Half & Half

Sunday, December 27, 2020

Yesterday I already started thinking towards 2021. I am sooooo ready to be over this year and I bet you all are too! But -

I find myself asking "Am I really ready?". As we prepared many treats for celebrating Christmas with our family, my snacking also increased. And now that Christmas Day is over there are several "left overs" in the frig and my brain is trying to come up with how to indulge in them before January 1. After all, I don't want to waste all of that deliciousness. Boy, if that isn't an example of a sabotaging thought, I don't know what is! But, there you have it.

As I read through my emails with my first cup of coffee, the first email for the 5% Winter Challenge showed up in the "in box". I also read a couple of emails from Beck (from the Beck Diet Solution) that I had been saving. Both are great sources of inspiration! But, before you know it, I was down in the kitchen to refill my coffee cup and 2 piece of fudge found my mouth. What the heck?! ! ! That is the Half & Half part. Half ready and Half not.

But, if nothing else, I am determined. I put the rest of the fudge AND the Rum Balls in a container and placed them in cold storage. Then I signed onto SP. I went to the 5% Winter Challenge page and read. I went to the 100 Days of Weight Loss team and read. I read the article about the10 Moves With A Medicine Ball. I updated my Spark Page. And I ate a healthy breakfast as I formulated ideas in my head for this blog.

What are you doing to get ready for 2021?

Great that you are making plans for 2021. I can relate to not wanting to "waste" delicious food. Guess that I'm half and half, too.

In the spirit of keeping things simple, I will keep improving on the goals I have had the last couple of years -
    * Grow in my faith walk by reading & studying scripture first thing daily.
    * Maintain my weight between 139-144 pounds by eating 125 fewer calories than I burn daily.
    * Get 8+ hours of sleep nightly by getting to bed by 10:00pm.

    I’m finishing up a 100 mile challenge for 2020, and I’ll start a new 300 mile one in 2021.
I’m committed to nutrition tracking. It’s what works for me. Lindor milk chocolate truffle recorded in dinner consumption today!

    Hey there Sue! Happy Holidays!
Yep, I hear the half and half!
I will reframe that to I see the glass half full and not half empty! Lol
Or how about no to the all-or-nothing attitude!
You got this! Experience is the best teacher, and, girl, do we have some experience at this thing!
    Options:
Have a piece or two of the leftover goodies after you’ve eaten a healthy plate of food until they are all gone (moderation)
Throw out the leftovers cuz ya ate enough already and a clean slate feels better
Also throw out any feelings of guilt because you made the choice...

I joked at family gathering that I usually don’t eat any food that sugar is listed in the first three ingredients, but that day I was only eating it if it was! And I did! Enjoyed! And now it’s OVER! Leftovers are done too! One more family gift session with of course, more food in another week, but until then, refocused.

    Great to hear from you!
    Spark on!

I too am already looking forward to next year.
Even though we have no left-overs, (which is a first I think in our 60 years of marriage), the let down of spending the holiday without our family has brought on other temptations and some “poor me” thoughts as we try to stay safe.

With Gill’s ideas I have not done too bad but I definitely need to put a stop to the snacking!
I also need to find new ways to look ahead, make plans for a summer trip and just know I’ll be healthier, happier and ready to roam!
