Fitness Goals at 79
Tuesday, March 23, 2021
I had a serious internal guts surgery 3 years ago. I was in shape and fairly lean at 190. The surgeon thanked me for making her job easy. A "thank you" would not be mine today. After the surgery, it took 3 months to really feel good; that was the start of my long fall to the bottom of the fitness black hole.
Now, here I am in the cold darkness looking at a small distant bright light named "Hope." I've enjoyed the full warmth of Hope's sister, "At Maintenance." Hope has encouraged me to start afresh; logging my food, conforming to my new Spark ranges, checking my vitals and logging them into a spread sheet every day.
These are my hope and dream goals, laughably small 20 years ago, now challenging.
Be able to get down on and up from floor easily.
Be able to handle a 50-pound sack of feed comfortably. Way out; carry it on my shoulder.
Buy a new belt that is not permanently curved because of my fat roll.
Increase muscle mass measurably, Use progressively heavier weights.
Somehow get ankles and knees to be happier.
Pie in the Sky. Learn to swim.
Increase and maintain quality aerobics function.
Decrease bouts of lower back pain after yard and housework.
Somehow gain better balance.
Be comfortable in a warm ocean.
Muscle and aerobics and a decently controlled diet and weight will be the enabler of most of what I want in physical life.
Weigh a fit 185-190, long term goal.
Somehow be able to jog again, just a distant vision.
Do 2 real pushups. Belly not touching first.
Do 1 pullup.
