December 1, 2020 GIVE PRAISE
Praise is something we probably don’t give enough of. It is important that we praise others for the things they do well. When we praise them, we are letting them know we recognize and appreciate their efforts. When we praise them, we are encouraging them to continue to do what they do well. Acknowledging the actions of others helps them feel important and that they are contributing to the team or the family or the world.
If we praise others for what they do, then we should also be praising God for what He does. Praising God shows Him we acknowledge His work and are appreciative of it. Praising God helps us remember who He is and how great He is. God wants our praise not because He needs it but because He knows we need it. It is spiritually beneficial when we praise God and it helps us grow in our faith and in our walk with Him.
Psalm 150 “Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!” (NLT)
1. Write what you do to praise God.
2. List what the Bible says about praise.
3. Know only God can save you and He deserves your praise.
4. Remember to praise Him daily for who He is and all He has done.
Dear Lord, we love You. We thank You for all You do. We praise Your name alone. We know we are only human and live in a world that is not about You. However, we have the freedom to praise Your name. You offer salvation to us and eternal life. We praise You for Your gifts and Your love. Help us to share Your Good News with others and may our actions be good so others will see Your work and praise You as well. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” (NLT)
Deuteronomy 10:21 “He alone is your God, the only one who is worthy of your praise, the one who has done these mighty miracles that you have seen with your own eyes.” (NLT)
Hebrews 13:15 “Therefore, through him let us continually offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.” (CSB)
Philippians 1:11 “May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.” (NLT)
Psalm 96:2 “Sing to the Lord; praise his name. Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.” (NLT)
2 Corinthians 1:3 “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.” (NLT)
