Today I got a few things checked off my to-do list. Yay!!
First off, I made sausage and cut up a smoked ham into slices yesterday, so today I made up the bags for vacu-sealing. By the time I'd finished vacu-sealing the ham slices, the repair man showed up with the replacement part for my oven (an ignighter).
I swear, the renters that were in this house last were absolute pigs! You would not have believed the grease on both sides of my stove when it was pulled out to access the back! I actually had to scrape it off the sides, but at least now it's clean.
Before I could get the sausage out of the fridge to weigh and vacu-seal it, I got a call from another window company - Could they come by to measure my windows? Well, of course! Really nice man - took great care and attention. Let's hope he can beat the last quote!
So now I have a working oven! Yay!! Tonight I made Kotopulo mi Patates Avgolemono - Lemon-roasted chicken and potatoes. I'd just gotten it into the oven when I got a call from the lady that wanted to pick up my packing boxes and stuff - She was running late. But that's okay, because I now have a shed that no longer is completely stacked with boxes! Yay!!
Now, don't get me wrong - I've still got some boxes and packing material that I've got to break down and stuff into white garbage bags so the garbage service with take them. It's either that or I'll have to find a way to take them to the dump or burn them in the back yard. Boxes I'll burn - plastic and styrofoam I'll break down for the trash. I just don't think it's the best thing to be burning in the back yard.
Today was cold and cloudy this morning, but the sun came out around 2:00 pm, and it did warm up a little, around 50, in the afternoon. Tomorrow morning will be in the low 30's. I'll be so glad when I can finally get these windows replaced! Even with the heat mat, it's been hard to get the tomatoes all germinated. Ideal soil temperature for germination is 70 - 80 degrees. Today, the soil temp never got above 68. Hopefully tomorrow it will warm up a little more. Next year, however, with new, energy efficient windows, starting seeds should get a lot easier.
Thankfully, the days were warmer at the beginning of the week, and I've got a pretty decent stand.
It's getting past my bedtime, folks! I'm up by 4:00 or 5:00, so I've got to wind down and get some shut eye.
