Mary Poppins was right. Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.
Rather than saying no to all treats, I have found a delicious small treat to have after dinner. I only have about 3 small bites of the frozen chocolate cake, but I eat it slowly and with a cup of tea. This small snack keeps me feeling satisfied. I don't go looking for other treats.
According to Dr Jean Kristeller of Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness, our taste buds tire quickly, and our taste buds can only get the full benefit of the first few bites? Mindful eating makes a big difference. Eating my treat slowly helps me enjoy the treat longer. One frozen cake from Pepperidge Farms gives me 12 small servings.
