Visit to the rheumatologist

My blood work came back mostly good. Though My sed rate was elevated, which is a marker for inflammation. As far as that goes I am asymmetrical. The joints on the left side of my body are swollen and inflamed, but not hardly at all on the right side. She gave me four options. I took the one with the least number of side effects... a long lasting shot of steroids... which is supposed to work for up to three months. The usual steroid side effects are possible, including restlessness, and the desire to eat everything. I am already feeling the food issue. But I am going to try and limit the damage, lol. Hard to do at times. I don’t have to go back until April, which makes me happy, as I don’t like making the drive in the winter. (It snowed today, and it made me rather nervous). The rheumatologist also gave me a referral to UB orthopedics for my shoulder. I have been having trouble with the shoulder for going on 3 years. I saw one orthopedic doctor who basically told me that I was getting old and things were going to start hurting, so suck it up buttercup! Needless to say I am not going back to see him! He is with a different practice entirely. I also did three months of physical therapy, with little effect. Anyways, I spent part of my afternoon running around town getting forms filled out and gathering up imaging discs so that I can get an appointment with the new orthopedic doctor and finally get a second opinion... and hopefully get some kind of targeted treatment plan that will help ease the impingement.
Walking the dogs this morning was a bit of an adventure. There was only a couple of inches of snow, but it wasn’t cold enough to freeze the ground solid, so it was a couple inches of sloppy snow on top of mud. Bleh. The only real upside to that was the absence of ice, lol. It is supposed to keep snowing through tomorrow midday. Luckily I don’t have to go anywhere tomorrow (though Thursday I have a neurologist appointment).
Wherever you are in the world I hope you had a great day!
