November 30, 2020 TRUE COMMITMENT

If we want to know about true commitment and have an example to follow, we need to understand what true commitment is. We can make commitments to ourselves to improve our health, handle finances better or work on relationships. We can make commitments to others that we will improve. But a true commitment is one that comes from the heart. We don’t just talk our commitments. We follow through. We show it in our actions because we care.

The best example of commitment to follow is God’s commitment to us. God is the same today as He was yesterday. He will be the same tomorrow as He was 1,000 years ago. His promises are true and real. He cannot lie and will follow through on anything He promises to do. God gave up His Son, Jesus, so that we may live. He committed His only Son to go through the pain and suffering of death so our sins would be forgiven. God loves us. He is faithful. He cares for us. He wants us to commit our lives to Him as He has committed His Son and His promises to us.

Romans 8:31-32 “What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” (NLT)

1. Write what you understand about God’s love for you.
2. List the promises He has given to show His commitment to you.
3. Know God will never leave or forsake you.
4. Trust in God and His commitment to you. Commit to do His will.

Dear Lord, thank You for your commitment to us. Thank You for not giving up on us. Thank You for your patience with us. Thank You for Jesus, Your only Son, who died for us. We can read throughout the Bible how committed You are to us. We are not deserving. We are not worthy. But You love us anyway despite our flaws and our sins. Thank You for forgiving us and allowing us to be a part of Your family. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.’” (NLT)

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (NIV)

Isaiah 41:13 “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.” (NIV)

1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” (NIV)
