Chapter 38, Day 24

Monday, April 05, 2021

Yes, I was into the chocolate yesterday. More than I should have been. A calorie topper, for sure.

Seems my sciatic is acting up a bit after using the gym machines for the lowers. I will keep walking to walk it out.

Yesterday's Easter celebration was a nice one with the youngest son's family and 2 of our friends. Everyone has been vaccinated or has had covid so the risks were minimal.

Family was hoping for our first in-person visit with MIL in skilled care. It was cancelled by the facility due to another staff case of covid. Such a disappointment.

Today.....back on Plan.

It's a great day to have a great day!

Glad that you were able to have a nice family gathering but sorry you couldn't visit your MIL. I'm surprised all long term care home staff have not been vaccinated which would make having a case among the staff far less likely.

It's so different in Canada! We have not had our vaccinations. My MIL and FIL have had theirs. They are in their 80's. My mother has not had hers yet but will be getting it next week. She is almost 86.
When we spoke to my in-laws yesterday they said it will be 12 weeks before their 2nd vaccination. I was absolutely crushed to hear that. What's the trouble? We do not have manufacturing facilities here in Canada to get the vaccine out fast enough. If my in-laws won't have their 2nd shot for 12 weeks, what does that mean for me and my partner and traveling back to Manitoba for my dad's memorial service this summer? 12 weeks is 3 months! Maybe we'll get some help from our U.S. neighbours? I sure hope so.

Coincidently, my sciatica has been acting up lately too. I'm definitely doing the same as you, walking it out.
I'm glad you had a nice Easter with the family, I did too!

Have a great day, buddy! emoticon
