Well, one month down.
Progress on the scale? None really, maybe down a smidgen. I started off weighing daily with my new Fitbit scale, but seeing it bounce around so much was disheartening, so I will log once a week, but maybe weigh-in a few times a week as the mood strikes me.
Continuing daily jogs with dog, we have increased our mileage to over 2 miles to 2.5 miles consistently. We did our 5k for the month as well. It always seems so hard! I mapped a new route and then it didn't quite give me the full 3.1 miles, so I had to add on at the end which was so close to home the dog wasn't too happy about missing our cut off to go to the house! ;)
Yoga and Stretching: I'm getting better at incorporating here and there. 1. I NEED to stretch after our jogs and 2. I need to stretch before bed and maybe also in the morning. So this will be come a priority.
Strength training? Not going at all!
I'm continuing to work on the garage 'workout' space. I showed the husband some pinterest ideas on garage organization and I think that got him excited and he started hanging up shelves. We are also trying to encourage our teens to workout more and making that space more inviting and accessible is key. I took my daughter to a Teen Crossfit class and she got excited about weights, so I hope by having better space, all of us will lift some weights more often!!
Food is going better. I've been logging most days. I'm snacking less (especially after dinner) and have limited any chocolate to mid-day treat only (1 square of dark).
I'm experimenting with taking my thyroid medication earlier in the morning (first alarm?) or at least waiting 1 hour after taking before having coffee. After reading up on thyroid meds, it sounds like the coffee can inhibit the absorption. I've also been drinking water with lemon in the morning before anything else (hopefully that doesn't mess with my thyroid med?). These 2 things, Lemon water and delaying my coffee is helping set me up for success with Intermittent fasting. Breakfast was at 1030 this morning. Now to watch my evening meal time and work on getting the 16:8 routine back in place in hopes of better metabolism functioning.
Our weather here has been low 40s, dipping into the upper 30s a few mornings. I make the dog wait until it warms up a Bit before going out for our jog. We've been pretty lucky with the rain, the dog and I usually can find a window of 'mostly' dry to get out and about, but yesterday morning was a walk with a rain coat for me. It wasn't too bad (otherwise the dog wouldn't leave the house ;)
My plans for this month:
1. Better meal planning
2. Drink lemon water first thing in morning and Delay Coffee
3. Create and utilize Garage Gym!!
4. Try 2 new workout videos a week
5. More stretching
6. Yoga 2 x a week
My other accomplishments for January is continued Decluttering of the house (linen closet was yesterday!! and Cat litter box area the week before that). I got the old sofa out of the garage and dropped off to someone who needed it as well as a futon frame with 2 futon mattresses dropped off to someone. They were all free to give, but so few people have the ability to pick them up themselves, so we delivered for free. Better than taking to the landfill.
My son and I are volunteering at the foodbank this evening, he needs community service hours for National Honor Society and it is a good way for us to give back (we volunteered at Christmas for their toy 'store'). My daughter has found a basketball training that practices COVID protocols (wear masks) so that has been invigorating for her physically, mentally, and socially.
