Digression at Its Finest

PSYCH! This isn't a real blog, just more of a commentary and a big hello to all of you encouragers out there, especially those who've kindly kept in touch with me during my hiatus from Spark. But I hope this is still a good read though. I mean, Pinnochio was cute, even though he wasn't a real boy, right? Wait. There was that fibbing and growing-nose issue, and... Wait. I digress.
I suppose Desi would say I've got some 'splainin' to do for my absence. Frankly, a lot's been going on. My last birthday, I hit the half-century mark, and in some ways, my body has let me know it. Just before that, my grandparents celebrated 70 years of marriage. We've all been a bit distracted by pesky little things like election trauma and a so-called pandemic, which has us all walking around in a very changed world, looking like Subzero on Mortal Kombat and slathering everything we touch with Purell and... Wait. I digress.
Let me digress from my digressions and offer that 'splanation I promised: I am currently around 216 pounds, which is about 71 from where I should/wish to be. In other words, I've gained back quite a bit from my low point a few years ago in all those "after" pictures you've all complimented me on here. Unfortunately, being holed up in the house other than for work (Yay! I'm in the IT sector and, therefore, essential!), I've developed an addiction to DoorDash. Admittedly, FAR too much deep-fried nonsense has found its way FAR too conveniently to my porch. So, what do I have to say for myself? I've been highly distracted, to put it bluntly, and very careless. I've also been dealing with some personal health struggles and some personal and family issues and obligations, and I've had to back-burner calorie-counting. I'm just glad I kept a few of my fat jeans, because I'm sure people would social distance a lot farther away than six feet if I had to walk around in nothing but a mask!
So, long story short (which is NEVER the case with me, as you might have noticed if you've ever read any of my scribblings), I am not currently "in the program" as the programs like to say. I will eventually get with the program again, but for now, I won't be blogging or keeping track of my counts for a bit, till I can ease my way back into some sort of sanity and get past some gastrointestinal chaos I'm dealing with. I appreciate ALL of you who have taken the time to check on me by email, comment, and Spark message, and your messages and Spark Goodies have made me smile.
Before I go for a while, I will leave you with this thought:
IF YOU ALWAYS DO WHAT YOU'VE ALWAYS DONE, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE WHERE YOU'VE ALWAYS BEEN. (Here, you can add "on the scales" or "in the plus-sized aisle" if you'd like.)
I don't know if my Grandpa can truly be credited for this, even though I scribbled it in the margin of my Bible after one of his sermons when I was 12, but whether it was Grandpa or Henry Ford who said it first, it's definitely relevant for anyone who wants to make a life change, including on the waistline. Carry this with you as you strive to be happier and healthier...and stay away from deep-fried DoorDash!
