Wow what a seven days ..

Saturday, April 17, 2021

Last Saturday was clean the house day .. ( Mom's house) that is finally empty day .. big big job .. now just the yard work to do .. rake and sweep up sidewalks .. trim perennials and loosen the soil around them .. wash the deck .. and done ..
I did show the house last Wednesday to three families .. ( had to shovel snow for a half hour to get to the steps at either door .. holy smokes we received 14 inches of snow .. both here and at home .. so I have had my shovel workouts thats for sure ...
The one family I was certain would be the perfect family for the home loved it .. but they of course have a home to sell .. I really don't want to put the house on hold with a condition .. so I'll keep praying for either their house to sell super fast .. or another interested buyer to appear .. I have decided that I am going to list the house .. I've got my eyes on garden projects as well as painting projects at the cottage .. I'll let the professional handle the sale .. I hope to meet with them either today or tomorrow .. it is a couple that they both are agents .. I'm sure they will have great success.

I have oodles of plants started .. hopefully next week the weather will be warm enough I can start setting them outside to harden off .. tomatoes three kinds .. cucumbers .. beans .. squash .. parsley .. basil .. petunia regular and doubles .. 7 trays of seeds planted from a stash that I found at moms from the 90's .. I think I might as well of saved my time and effort .. they have been planted 10 days now and not a sight of life .. ha ha .. but at least I tried right .. never know unless you try ..
My hubby made me a new garden spot behind the back yard garage .. lots of sun .. a down spout to collect rain water at each end of the space .. south facing with east and west exposure .. protected from the wind .. yahoo .. it will be the perfect space to have cucumbers climb against the garage ..flowers to attract the bees ... a spot for tomatoes .. peas .. carrots and beets .. I'll have my usual garden space for beans .. corn ... potatoes .. squash .. dill .. and flowers for cutting ..
My friend and I are planting milk thistle this year .. I have at least 90 plants to transplant then harden off .. I'll be planting them just inside the chain link fence in hopes of attracting monarch butterflies on their migration .. the milk thistle is a perennial .. the package said 3 weeks to germinate .. well these seeds were sprouted in three days and repotted in soil after 5 days .. healthy looking little fellas .. maybe today I'll set them outside for a breath of fresh air .. I'm definitely going to need more larger pots if I have to transplant them ..

Yes I've been super busy .. yet I haven't been on track with my food .. back to the lumberjack mentality .. I convince myself if I have worked hard I can eat hardy .. well not any more sweet cheeks .. the extra 20 pounds I've battled for two years just gets more stubborn .. any little slip and I am back to where this body feels comfortable .. today .. yes a Saturday I will begin again to make a conscience effort to eat well .. but only half as much as I want .. walk away .. have a nice cup of tea with some fruit .. and be done ..
12 grain cereal cooking for breakfast .. I will add cinnamon and apple sauce to it this morning .. this hardy breakfast will keep me energized for hours ..
I'm thankful I hadn't raked the yard before the snow came .. so all those little critters that live under the leaves had a nice warm home to hide in from this latest winter event .. I'm thinking it should be warm enough soon to start tidying up each area .. getting everybody happy and tended to looking forward to a wonderful growing season .. It was so desperately dry last fall I pray my ferns .. hostas .. lily of the valley and other plants survive ..

Well for me its the first Saturday at home in weeks .. I'm so looking forward to it ..
regardless of what your weekend brings dear friends be happy .. smile and be ..
as well would you pray for this amazing country of mine .. Canada .. what ever is taking place here .. Stinks .. totally stinks ..
My soul knows something just doesn't make sense .. to any of this global hysteria ... evil is at work ..
sending you what ever you may need in this moment in time ..
now crank the music ..
I can see clearly now the rain is gone

... its going to be a bright .. bright .. bright sunshiny day !!!

In our larger cities, if a house comes on the market, it seldom stays on the
market for a week and in some cases, only a day. We will have houses to
sell in town, maybe this summer, but those all need to be cleaned out first. I am
trying to imagine getting everything out, sold or given away. Maybe
this year there will be auction sales again, pandemic permitting.

What a busy week, my friend! So glad the house is ready to be shown, when the buyer is right it will all work out. I am envious of your gardening skills and knowledge - I am one of those people who can merely look at a plant and kill it. How nice that you have a great sunny spot behind your garage for your plantings! My husband is the one who plants, weeds, waters and tends to our small patch of tomatoes and zucchini while I am the one trying to find recipes to use it all up in as everything seems to be ripe overnight and all at the same time, haha!

We also got snow - a freak April Nor'easter, we were figuring on rain but got a few inches of heavy wet snow that was NO fun to drive and walk in as I had to be out and about for my pre-op appointment during the height of it. All is back to normal now, a bit chilly, but the flowers and trees are still budding and blooming and all snow has melted.

Enjoy the week, my friend - fingers crossed that the house sells soon!

Well done, my friend! You're making so much progress with your Mom's old house, and I'm sure it will sell soon. I can't say I blame you about the contingency, though. I was lucky - I had a buyer when I made the offer on this house, so it was easier for the ladies to accept it. Yes, it could have fallen through, but it was unlikely to.

If you have the space, replant those trays with things you want! If you run out of space, give them away to neighbors or sell them on FB Marketplace.

You know my prayers are with Canada and you. Scary times, but we can't let evil win. emoticon
