Well, I'm off to a good start to the year and my Walk 1000 miles challenge! To reach goal you need 2.76 miles/day. I've been maintaining 3 miles/day. I will need some longer walks in to offset those days when no walks happen but I really don't want any of those days. I want to get a walk in every day because it is healthy and, really, easy! Long walks are more for weekends so I will aim for a 5 mile walk this weekend!
But not here to talk about this weekend, which is still a long way away! I'm talking about the walks I've gotten in this year. So I'm in a "walk 1000 miles" challenge for the year but also signed up for a Frozen January challenge where you have to run or walk 2km outside every day in January so that means that some of my mileage will be outside every day! And that is really good! Get some fresh air into my lungs, clear the cobwebs from the brain, and propel my body forward! As opposed to getting all my mileage in the house, mostly walking in place. Much better mentally and physically to propel the body forward and walk through the woods, in the snow!
I really do love walking! It's not hard, for the most part, and you get the quiet and peacefulness of nature. Plus, if I'm walking my dog (which I usually am), you get happy happy dogs!
