Health And Plant Eating

Friday, January 29, 2021

It has been a long hard road for me the last 8 months. I have had (in order) a heart ablation, back surgery lumbar fusion which I am still healing from, tooth extraction which started as discovering fractured root and then abscess, and skin cancer which required Mohs surgery.

Through all that I was taking hydrocodone for a while and three rounds of antibiotics for the tooth. That should affect your lab work, right? In a few months I will have an implant.

The heart ablation mostly cured my A-Fib. Although when I was hypoglycemic two weeks ago I had a small episode. When I ate, it quit. I am rarely hypoglycemic, but now I will have to be sure to remember to eat or carry some hard candy with me or a Kind bar.

The lumbar fusion also included a bone graft. It was in October. They say it will take 6 months to a year to feel normal. I am not there yet, but getting better. I will see the neurosurgeon on Monday.

I had a basal cell carcinoma on my upper lip in the cupid's bow area. It was aggressive. I did not know there were different types of basal cell cancer. This was the worst. The surgery was the worst, as well. They had to cut twice, and it took 45 minutes of stitches. The doctor did a good job and said if it did not look right he would fix it. Well, he will have to fix it, so more cutting. It is not horrible, but does need fixing. I am still numb and hopefully will get my smile back.

Now for the good news.

I have been eating a plant based diet throughout, although during the holidays I started back on cheese, which I am off now. Plus, too many sweets then too. emoticon emoticon

I went to the doctor yesterday for my lab results and kidneys are improved! cholesterol is improved! diabetes is improved! Not a lot, but I expect it to get better if I stay off the bad stuff in my eating. Oh, and I have lost a few pounds. emoticon

I am an advocate for whole food plant based organic eating. I have to watch potassium, phosphorus and sodium for my kidneys, but all-in-all, I am pleased with this type of eating. I watch sugar content and eat low oil, as well, except for the occasional nuts, which I think are good for you. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
