beatles on a local radio station, enjoying some quiet time.

I started my day as I have been for several weeks... doing a short yoga flow to the song Green Mountain State....

Then some dancing along with a Shine Dance Fitness video on youtube. Today's pick for Sunday self-care was Kelly Clarkson's Broken and Beautiful...

I had some breakfast, then went for a walk. It was cool and cloudy but very invigorating!

I think I started my morning yoga and dance habit back in February to help with some emotions that leave me feeling lethargic. There have been many mornings when I thought, 'um, no NOT today!' Then I tell myself it is especially important to do it on those days. It all takes less than ten minutes and I always feel better.

Last night, I noticed that today is national mani-pedi day. What a coinkidink, I booked a pedicure for today after my massage appointment. The reason I booked this appointment was to celebrate the end of this school term and the challenges that I faced taking Microeconomics and Applied Humanities at the same time.

It has been a very rough eight weeks getting through this term! There were some dark days. Post-divorce emotions are a constant, my boss was fired and work stress is also a constant.

My running stamina has suffered due to the amount of sitting that I've been doing between work and homework. So I made a plan... going back to 2:30 run/1 min walk intervals twice a week for three miles to build myself back up.

I want to go kayaking this summer so I made a plan. I found an article on the REI website to train for kayaking. I am not strong enough to handle that right now, but I can be by summer.

I still go to therapy weekly which is very beneficial. Many times, I go thinking 'I've got nothing to talk about' and end up talking about a lot. I always leave feeling like I had a great run, a nice hot shower, and very relaxed. Those nights are the best night's sleep; my mind doesn't feel the need to start racing when I lay down.

I have this week off of school, then I start Business Law for eight weeks. Just one class this time. I need a breather. Now that most of my family, friends and I have been fully vaccinated, I plan to start reconnecting with people I care about.

I hope you are all doing well and finding small, daily habits that make you feel good. Don't forget to plan a treat for yourself.

So glad to see a blog from you. You have been thru a tough time, but you have a plan. Therapy is very important and helpful
The run/walk intervals will return you to top form. We are looking for a tandem kayak. we have single ones but figure double the paddle power will help us keep up with family better.

Wow! Lots going on in your life. Glad you have a little breather from school. It does get intense.

Good for you for pursuing kayaking lessons. Sounds like fun (albeit cold in the 40 degree weather we're having! No bad, but being in the water . . . BRRrrrr).

With all that and the pandemic, I'd say you're doing well.

Good for you, pacing yourself through a very demanding time at home, at school and at work . . . wow!! And of course during a pandemic too!!

Therapeutic support through a divorce can help so much.

Kellie I love how you have taken such good care of yourself this past year. You should be extremely proud of yourself. We can all learn something from you.
Good luck with getting back into running and getting your body ready for kayaking.

I think we are all so ready to see our family and friends again. Hubby and I are suppose to get our second shots sometime in July. The Canadian government has us waiting four months between our first and second shot. We still have awhile to go unfortunately
